Angler's Alibi, a premier Alaska fishing lodge, may be the best example of what an Alaskan fishing experience is supposed to be. Our location - no roads or crowds, just unbelievable fishing, spectacular scenery, and an abundance of wildlife, our years of experience - over 20 years in business; and our guest/guide ratio (2:1) ensure plenty of individual attention, and an Alaskan fishing program tailored to your expectations. Our location on the tidewater section of the Alagnak River means that we have great fishing right off our shoreline, even right off the dock! We utilize 6 guide boats, 6 guides, and take only 12 guests per week. This makes our fishing program very easy to customize according to the guests' wishes. We offer 9 hours of guided fishing every day, and if that is not enough, we will take guests out after dinner until our 9pm curfew. If this is too much time fishing and not enough time relaxing, no problem - we let the guests dictate how much time they want to fish.

We are fishing for king, sockeye, silver, chum & pink salmon when they are still in their ocean feeding patterns, chrome bright and full of fight. It is possible to land all 5 species of Pacific salmon without ever leaving camp. The fishing and wading is extremely easy on the Alagnak River. The best salmon fishing on the Alagnak River is within a ten minute boat ride from camp and some of the very best fly fishing water on the Alagnak River is literally right out our front door. We also provide optional guided fly-outs to some of Alaska's other very best rainbow trout, arctic char, and grayling streams.

Thanks for checking us out online. Make sure to consume the photos, day-in-the-life, and other camp information, and call us to book a premier Alaska fishing lodge trip of a lifetime!

All I can say is WOW!!!! This is a full service lodge where you show up and the rest is taken care of. From the time you step off the float plane until you get back on the staff steps in and takes over. Meals are outstanding! Breakfast, evening appetizers and dinners are chef prepared and shore lunches are done by the guides and kitchen staff. Beds are made daily, clothes folded and all in order upon return from fishing. Laundry is done for you upon request. Beds are comfy and warm with heaters available if needed. Only used ours in the morning to take the chill off.
Pretty much a set schedule daily unless you plan a fly out trip which you should definitely do. Guides are outstanding fishermen and quality people. Enjoyed the camaraderie and personalities of each one. John Perry, the owner has selected excellent people to assist in taking care of you from start to finish. Every day was a new experience on the river with multiple species available to fish for.
Our group had no concerns or complaints and if we did I’m sure they would have been addressed immediately.
Thank you JP (John Perry) for making this trip the memory of a lifetime!!!

Better experience than I had imagined. Everything was beyond what we expected when we signed up. Fishing, guides, staff, and food were fantastic Caught all species of salmon, saw moose, bear, and eagle everyday. Staff was fantastic and the accommodations were fantastic

I traveled with 3 friends to Angler’s Alibi for week 10 in 2021.
Easily one of the best trips of my life. I went in with really high expectations—big b-day, postponed trip from 2020, bucket list, first time in AK, etc. This trip surpassed all of it.

The fishing and scenery were incredible. Staying flexible was important during the week due to fog/rain/weather, but each day the camp geared up to maximize the day.
AA is the perfect combination of being “way out there”, off the grid, and having most of the comforts of a permanent lodge.
We ended the week with a spontaneous overnight, fly-out trip that was likely the best thing I’ve ever done. It was a big lift, but when the decision was made to go, the entire camp mobilized gear/food/supplies to make the trip happen.

JP runs a terrific place and his crew are all super fishy, friendly, and committed to the operation. Excellent communication over the past 2 years with JP. He responded/answered questions quickly and thoroughly.

Jim, Landry, Thermo, Jackson, Jeff, Russell, TR, Chase, Carson, Will, and JP—a huge thanks for making that week so memorable. We’re definitely coming back.

Highly disappointing! 3 stars only for the lodge staff and cook. Otherwise it would have been 1 star. Half of the guides that I was guided by were great, 2 were clearly doing me a favor. Owner was in the lodge every evening but did not engage with me at any time during our trip, only 12 guests. Took a $600+ flyout and our lead guide was more interested in taking pictures of wildlife that getting us on fish. Sorry, but would not recommend them to anyone.

Hello Kylen642, sorry we disappointed you not only with the guides but for my lack of communication with you in the evenings. Please email me as I would like to right the ship with you. I honestly have no idea who you are by your TripAdvisor name for starters. Sorry we did not provide the trip you had hoped for.

Be prepared to spend HOURS waiting for charter flights and floatplanes to get you to and from Angler's Alibi.

These flights are mandatory, and set up by Angler's Alibi. However you will wait for hours in limbo waiting for the planes. They are always late/delayed.

Prepare to spend the COMPLETE first and last days of the trip waiting for planes to transport you to and from Angler's Alibi. It will definitely test your patience and you may miss connecting flights returning home.

Otherwise, once you get to Angler's Alibi you'll have a good time. It just needs to streamline the transportation service.

Yes, logistics are not seamless for a remote lodge accessible only by floatplane. We are trying to fix this with air charters for the Anchorage to King Salmon portion of your trip. I hope that in the future we can make this a much more seamless trip for all of our guests. I appreciate your comments and will do our best to make it better for all. In the future, I do have some suggestions for lodges that have an airstrip behind them with direct flights from Anchorage to the lodge. They take a much larger group of anglers and bear viewers, but it would be a shorter travel time for sure.

Started to say trip of a lifetime but since I’m planning on going back, I’ll wait on that. Awesome lodge, awesome guides, awesome staff and awesome river. Everything was as advertised (including charter flight from Anchorage). Made trip with my two sons. Amazing family experience. JP and his staff were great hosts and the camp/food were great. Guides adapted to your abilities and kept you on fish. BTW, fishing was fantastic. Thanks to all for a great trip

John and team run a great trip. Good staff, good food, and a great fly out adventure. Small but nice atmosphere with capable staff. John and team work hard to set a good atmosphere (friendly) and fun time for all.

I was lucky enough to stay here with my brother and father for week 5. This camp is a top notch place. We were unable to come in 2020 but it was well worth the wait. JP explained thoroughly in emails all of the changes due to the pandemic well in advance with the charter from King Salmon.(kind of hard to miss) Everyone at the camp was amazing from the Guides to the Chef to the Camp Hands. Oh, and the fishing is amazing. I can’t wait to get back there someday. Thank you again for the trip of a lifetime!

My stepson and I fished from Aug 2 - 8 2015 and every video or picture you see of Anglers Alibi is right on. The fishing was slow at first but when it picked up, it picked up. Our last day of silver fishing we had our limit in 2.5 hours. When they say you fish of 9 hours you do, and after dinner the guides are ready to go back out.

Everything at there special, and God willing I'll be able to go back.

An experience everyone should have

The lodge provides just perfectly comfortable accommodations with everything you need. The breakfasts and dinners are first class. The fishing varied from decent to phenomenal. The salmon are all in fabulous fighting condition so close to or within tidewater. It is an excellent river section to swing the fly with aggresive king salmon. Chum salmon are easily entertained with a popping fly for non stop action. The fly outs are a must do as well for world class rainbow trout and maybe safely viewing more brown bears than you can count!
