Property's Favorite Review
Alaska Rainbow Lodge is by far the best fishing trip I have ever had! My husband had been once before prior to bringing me, and after all the wonderful things he mentioned about this place I just had to try it out. The experience exceeded everything I could imagine this trip being. The lodge is amazing with all it's charm and coziness. Chip and Amanda, the owners, truly care about their staff and their customers. They are always around to chat with you about your day, the weather, or anything you might need to make your stay more enjoyable. In fact, my waders had a leak in them the very 1st day of our fishing trip, but within 5 minutes from getting back to the lodge someone was handing me a pair of waders to use. This lodge provides everything you would need for your fishing trip from fishing equipment to fishing waders which is nice if you don't want to lug all this stuff from home. It's especially great in case you break, damage or need gear or fishing attire. Being the only woman fishing amongst all the men, the staff and owners, and of course the fishermen made me feel as one of the guys. There is a personal chef on staff that cooks amazing meals and not just something to feed you, but food you would be served from a 5-star restaurant. Absolutely delicious! You more than likely will go home gaining a few pounds... From steaks, and prime rib, to a seafood extravaganza toped off with Alaska King Crab legs. At breakfast there is a special of the day along with serve to order items. For lunch no matter what the weather conditions while fishing your guide will cook and serve a hot homemade soup with warm sandwiches. An amazing display of hors d'oeuvres greets you upon your arrival back to the lodge that could fill you up before you even make it to the 3 course dinner. Just absolutely crazy yummy! The staff is hands on some of the nicest and most attentive people you could ask for. They seem to read your mind and are their for you at a moments notice. AND, as for the fishing.... it was everything I had hoped it would be. We went in September so the focus was on the trout and if you want to catch big trout this is the place to go. They are such a beautiful fish and so much fun to catch! I'm not a fly fisherman, so I used a spinning rod and reel but it didn't keep me from catching fish. Each day we picked a different location to fly out to and each location was special and unique in its own way. I learned quickly that at "the flats" you have an opportunity to catch big fish! I caught trout that were 22 in, 26 in, 28 in, and ended the day with a 25.5, and those are just the ones we measured... My husband caught lots of trout as well, but this trip I out fished him - I believe you call it "beginners luck". We fished on a river where the bears came out to join you. While you're fishing they are out fishing too. It was so amazing to be fishing while the bears come and go around you. No need to fear as they aren't interested in people and your trusty guides keep you at a safe distance. But, the fishing along this river was amazing. And, having the snow covered mountains surrounding you makes this an amazing location to fish. You do fly in and out of the lodge every day to your fishing spot and the views from the float planes are absolutely breathtaking. All 3 pilots are trust worthy, and safety is their top priority. But, again you are reading this review for the fish and while the weather in Alaska can be unpredictable the fish are not. Every place/day we fished we caught beautiful trout. We got skunked one day as the fish just weren't there, but we made up for it the next day, and the next day, and the next day!!!!!! As for the fishing guides - you will not meet another group of guys that are so attentive to their customers or have the love of fishing more than these guys. They truly make their priority be you and your fishing. While we did tend to use Eric most of the time - whom I do highly recommend... Any one of the guides would be amazing to have. Seriously, they absolutely love what they do and enjoy helping you catch a fish of lifetime. If you want to have an experience of a lifetime I would highly suggest booking a trip to Alaska Rainbow Lodge!

I first went to Alaska Rainbow Lodge about 20 years ago. It was great then it’s even better now. Chip and his crew have taken the Alaskan fishing trip to new highs. The fishing, service and food where remarkable. I highly recommend ARL to anyone considering this type of trip

The lodge, float planes, food, and rivers full of fish make this experience a "fishing paradise". There is nothing close to the total accommodations of the Alaska Rainbow Lodge....they really care about every need of their guests. The lodge provides the "best of the best" experience. I am counting the days until I return next year.

This lodge is top notch! Every detail is taken into account- from the lodge employees handling your bags, to the personalized wader and boot rental, to the bar selections and room amenities. The breakfasts and dinners prepared by Executive Chef Marc and Sous Chef Jacob are STELLAR, as are the shore lunches made by the fishing guides. You've never eaten so well on a fishing trip, I guarantee it! The views of the Kvichak river from ARL are stunning...we used the screened-in gazebo for evening cocktail hour most days and it was just lovely to watch the sun swoop across the sky (it doesn't exactly "set" in June). All the guides are very knowledgeable and make it their personal goal to get you to the great fishing spots, as evidenced by this inexperienced fisherwoman nabbing a 36.5 inch King Salmon on her first day! They also provide bug spray (a necessity) and sunscreen if needed. When you land your allowed catch for the day, you pick whether you'd like it fresh-frozen or smoked and the guides and camp hands take it from there...You will not be disappointed either way! They get it all packed up for you to take home at the end of your stay. The pilots (Chip, Ken and Troy) are all so great as well, they really know what they are doing and I felt safe the entire time on the float planes. I cannot say enough about the inside staff (Gabrielle, Shelley, Mikayla, Grace and Veronica)- they go above and beyond to make sure every guest has everything they could possibly need and keep the lodge looking beautiful. I stayed in one of the cabins just outside the main lodge and it was so clean and comfortable! The Lodge grounds are kept impeccably by the camp hands and mechanics, and everyone seemed to love being there and helping out. Overall, owners Chip and Amanda Ferguson run quite the outfit in a remote part of Alaska, but you'd never know how remote you really are! It feels like home. I can't wait to go back next summer!

