Dear John and Kari, I would like to take this opportunity to Thank You and your staff for giving me the incredible experience of being a guest at your lodge. You and your staff far and away exceeded my expectations of taking part in an Alaskan fishing adventure! Your willingness and desire to make a great experience for every individual guest was commendable. Not everyones angling skills were the same but you and your guides saw to it that we all experienced an awesome trip! The guides were willing and did go the extra mile to provide us with a “trip of a lifetime”. You truly run an exceptional operation with first rate accommodations. Your staff are some of the most pleasant and enjoyable people I have had the pleasure of meeting. My compliments to your chef and the staff that provided us with some of the very best meals I’ve had the pleasure of eating. You and your pilots obviously take pride in your fleet of aircraft as they show the loving care that you provide to them. They are all beautiful, spotless and awesomely maintained. If the opportunity arises and I have the ability to come back to Alaska No See Um Lodge would be the first place I’d choose. Feel free to use me as a reference as I have nothing but good things to say about your operation. Thanks again for a wonderful adventure, it was magical! Bruce Morgan

After visiting Alaska 20 times & staying at 7 different lodges I have found that the No See Um Lodge is without a doubt the best lodge in Alaska. The staff & owner made me feel comfortable with their attention to detail & demonstration of care. They openly showed enjoyment when I caught a big fish or other rewarding experience. My only critic is that they always made sure my daughter caught bigger fish than I. The food, service, & value exceeded my expectations . TomWise

My husband (an 8 time repeat client of the lodge) and I just returned from a week on The Kvichak River. This was my first visit to No See Um, to Alaska, and to a fishing experience like this. From the transfer in Anchorage, to the lodge itself, not a single detail is missed or lacking in excellence. This is a finely tuned machine, with a million moving parts. The float planes are beautifully maintained and so much fun to fly in, with excellent pilots. The guides...feel like family at the end of the week. Each one of the guides that I had the pleasure of fishing with...helped me become a better angler. Wade, very kindly re worked my entire cast, and Chase had me sight casting, landing a 27" Rainbow Trout on a dry fly by the end of the week. If you are not the most experienced angler, you do NOT have to worry about looking like a fool. No one made me feel like the hack I know I was! These guys are all far too kind for that. Truly professional. (yes, 27" trout, not a typo) We also landed a 20lb and 30lb King Salmon, which are now being greatly enjoyed back at home. The fish were abundant. No days of getting "skunked" here. The wildlife, Moose with babies, Bald Eagles with Babies, Bears with babies...were amazing. Brooks River, In Katmai Park, was the highlight of my trip. Standing in the river in such close proximity to the bears was thrilling. It is like an episode from Nat Geo. No two days mirrored each other, and fun experiences punctuated each. The staff at the lodge are exceptional, Melissa/Lauren/Kimberly/Chef Sean...go out of their way to meet your every request. I have gluten issues, and all of the meals they provided to me were fantastic. Don't miss the snacks at happy hour, and hoping you are served the ribs, they were killer. There is a full open bar, and lovely wine available at dinner. We had one of the honeymoon cabins, and it was so comfortable. Great beds, incredibly soft flannel sheets, wonderful towels, robes, blowdryers...this isn't "roughing it" John and his team have truly thought of everything. If you are going to bite the bullet for a trip of this nature, this is the place. It was my pleasure to experience No See Um, and make memories that will never be forgotten. Priceless.

Another trip to Alaska and No see um Lodge and another wonderful experience. We had some weather difficulties but john and the crew were flexible as always and had alternate rivers to fish. This was the first time taking my mother up to see Alaska and she isn't a huge fishing fan, by the time she left no see um she was already planning next years trip. The guides really took time to help her at her own pace and landing multiple 22 inch rainbows doesn't hurt. If you have someone in your party who is new to fly fishing or never tried it before John and No See um lodge is the only place to take them

The fishing is beyond compare, and the staff is even better. We were taken to a different location each day by bush plane or boat, where we caught large, hard-fighting wild Rainbows, Arctic Char, King Salmon, and Sockeye Salmon. The operation runs like a Swiss watch. We always felt safe with the guides and pilots. The entire staff is gracious and professional. This lodge delivers on every promise.

