We had a great stay at the Elmhurst Inn. We are a younger couple (35 years old) who visited Bar Harbor primarily to hike and bike in Acadia National Park. We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful breakfasts and planned our day around them! Our room was comfortable. One of the best parts about the inn is how central it is to Bar Harbor (walkable to everything), yet on a quaint and quiet street. Cheryl was really the perfect host - helpful, informative, kind, friendly.
Excellent stay. My family stayed in the Eagle suite for several nights. The suite has 2 bedrooms - one with queen bed and one with king bed- along with a sitting room and bathroom. It was nice to have the extra space. Also quiet and peaceful at night. We enjoyed our conversations with Cheryl the innkeeper. She is a gem who is always available to help and made several excellent suggestions for sightseeing in and around the park. The daily breakfast was so good!! As we’re the cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. The Inn is immaculate and tastefully decorated. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could! Highly recommend.
You can walk to everything in Bar Harbor from Inn, which is located on a quiet street away from all the traffic and commotion. Comfortable rooms in a restored old house containing 12 guest rooms. The breakfasts could not be beat anywhere, and they changed each day with two options to choose from. The Innkeeper was friendly, helpful, competent and efficient. We enjoyed sitting on the comfortable chairs on the front porch and meeting some of the other guests. Good value for money.
We would definitely recommend staying at this inn. We just got home from our trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We loved that we were walking distance (less than 10min) to the downtown restaurants. We felt comfortable walking home at night and the inn is on a quiet street with other inns and travellers. The breakfasts were some of the best food we ate. What a treat in the morning. We loved getting a choice of two options each day. We signed up the night before and looked forward to the meal each day! We enjoyed talking with Cheryl. We stayed in the Cranberry Isles room with the detached bathroom. It was not ideal bathroom situation (mainly felt bad for making noise in the hallway for other guests), but didn't damper our stay at all. We were so glad to have come across this inn very last minute and this was the last room available. It was private, quiet and the bathroom was only 5 steps away. We would def stay here again!…
My husband and I spent two nights at the Elmhurst Inn and loved it! Cheryl is amazing! She is around all the time and remembers all the details. She is extremely organized and efficient. Breakfast was outstanding with a choice of a sweet or savory option along with juice, delicious bread, and fruit. Our room had everything we needed and we found the shower to be magnificent after a long day of biking on the carriage roads. The front porch is a fun place to sit and watch the world go by. I would definitely book the Elmhurst Inn again!
Cheryl was knowledgeable about the area and was very accommodating to our needs as first time Bar Harbor visitors. Great location easy to walk to restaurants and waterfront Breakfast was very good and we loved the fireplace in the room. Jim and Ruth
My husband and I spent three nights at the Elmhurst Inn and had the most lovely time. We stayed in the Frenchman room, which had a very comfortable king size bed, large bathroom with a walk in shower, and a fireplace. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing and plentiful. (The breakfasts were our favorite part of the stay!) We also loved sitting on the front porch after a long day at Acadia National Park with some hot tea; hot tea and coffee was available all day. Acadia National Park is a short drive from the Inn and Bar Harbor town is a short walk. Highly recommend staying at this beautiful and quaint Inn.
We stayed in the Eagle Lake Suite for 4 nights and it was very nice - large king bed, quiet, lots of privacy. Breakfasts were great and you could tell the place was expertly managed by Cheryl. Would definitely recommend.
This was a very pleasant stop for us in busy Bar Harbor. That it is located on a pleasant side street within walking distance of downtown is a plus. This small inn has nice ambiance, and our room was pretty, nicely appointed and and had a comfortable bed and hot shower. The daily breakfast service on the veranda was expertly handled by Cheryl, the manager, and another obviously very experienced server. Food was delicious and choices were offered daily, including vegan options for three in our party. We were made to feel at home and were comfortable playing games nightly at the downstairs dining room table. Hot beverages were always available, day and night, on the dining room sideboard. We would definitely recommend this inn!
We love historic hotels and inns. Elmhurst Inn was romantic and comfortable with delicious breakfasts and great service. We stayed in the large Cadillac room and I even enjoyed taking a bath in a claw footed tub. The Inn is on a quiet street and is close to town for walking. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the afternoons and liked having the coffee and tea available all day, especially with home baked cookies!! Sheryl, the hotel manager was so friendly, helpful and professional. My only recommendation would be that the coffee should be hotter. There was a microwave available.
