This place is awesome. It's a great mix of Air B n B type and a boutique hotel. The staff is super friendly and they stay out of your way at the same time. Our room was the one in back with light and vey quiet. Place is clean and tidy and in a great part of SF. Great breakfast... More

The most attractive recommendation for Sleep Over Sauce is its location in Hayes Valley--best neighborhood ever in SF. My husband and I visited SF to run in the Bay-to-Breakers race, so this hotel was right on the Muni line, convenient to everything we did. We also loved Sauce, the restaurant right under our room. This place, although with its charms... More

I always enjoy staying in places which are not part of a big chain as you get far more attention and care - and this is absolutely true for Sleep over Sauce. Everybody, from bartenders to maids, from initial correspondence to saying goodbye was just really kind. It is a residential area, just a few tram stops from main sights,... More

Great value! Comfortable and clean rooms, reasonable rates and breakfast included too. Our room was located in the front but had no problem with street noise. Breakfast (cereal, fruit, toast yogurt etc) is available in the common room all day, which was great not to have a scheduled time. All rooms are reached by a stairway which was not an... More

This place is not a corporate hotel chain so you'll feel appreciated and welcome. It's a bit old and rough in places but has lots of character you don't find at Holiday Inn. The neighborhood, Hayes Valley, just to the East a couple blocks is really nice and has lots of cool boutique shops and cafe and nice restaurants. I... More

We had read reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to book Sleep over Sauce based on what we had heard. There is always a little trepidation, but we needn't have worried. Full of character and well located, the room was adequate and bed comfy. A good sized bathroom and the breakfast / guest lounge was an added bonus for somewhere... More

We had the only room that accommodates 4, which is really 2 rooms that share a bathroom, blocked off by another door if you want the whole suite. It was roomier than I expected, very clean, just older. But not horrifically out-of-date or anything. I wish we had our own air conditioning because we got quite hot, but we opened... More

Sleep Over Sauce had nice enough rooms. My room had a counter along one wall that worked well enough as a desk for using the laptop. The accommodations are simple, but nothing is missing for a business trip (except an elevator if you don't like carrying your luggage up the stairs). I'll definitely go back. The common room was spacious... More

I lived in this city for 12 years, so coming back to visit is always a treat. Sleep Over Sauce is perfect for all my needs. Easily accessible to/from the freeway, airport and Bart. It’s located in a hip neighborhood, making it convenient for shopping, movies or a play…lots of restaurants too, but you must visit Sauce first! Best comfort... More

Given the generally outrageous prices of hotels in San Francisco this is quite a bargain. As you will understand from their website it is not a traditional hotel, which was fine with us. Rooms are clean and comfortable, decor is basic but functional. The common room is very comfortable. Unbeatable location. I will definitely go back.

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