Wow, another amazing week at ARL! Chip the owner runs a very tight ship. No detail in making your experience the best ever is not considered. The pilots are the best and more importantly the safest as you fly to the best fishing places in alaska daily. Jad, the head fishing guide, has an incredible group of very "fishy" guides that are very good at the people skill business. The accommodations are world class first rate! Simply put you will not find a better lodge to stay at for the value of the trip. The people make the place and the safety of your trip is of paramount importance to all the staff at ARL. YOU MUST TRAVEL TO THIS PLACE. THIS IS TRULY A BUCKET LIST ITEM. However i have been 3 times and simply would not even consider another lodge. You cannot top the BEST. Huge kudos and thank you to Chip and his team for a wonderful visit last week with my son.

Right from sending an email to enquirer about costs and availability, Chip and Amanda provided a personal, friendly and helpful service. We discussed the facilities and the fishing in great detail, wanting to make sure that a person with limited mobility would be able to cope and they went out of their way to accommodate us wherever possible. It was a father-with-three-adult-children trip —so even when it came to accommodation arrangements, the best possible options were given. The stay was five star plus in every which way. The fishing was varied -every day a different location, bespoke experiences for this family group. The two guides provided to us every day were all excellent in what they do — helpful and attentive and always ready to go the extra mile -and more- to make sure that every day was yet another highlight. They also provided constant information and assistance, and all had a great sense of humour to make even tricky situations a fun experience. There was much laughter in this group, but also some serious fishing. We could not have wished for more -and as much as we would love to make some recommendation, between us we could not find anything that was not quite perfect!

Just finished my first week at ARL. Can't wait to go back. Very competent pilots, well-maintained Beavers, immaculate lodge with comfortable beds and spacious rooms, good to great food. Homey feel. But the people really make the experience. Exceedingly attentive indoor staff. Cheerful, energetic guides. Available and responsive office manager. The owner is also one of the pilots and keeps a close eye on every aspect of the lodge; he personally asked for feedback prior to our departure. Richard F

Alaska Rainbow Lodge provides a phenomenal experience for everyone from the novice angler to the experienced and demanding fly fishing pro. Customer service is unsurpassed and starts with detailed information provided to help plan the trip. On site the meals are terrific, the staff is unfailingly polite and helpful, and great efforts are made to accommodate every taste and preference. Accommodations are clean and well maintained, and there is even a morning bedside beverage delivery for wakeup! And the fishing - ARL uses experienced guides who love to share their knowledge with clients. Every day brings an opportunity to fish different waters and to see new parts of this amazing part of Alaska. The staff also processes and assists with shipping your salmon catch home which was a great part of our trip! All of the float plane pilots are experienced and extremely safety conscious and made us feel very at ease. During your week you will catch fish, see lots of bears, and be well fed and cared for at every turn! Chip (the owner) is also on site and always working with guests to insure a great experience (he is one of the pilots too). It is clear that he sets the tone for great customer service and communication. In short - you will not find a better overall experience for fishing in this part of Alaska. Top of the line in every way!

The ARL, is a great life experience. Every single person, fishing guide, hostess, chef, and pilot are first class. They genuinely take an interest in your well-being and happiness. Every guide was helpful and greeted you with a smile at the end of each day. The lodge is simple, clean and provides a warm relaxed environment after a long day. Every meal is tasty and plentiful. The staff will accommodate all requests. Now the fishing....simply the best! Every river was stock full of fish. Every guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Regardless of your skill level, these guides are willing and able to teach you something. Brooks Falls, and fishing with the bears is a "Bucket List" day, everyone must do it. If you are questioning which lodge and which group in Alaska to try, these guys are the best!

My wife and I traveled to ARL for our first extensive fly fishing experience and could not be more pleased with our choice. Great accommodations are always important and ARL did not disappoint. At the end of the day, its all about the fishing and we caught a lot of really beautiful rainbow's on 5 different rivers that had 5 really different environments which made it even more rewarding (we chose to go at a time when it was primarily rainbows, not salmon). Even with good fishing - guides, staff, and ownership personalities will always affect the overall experience of the trip and in this case it was a real cherry-on-top. This staff of guys and girls are outstanding and really contributed positively to our overall experience. And then there's safety. This type of adventure is not child's play. Exceptional professionalism on display throughout our trip and the knowledge and commitment of the staff to everyone's safety was obvious. Congrats to Chip, the current owner for assembling a classy group of employees. His commitment to the future of ARL is fun to observe and I predict 2018 to be a very successful campaign.
