The Willows Bed & Breakfast Inn is a unique, boutique place to stay in San Francisco. Don't let the unassuming front door fool you, this place is an exquisitely maintained property with plenty of history and character (see photos). This was likely a boarding house when it was built in 1900 and narrowly escaped being destroyed in the fires which consumed much of the city after the 1906 earthquake. The accommodations are European-style which means a shared toilet and shower facilities, both of which are very well-maintained and fully respect guest privacy. The rooms each have their own distinctive character and have the rooms have lots of thoughtful touches. The breakfast has plenty to offer everyone and is well stocked. The prices are well below typical San Francisco accommodations and Mike, the owner, is very friendly and has great suggestions for where to eat and what to do.…
It has been four years since I last stayed here, but have stayed here several times since 2009. This place has CHARACTER. Very little has changed, but it is well maintained with attractive old fashioned decor and a very decent breakfast. $160 for a spacious room in this city is a bargain. Yes, the bathrooms and showers are down the hall. However, be advised that if a guess has a problem with stairs, that the inn is on the second and third floors, up big flights, and there is no elevator.
This was my third here. I was passing though San Francisco from the UK for a few days en route through California. The room was excellent. The bed comfortable. The shared bathroom was always clean and warm, and the breakfast buffet was superb. It was a good opportunity to mix and meet other guests. The location is ideal for the Castro snd Market. It's hard by Church St. Muni, and so convenientfor exploring the City. Strrongly recommended
My husband and I stayed here for one night. Hosts were very good to communicate with us prior to arriving as well as during our stay. They were also very accommodating with our late check-in. The house and our room was very clean. Our bed was very comfortable. Shared showers and bathrooms were always available when we needed them and very clean. The expanded continental breakfast was quite substantial and very good. Location is great - very close to coffee shops and public transit. Highly recommend staying here - if ever in the San Francisco area again we will definitely try to stay here! The only drawback i see is that if you have any mobility issues there are many stairs to access the rooms - could be challenging for some.
This B&B exceeded my expectations, sufficed to say I was very very pleased! It was literally like staying at home (and I live in a one level bungalow). Granted there are quite a few stairs if you're elderly but beyond that this place was the BEST! European style with shared kitchen and bathrooms in the halls. Never an issue waiting for an open one. Even though this place was full of travellers, the bathrooms seemed to always be available (if that's a concern for you). Very clean! And nice sinks in each room for convenience. Monogrammed bath robes too! The staff were all super friendly and talkative. Loaning cards for the transit system and all. We just happened to arrive at this B&B on the hottest day for the San Francisco Bay Area in 70 years. Even thought there's no air conditioning in this place it was still never an issue. Opened up all the windows and put on the supplied fans, and all was well. The place cooled down nicely once the sun went down. The temperature on our dash the day we arrived here read 106F. I honestly cannot remember the last time I've experienced heat quite like that. Never the less, our B&B was comfy and even then, I still covered up once night came. Great selection of food for breakfast and even if you have to scoot out for the airport early (before the breakfast is set), there's no issue with having a meal still. Enough stuff, cold and hot cereals, yogurt and drinks to satisfy anyone's taste. Beds were super comfy and clean! Highly recommend this B&B to everyone. It will be my #1 choice if I ever get back to San Fran. Keep up the good work guys! This place is awesome!!!…
