When I called for a reservation I could tell this was our kind of place. The Union Street Inn is simply sublime. We stayed in the English Garden Room, the one with its own balcony that opens on to the wonderful garden. Imagine opening your own French Door to such stunning sight! But to us the real treat was the... More

Its been 15 years since our last stay at the Union Street Inn so we hoped it would meet our expectations once again - we were not disappointed. The property continues to be expertly maintained and has a serene but welcoming vibe. We stayed in the New York room overlooking the main street and it is lovely waking to see... More

We had booked a hotel in the union square area. My wife and I decided to check availability of B&B. Absolutely the best decision we could have made. The Carriage house cottage at the Union Street B&B is truly a hidden gem in the city. We were conveniently located to all of the city. The staff was stunningly friendly, knowledgeable... More

We stayed in the English Garden Room which has a wonderful private balcony. The garden is enchanting and such a surprise element for a house on busy Union Street. The Union Street Inn is very quiet. The Innkeepers are so helpful. We loved coming home to wine and cheese every afternoon. The bathroom is small, but the bed is comfortable... More

My daughter and I recently spent 5 days at the Union Street Inn. It was our first trip to San Francisco and we were delighted with our stay in every respect. Our room was spotless, comfortable and welcoming, and innkeepers Kit, Chuck and David provided fantastic tips about where to go and what to do. The location is outstanding ...... More

From the moment we arrived, we were met with congenial and attentive care which made us feel at home immediately. Our room was spacious and overlooked a beautifully tended garden which made it hard to believe we were in the center of a bustling city. Between the personally prepared breakfasts , the afternoon wine and cheese, and fruit, cookies, and... More

Just stayed three nights in the Carriage House at Union Street Inn. This was an absolutely wonderful refuge at the back of the garden behind the Inn. Very private and serene. Hard to believe we were in a busy city. Our room was very comfortable and the bed would be perhaps the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in,... More

Recently visited my daughter and husband who live in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco. I found this hotel on line and the location was perfect for my visit. A hidden gem. The hotel is quaint with comfortable rooms, a lovely parlor and court yard. The staff were also special with personal breakfast in the mornings and they treated... More

We have returned to the Inn many times over the past eight years, enjoying all the delightful amenities mentioned in these reviews - especially the garden and breakfast! Kit, you are a wonder, so solicitous of every guest's preferences-and ably assisted by Chuck, David and Herb. We have had great conversations with all of you. We have not met new... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