After many years of traveling with my husband to various fly-fishing destinations out west, we finally decided to bite the bullet and fulfill his bucket-list item of fly-fishing in Alaska. I love our fishing expeditions together, but I was always the one who was a bit reluctant to pull the trigger on an Alaskan vacation. I knew that my husband's dream was to visit a remote fly-out lodge for the opportunity to visit lakes and rivers that were not worked over by hundreds of fisherman. I am not the most eager flier, so the idea of getting into a small plane each morning was not necessarily my cup of tea. However, we met John Holman at the fly-fishing show in NJ, and he spoke so glowingly of the landscape and fishing opportunities that he sold me! The pilots and guides (in most instances the pilots were also part of the guide teams) were so experienced and reassuring that after the first day, I never gave it a second thought! It was fabulous to look down and see the landscape below as we flew to our destination each morning. John was a wonderful host, and his entire staff and team couldn't have been more accommodating! The cabins were very comfortable, and the meals, prepared by the chef, were outstanding. We had a wonderful time getting to know our fellow guests during breakfast & dinner, and enjoyed sharing our daily fishing adventures in the bar before dinner. We were able to fish in a different location each day, and since the pilots/planes stayed with you at each location, we were able to make some last-minute decisions and could fly to a different, more productive area of fishing within the same day. It was a perfect introduction to fly fishing in Alaska, and one I would highly recommend!

A magnificent fifth year in a row at the superb No See Um Lodge. This is an fly fisherpersons dream experience. The guides are deeply experienced, personable and very helpful. Wildlife viewing in abundance while hooking rainbow trout that truly exceed all expectations in terms of strength, size and of course beauty. Accommodations are comfy and the food is truly excellent - thanks Chef Sean! Safety is always a first priority and much appreciated. Guess you know by now that this is a personal favorite destination.

I take several fishing trips yearly to fly fish in locations such as Argentina, Russia, Canada, the Rocky Mountains, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Alaska. NoSeeUm Lodge is my favorite destination because the fishing has always been superb, the hospitality is warm and family-like, the meals are delicious, the 3 Beaver aircraft are well maintained and well piloted. Weather permitting, all guests have a choice to be flown to a wide variety of fishing destinations daily. The guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive. The second generation owner, John Holman, is always on site. He is a fun and gracious host. Overall the experience is a little like a family reunion--but where you like all of your relatives.

A very good friend of mine invited me to join him and his adult daughters on a fishing trip to this No See Um Lodge. I jumped on the opportunity without knowing anything about the lodge. After I committed, I started doing some research and I was absolutely amazed at all of the positive reviews I read about this lodge, the staff and the owner. Because of all of the over-the-top reviews and the stories my friend shared about their previous visits, I showed up with exceedingly high expectations. I was NOT disappointed! It's difficult the "best" part of the experience. The service...extraordinary. The food...absolutely awesome. The fishing...world class! Without question, the secret to all of these variables coming together to form an unforgettable experience is the owner, John Holman. John personally answered every one of my emails prior to the trip as I was trying to prepare for the experience. Once we arrived and I met him I immediately knew we were with the right outfit. The fishing part of the trip was managed incredibly well considering the vast amount of moving parts there are to satisfy the needs of a dozen fishermen with a myriad of fly fishing abilities and physical capabilities. John and his guides do an amazing job catering to needs and desires of each and every client. Every guide I fished displayed a sincere desire to take care of us and any needs we had. They put us on extraordinary trout and salmon fishing every day. When we asked if we could break up the trip by targeting northern pike in the middle of the trip they did everything they needed to do to make it happen! The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The happy hour provisions were awesome...including wine and some excellent craft beer selections. The meals at the lodge were top shelf and they are willing to adjust the menus to any reasonable request. If have the choice to bring your own gear, but the gear they have to loan is excellent in quality. I'm not sure if I'll ever find my way back to the No See Um Lodge but it will always be an extraordinary memory!

I spent a week with the guys alternating between spey casting for kings and fishing for trout. There can't be many places in the world that have access to such a variety of water where you can practice so many fly fishing techniques.
