Property's Favorite Review
We had the good fortune of selecting the Union Street Inn for my wife’s birthday. This was one of the finest experiences we have ever had visiting San Francisco over the past many years. The location was perfect for experiencing the real feeling of San Francisco but most importantly was the service and accommodations at the Union Street Inn. Upon checking in Herb on the front desk couldn’t have been more gracious recommending and making our reservation at an Italian restaurant he highly recommended. Not only did he advise the restaurant it was my wife’s birthday but he made them aware we had show reservations that evening as well, and timing was critical. The entire evening couldn’t have been more perfect with the help and caring of the staff at the Union Street Inn. Our accommodation was excellent staying in the Carriage House for our 2-night stay. Each morning we were graciously met by the staff who went above and beyond. Chuck couldn’t have been more gracious. Not only did he offer us a breakfast of choice on the last morning but sent us on our way after checking out with home made pastries made by the staff. We will definitely return.

We stayed at the Union Street Inn for several nights last month. We received such personal attention and everyone who worked there went out of their way to make our stay outstanding. We will definitely go back if we are in San Francisco again.

We chose to say in this neighborhood since it's close to where my husband used to live in SF. It's such a great area, just blocks from the water, lots of restaurants and shops nearby and the 45 bus is right down the street - convenient and affordable way to get around the city. The Union Street in was charming! Our room, the Wild Rose room was on the second floor and faced the back garden. It was quiet, which was great because we wanted a relaxing vacation. Breakfast was served daily and included fresh fruit, and your choice of eggs, bacon, chicken apple sausage and sometimes even French toast or banana bread! You could eat on a TV tray in the main living room or take your breakfast out to the back garden. Our last day we left before breakfast, but someone (without us even asking!!) wrapped up two slices of banana bread for us to take so we wouldn't be hungry. SO thoughtful. Each afternoon there was a wine and cheese which was great! Just as we were getting back from sightseeing, there were some snacks to relax with and recover before heading out to dinner. Water and cookies were always out for snacking. The rooms didn't have their own fridges, but there was a shared fridge in the upper hall and I'm sure they'd let you use the main one if you needed. The rooms had iron/ironing board available in the closet and bathrobes for your use as well! It was charming, the staff was lovely and I really highly recommend it.

Upfront confession, never been a B&B fan but this trip called for a new direction as our daughter lives in the Marina District and we wanted to be close. Was determined not to like a B&B but the Union Street Inn total and absolutely blew me away and changed my mind. What a wonderful gem in SF. This is a perfect spot for visitors and I highly recommend. For those of you looking for all the details, read on--- Rooms. Lovely, comfortable and clean. We stayed in the New Yorker room on the first floor. Bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. Room is charming. Can be a bit noisy as it faces Union Street but between some soft ear plugs and the bathroom fan, we hardly noticed. Room is large albeit the bathroom is a little small but still plenty of room to navigate. Will be staying upstairs in the Wild Rose room in April so will report on that later. Really cute back patio that we will try out next time as it was a bit chilly this trip. The living room is really comfortable so we hung around there a lot eating all the snacks. Staff and Amenities. Super friendly! Had snacks out all day and they were good. Wine and cheese plate in the afternoon and cookies and these really yummy muffins most of the day as well. Winner was the wine cake. Gotta try it to believe it. Only constructive criticism - for those of us heading into work early, need to get the coffee on earlier than 7:30 or get a simple coffee maker (that is the sole criticism by the way and it is minor as there are coffee shops nearby). Location. Excellent. The Marina District is young and dynamic. Very close to the water and magnificent views of the Golden Gate Bridge. A few blocks walk to Crissy Fields for great walking/hiking and the Palace of Fine Arts. Great shops, coffee houses and restaurants on Union Street and close by on Chestnut (Wildseed, on Union, a vegan restaurant - another surprise, is a winner). For workout fans, there is Soul Cycle, Core Power yoga, Equinox and other workout venues just steps away. If you are heading into the City proper (my office is in the Financial District) or want to go sightseeing, it is an easy Uber ride ($8-10), bus ride or a long but doable walk. Bottom line, if you want to stay outside the hustle and bustle of the City, stay at the Union Street Inn. You will be glad you did! I'll be back in April...
