This was a bucket list trip with good friends And the staff and service we received made it so. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were down to earth and laid back. This goes to all the staff members. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The food was hot and delicious. The meals were prepared with care everyday. The remote location made it very peaceful and quiet. For a nice fishing experience, what else could you ask for? It was a great experience. We will never forget it.

Our flight in from Anchorage was amazing, with spectacular views of glaciers and mountains. We landed at Katmai Lodge and the Owners, Staff and our Guide for the week greeted us as we disembarked. All the lugage was taken to our room while we received an orientation and a gear fitting. The cabins were all very clean, had hot & cold running water and 24hr electricity. The food was amazing, the Staff very helpfull and our guide was ready to fish as soon as we were. The guide was eager to get us on fish and stay out long as we wanted, as long as we were back by ending time. The views from the lodge that sits on a bluff overlooking the river are just amazing. Wildlife galore, Bears, Bald Eagles, Foxes, River Otters and of course Salmon. All the boats are outfitted with G-loomis gear and are perfect for catching all the salmon and trout you can handle.

From the time we arrived at the lodge and had to sadly go back to reality, this vacation was like a dream. Amazing lodge right on the Katmai river with stunning surroundings, wildlife and more fish than I have ever seen or caught before. The staff and fishing guides spoiled us each day and the chefs made sure our bellies were full of great food daily. If you get a chance to go to Brooks National Park, it is guaranteed to be a highlight of your trip with many bears catching salmon as they are jumping up the famous falls. We also saw beavers, river otters, eagles of plenty and my favorite was Bella the fox.

Room Tip: Each cabin had different views of the Katmai river, but we loved the Brown Bear cabin.

I recently returned from a week stay at the Katmai Lodge in the Alaskan wilderness. Wow! This was my second (and it likely won’t be my last) trip to the lodge. This place is incredible. They took care of everything, beginning with the charter flight from Anchorage, to the accommodations, delicious food, amazing guides, fishing gear (including waders so you don’t need to pack your own). They make it so simple and enjoyable to be in the wilderness and enjoy Mother Nature at her best. We saw bears, eagles, moose, beavers, and plenty of other wildlife during our week. And we caught more fish than we cared to count. Several family members joined me this time, and we all agreed that it’s right at the top of our favorite adventures together. I can’t say enough about what a tremendous job the staff at Katmai did and how much we enjoyed our time there! A sincere “Thank You” to the whole crew up there!

Amazing lodge on the river! Beautiful views, great food and staff! Boats, guides and gear are all top quality for catching all 5 of the rivers Salmon. Everyday on the river we got to see bears, eagles, cranes, beavers, otters and LOTS of fish dancing on our poles! Room views, accommodations were incredible with hot showers and Wi-Fi if needed. Happy hour in lodge was great way to share stories followed by great dinners! Best vacation yet!

Outstanding lodge and fishing destination. Great staff, excellent accommodations and food. Unbelievable fishing , catching 40 salmon on fly before lunch and more after, all six days. If you like to fly fish, this is the place to go . I will definitely return.

I've had such spectacular adventures with my daughter and two sons during past visits at Katmai Lodge that this year I brought my whole family, including my wife, daughter-in-law, and 11 year-old grandson. The Lodge with its comfortable amenities combined with the professionalism of the guides and staff provide an exceptional experience like none other. A week of fishing, wildlife exploring, boating, and flying in the lodge-owned Otter Airplane goes by way too quickly. Five types of Salmon, along with large Rainbow Trout and Lake Trout were caught in the wild Alagnak River. The daily sightings of Brown Bears, Golden Eagles, and Moose add to a jaw dropping experience. The fly-out to Brooks Falls to watch Brown Bears feed on Salmon is a must see. The meals are varied and delicious, the sleeping accommodations are very good, and the housekeeping services appreciated. Returning to Katmai Lodge for me is not an if, but rather a when.

Talk about AMAZING! This was so much more than we ever expected. For being out in the middle of remote Alaska and to have running water, hot showers, flush toilets in each cabin and 3 full meals each day, all I can say is WOW! The fishing was fantastic and the staff is so thoughtful and caring. Top of the line! We caught A LOT of fish. A flight out to Brooks Falls to see the bears was just an added bonus and definitely worth a day away from fishing...or half a day really. While fishing we saw so much wildlife: bears, eagles, fish, beavers and fox. Bella - the local fox even poses for pictures if you can catch her early in the morning sniffing around the kitchen door. We went in early August, weather was cool and drizzly but we also had some nice days.

Our entire group (~30 people) had a marvelous time. The staff's attention to detail, willingness to accommodate individual needs, and the guides special focus on the overall experience made this an epic event. It would be an accomplishment if there were just 2-4 of us, but the Lodge made this happen for ALL of us which makes this monumental! Katmai has helped to create a lifetime of memories for us all, and we are indeed grateful.

We had the pleasure of bringing our entire family to Katmai a few weeks ago - and it was the trip of a lifetime! Their entire staff was amazing and incredibly accommodating to our group. From the guides to the food everything was top notch. We had people of all fishing levels from beginner to expert, and they kept everyone feeling great and catching fish. We are especially appreciative of how kind the guides were to our 11 year old son who they officially turned into a fly fisherman. One tip: Try and make it to Brooks Falls - it was a beautiful day and a we were still able to do a half day of fishing! Overall, I cannot think of a better vacation we could have had as a family and we have made memories that will last forever. Thank you, Katmai - We will be back!
