Good location. Pleasant and helpful staff. Comfy bed and decent shower. Small room. Huge TV with chrome cast. Expensive parking - car smelt like weed when it was returned to us. The coffee machine worked 50% of the time and when we asked for coffee that wasn’t decaf, we were toils sure, but nothing arrived
My partner and I had to book a place pretty last minute. We had a week and a half until we were going to be in San Francisco, so I had a last minute scramble. I did a lot of research of places to stay around Union Square and landed on choosing The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel. I was definitely glad we went with this hotel!! The building could not be more centrally located. It's surrounded by different fun shops and restaurants. The hotel was very nice. The lobby had so many places to sit if one wanted to do so. I also really appreciated the COVID-19 policies. Masks were required in all public spaces and the policies they were keeping were clearly stated on the website. That was one thing we were definitely looking for. Before I arrived, I was asked if I had a preference of the location of the room. I asked for something quiet and asked for a view if possible. They were easily able to accomodate us! Our room was on an upper floor with a city view and I could barely hear anything. Everything was so wonderful. We even were able to have a drink at the famous Redwood Room! It was so beautiful in there. I will definitely come back to the Sonesta one day.…
I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel itself is nicely decorated, and the staff was very nice and helpful. However, the first room I was put in, had a large red stain on the carpet and hair in the shower. I was then moved to another room, that was better, but still had some cleanliness issues. The walls are thin, and I could hear a party in a nearby room until 4 am one of the nights. I could also smell marijuana in my room from a nearby room. My room was prepaid through a package, and then at the hotel an almost $500 hold was put on my credit card for incidentals. I was a bit a surprised, given the amount and that this was not mentioned anywhere on the hotel website or on the booking site. I am not sure if this is standard in SF. Overall, it was just an OK stay.
I enjoyed my time immensely but your staff at all levels were amazing. Front desk people were welcoming and took the time to help all visitors in any way I felt welcomed. Workers of the Redwood Room were my favorite, Jackie, Ivan and I think his name was added are the major ones I interacted with but everyone else from cooks to guy that took me to seat amazing, some lounges I have visited great me as just another traveler and tired of people no they were spunky, welcoming sociable to everyone in their presence that is service. The workers at Fredricks also pleasant as pie an always smile before some like me have even had time to sip their morning coffee. The valet guys were always even welcoming speaking and saying welcome back each time I entered and exited the building by all means the best service I have ever received at a hotel while traveling and I will be returning. Concierge was amazing also I personally did not meet him probably seen him in passing but he gave my sister some great information of things to do and we did and enjoyed immensely. I just wanted to definitely let you know while here at airport headed on another trip how great your staff was during my stay. …
This hotel was a perfect place to stay, I feel like it was located in the center of everything! From upon arriving, my friends and I were way early for check in, but the person at the front desk was able to accommodate us and got us checked in early. One of the staff members said that the hotel has gone through some renovations and it did look a bit more “refreshed”. The room I had was big and spacious. The bed was comfy and the pillows were fluffy and soft. I, honestly did want to get out of bed during most of my stay. The bathroom was nice, I love the rainfall feature in the shower, though, I had to mess around with the faucet to figure out which way is hot or cold water. The view was nice and I heard there was a restaurant located inside the hotel as well. I was most pleased with the location. So many shops and restaurants are right outside of the hotel, so convenient! I would definitely consider wanting to come back to San Francisco and stay here again! Thank you to the staff for making my experience a good one!…
This is generally quite a decent hotel. We were visiting SF for work and then extended a day to explore the city. We wanted something relatively central so the location was perfect. The check-in process was smooth, the door attendants were considerable and the rooms were clean and modern. The person in the room next to us decided that he wanted to watch movies with the volume up throughout the night (not the hotel's fault) but the walls are thin which made sleeping slightly challenging. Another thing to note, the bar turns into a massive club at night. Not my scene but did not cause any issues.
I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable as are the bathrooms. The bar is beautiful and Fredericks, where they serve breakfast, is great. But what makes this hotel outstanding are the staff. Every one of them was so welcoming and fun to be around. It was obvious they were all very happy to work there and did everything to make our stay memorable. Great location just a block or two from Union Square.
Stayed here for one night. Got a great last - minute deal. The hotel has been renovated and the room has all the modern amenities: outlets, multiple USB plugs, 50” flatscreen TV, comfy beds. I had an interior courtyard room and it was extremely quiet. Impressed with this hotel at this price point.
Upon check in we opted for a suite and glad we did. The views from our room were great. Appreciated the ability for an early check-in and/or storage of our luggage upon our (early) arrival. Always meet with a smile by the staff and seemed to be readily available to assist. Housekeeping was thorough and should be commended. Towels and sheets were a crisp white, carpets spotless and furniture was scratch/scuff free.
This hotel is in a moderately sketchy neighborhood, and there is little about the hotel itself to encourage a return visit. The building is in serious need of a facelift: dark and dingy-looking hallways; and dimly-lit rooms with old carpeting. However, everything was clean and well-kept. The parking valet service was a disaster on one out of the two days we used it: we gave 30 minutes advance notice to get us our rental car to go to the airport, and the valet service spent 20 minutes later than the car was supposed to have been delivered because they were “looking for the car.”
