As our taxi drove through area I was thinking to myself what the hell have I booked, why the hell did I chose this area? Was met at reception by 2 very polite gentlemen, who booked us in very quickly and explained to us abit about area, about their free shuttle buses down to main tourist areas and about the airport shuttle we could book (which turned out to be 90% cheaper than taxi I had just paid for). The reception area was lovely and clean. Our room was bigger than expecting, clean and comfortable. Alittle noise from outside through the night but sure you would get that at any hotel in san fran. Bathroom was lovely too. Breakfast was also suprizely good, alot more choice than I was expecting for price we paid, was hot, cold, yoghurt, cereal, pastries, muffins something for everyone. Only issue we had was not very big for amount of guests, the 1st morning was fine but 2nd they struggled to find us a seat and we ended up sitting right by door where people would push past trying to get in and out, maybe a time slot booking system would be ideal for them. But all in all, was lovely hotel. Area abit daunting but my advice would be don't wonder about, make use of the free shuttles to union square.…
We have just come back from staying here and visiting San Francisco. Hotel is perfect, comfy beds friendly staff and good location. There are LOADS of homeless around in tents, smelling of either wee or weed! They do however leave you alone. Breakfast was good! Unfortunately while I was there I had my mobile phone snatched outside the Uber headquarters while I was taking a photo a young guy on his scooter came up and snatched my phone....I of course reported it to the police and they just said unfortunately it happens in San Francisco and they probably just wanted a quick sale for drugs! When I told the hotel they said if you go to the civic centre it would probably be there, that's where they turn up....I however didn't go there and fortunate that it was just my phone and not bank cards...just gutted I lost photos!!! So be warned and careful. We visited all the major sites and walked everywhere but did get the famous cable cars on the third day, as the hills are really steep! Overall I enjoyed the city, but out of all the states I've visited I prefer New York. I've visited Miami,Los Angeles,Las Vegas and I saw more homeless in San Francisco. The hotel was good...you can't fault the hotel! And free wine and soft drinks between 5-7pm. After 7pm you don't really want to go out....…
Take advantage of the wonderful services provided by Cova! The hotel is clean and the staff is wonderful! The neighborhood may be a bit disconcerting, but the transportation provided by the hotel helps guests avoid some of the unsettling sidewalk residents.
Just returned from the Cova Hotel in the tenderloin district of San Francisco, after reading other reviews regarding the number of down and outs living on the streets in the vinicty yes there were down and outs but didn’t worry me at all. I found the hotel to be very clean, excellent reception service from the young lady called Kim. The complimentary breakfast was a bonus, and very adequate for my needs, there was a daily free transfer bus to take you to Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square and collect you please remember to book in advance the transfers with reception. Also you can book an airport transfer from the hotel reception at nearly half the price of a taxi, and very efficient, wouldn’t hesitate to book at this hotel again thank you.
The rooms were ok, especially the bed was very ok. Room was very cold and it took couple of days for me to understand to leave the electronic heeter on for the day so that the room was warm in the evening. I couldnt leave the heeter on for the night because it was very nousy ! The other problem for me was that I coudnt buy coffee and the pop-up Bar was open only 3 hours. And every time the glasses run out in the Bar. Torally different issue was that the neigbourhood is the most dangerous in SFO ; streets full of drug addicts and homeless. Fortunately I was a part of big group and had company when I went outside the hotel walking. I absolutely don’t recommend this hotel if one is alone and used to go everywhere by himself.
Nice hotel freindly staff Free shuttle to varied places within san Francisco Gym second floor Rooftop smoking area and bar open till 2000 No air conditioning in room Main problem homeless in tents on pavement everywhere outside hotel area called tenderloin
Nice hotel lovely views advise to get a taxi in and out of town in a really poor area unfortunately Not an area to go out walking at night People literally smoking crack just outside on the footpath Would stay again tho
We stayed at Cova for three nights (during President's Day weekend) and were disappointed with the overall stay. In regard to the positives the room was clean and comfortable (with the exception of not having a thermostat to adjust the temperature) and the continental breakfast had more options than expected. The location was also convenient to the places we wanted to visit. The negatives were primarily with the customer service and the poor communication regarding the shuttle. When we arrived to check in they had difficulty assigning us to a room, apparently due to some technical glitch. Instead of communicating this to us, the girl managing the front desk clicked away on the computer for about half an hour and avoided speaking with us or giving any updates while we stood in the lobby. It was like we weren't even there...we had to ask her to explain what was going on. Eventually we decided to go to dinner to give her extra time to figure it out, and after returning 1.5 hours later the issue still hadn't been resolved, and again we stood there with no updates or communication for another 30 minutes while 2 employees clicked away silently on the computer trying to figure it all out. It made us feel very uncomfortable to be ignored like that. They finally assigned us a room about 3 hours later than the time we initially hoped to check in. The other issue was the shuttle; it only ran on the last day we were there, and the other two days we asked for it and were told it was not running due to not having a driver...not sure why they didn't plan better system knowing it was a busy holiday weekend and many guests I'm sure were counting on the shuttle. Also, the way this was communicated by front desk staff was also poor; their tone in responding seemed like they were annoyed we were even asking about the shuttle. I would not stay here again, and would encourage others to look elsewhere.…
I found myself selecting one of the “conference approved” hotels in San Fransisco. The ranges of nightly pricing was crazy, so I selected the Cova which just came under $300/night. The first clue that my selection was bad was when my fellow conference attendee texted me (he arrived before I did) to say you’ll “love” the walk to the Moscone Center. When I arrived I quickly realized what he was referring to. Homeless were scattered throughout the area which led to uncomfortable interactions and our attempting to overstep feces and other biodegradable refuge. Secondly, the room at best was equal to a Holiday-Inn Express and definitely not worth the price paid. Nighttime was also an adventure as we heard nightly screams and music blasting outside until the wee hours of the morning. Were o you hot or cold at night? Too bad, no thermostat was in the room to adjust the temperature. How about the person that wakes up early and wants to work out? The gym didn’t open until 7 am and the key would not open the door. I would definitely not recommend this place to stay to anyone visiting San Francisco!…
Staying at the Cova for the four nights was an eye opening experience : first the negative: the area is an eye opener due to the vast homeless people in and around the streets : turn the wrong way out of the hotel then you will see the homeless tented areas on the streets , really sad in this day . Now The Positives : lovely hotel clean comfortable, friendly helpful front desk staff , free shuttle bus ( need to book in advance ) lovely continental breakfast and the free wine of an evening was a great addition . The hotel is in a great location for visiting San Francisco, we walked most places even to fisherman’s wharf ( it’s a long walk but to see the views it well worth it ) would I stay again : of course I would .
