The Washington Street Inn is the perfect hotel for me in San Francisco and I will be back! Located in North Beach, it is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, as others have mentioned and it FEELS like San Francisco! Near the park, the Catherdral, Coit Tower...everywhere you look there is something unique to SF and the smells...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We know that time is very valuable and this takes an extra effort and we truly appreciate it. We just wanted to state that we do charge for parking, we use a secure parking garage a block from the Inn that we can access 24/7. Because of the unusual circumstance...

Attractive lobby, which doubles as the space for the complimentary breakfast and happy hour, and attentive service. Generous breakfast. Generous spirit overall. The room itself is tiny, but the experience is greater than the size of the room.

Stayed here for two nights at end of our honeymoon. We found the WSI to be a lovely, friendly inn. The building is older but that is part of its charm. Our room had a big bay window with window seats looking over the park. It's a bit noisy in the evening, being on a busy street, but quieted down...

We stayed in the Washington Square Inn for one night last week and had a great stay. The inn is perfected situated in North Beach with tons of restaurants, bars and other nightlife nearby. Fisherman's Wharf and the famous Pier 39 sea lions are within walking distance as are many other attractions. We arrived in the late evening on the...

I loved this place! It reminded me of small hotels I have stayed at in Paris. The decor is charming in the lobby. Our room was small, and on the first floor, but it fit our needs--we only stayed 2 nights. Our room was cute and comfortable. We had a view of the park, which was fine. It was interesting...

Loved the intimate atmosphere, awesome location. Bed was super-comfy, room very clean, bath with excellent towels would be suitable anywhere! Would stay again in a heartbeat. This neighborhood has countless great restaurants and bars, bus service to go anywhere is a piece of cake. Loved it! Drove past a few big & crowded downtown hotels today and was so glad...

This is my favorite place to stay in San Francisco— warm and welcoming and comfortable after a busy day in the city. Complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres are offered in the evening, and we found interesting guests to visit with every night. The staff is very helpful, and the expanded continental breakfast is both delicious and beautifully served. The inn...

This is a beautiful hotel, but unfortunately we were given a room on the second floor facing the street. Unbeknownst to us, there was a festival on the square that weekend. The set-up crews worked late into the night on Friday and started again at 5 a.m. Saturday. There is absolutely no soundproofing; our bed might as well have been...

It’s unfortunate that you did not say a word to us that you had a problem with noise; we might have been able to move you to another room toward the back of the building. I think the event you are referring to is the Columbus Day parade, held here every year in October. This is the biggest event of...

We celebrated our anniversay in the North Beach Area of San Francisco at the wonderfull Washington Square Inn. Room #9 looks out to Filbert Street from the 2nd floor. Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
