Sleep Over Sauce had nice enough rooms. My room had a counter along one wall that worked well enough as a desk for using the laptop. The accommodations are simple, but nothing is missing for a business trip (except an elevator if you don't like carrying your luggage up the stairs). I'll definitely go back. The common room was spacious... More

I lived in this city for 12 years, so coming back to visit is always a treat. Sleep Over Sauce is perfect for all my needs. Easily accessible to/from the freeway, airport and Bart. It’s located in a hip neighborhood, making it convenient for shopping, movies or a play…lots of restaurants too, but you must visit Sauce first! Best comfort... More

Given the generally outrageous prices of hotels in San Francisco this is quite a bargain. As you will understand from their website it is not a traditional hotel, which was fine with us. Rooms are clean and comfortable, decor is basic but functional. The common room is very comfortable. Unbeatable location. I will definitely go back.

I was greeted by Amanda, who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't ready yet, but she let my boyfriend shower in the communal bathroom before we checked in, which was very nice because we had been travelling a lot. It's little things like that that make all the difference! She was also happy to store our lugguge for... More

Sleep over Sauce is a convenient place to stay as well as dine in a great location in hip Hayes Valley. Rooms are comfortable with character, though up a flight of stairs, and street noise can be mildly disturbing in the rooms directly on Gough Street if the window is open. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is a... More

This is a great gem of a B&B in San Francisco. Locals have their friends and family stay here because of the great location and incredible price. It is not a "traditional" hotel (or B&B). It is self-service, with standard amenities. The rooms are a bit dated, but who is going to sit in their hotel all day? If you... More

This is a small hotel over a Restaurant - "Sauce",. So you Sleep over Sauce. If you are looking for a really ritzy place with a Reception Desk, a Lift and all mod cons give it a miss. But if you are looking for something clean, comfortable, good price and do not mind climbing the stairs this is the place... More

I booked a stay because we attended the Music Fest this past weekend. It's always nerving for me to have to book in unfamiliar territory, but I took the gamble at Sleep over Sauce. I have no regrets! good location...room was comfy...and it being over the restaurant/bar was not noisy at all, BUT what hooked me to come back one... More

We stayed here with our big family for a wedding and it was perfect! They have a common room where we could all gather and 2 floors with maybe 4-5 room. Every room was unique & had it's own story. Highly recommended!

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
