Travelers' Choice
The Acadia Hotel- Downtown offers the best location in Bar Harbor. Situated on the town square (The Village Green), it is the geographic center of Bar Harbor, which makes it the top choice for summer and winter travelers. Surrounded by shops, galleries, and restaurants, the Acadia Hotel offers something for everyone. The hotel was originally built in 1880, but the rooms are pristine and modern. This is a fantastic boutique hotel that feels more like an Inn. All guest rooms are slightly different and have their own character. If you looking for a standard hotel chain, this is not the place for you. However, if you’re looking for location, character, cleanliness and 5-star customer service, the Acadia Hotel – Downtown can not be beat! This small family owned and operated hotel takes pride in keeping the rooms updated and renovated. Additionally, they go above and beyond to make sure each and every guest has a memorable experience not just at the hotel, but in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park as a whole. As a bonus, the hotel offers free parking for every guest - a big plus in downtown Bar Harbor. (Cars arriving late or large vehicles may have to park at the hotel’s annex lot half a block away.) The Hotel has two outdoor hot tubs that are open year-round, free bicycles for guests' use, as well as hiking equipment free of charge!

We chose this hotel for our 4 night stay because they offered parking with an EV charger so we could charge our Tesla and it was wonderful! We stayed in the Dorr Mountain suite and it was super spacious and clean! They had a balcony, refrigerator and good toiletries. The hotel is perfectly located right in town so you can walk to restaurants/bars/shops very easily. Due to the COVID pandemic, they provided bagged breakfasts based on your selections from the night before - seemed to be mostly store bought options, but there are a lot of great breakfast places nearby so it was totally sufficient. They removed garbage almost daily and replenished towels and cleaned the room about every two days. Checkin/out was efficient and WiFi worked well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time I visit Bar Harbor!!

Hotel and location are excellent. I love that we had a balcony directly connected to our room overlooking the main street. Jodi, the receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly. Would stay again when traveling to Bar Harbor

This was our second trip to Bar Harbor this summer. Town is a little different this year, but we really enjoyed our trip. The Acadia Hotel was wonderful. We loved the downtown location, hotel amenities, and the staff was top notch. Room was clean and comfortable. The owner and the staff went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed, and gave us great recommendations on where to eat and what hikes to do. The hotel has very good covid policies in place, we felt safe and welcome. We will be back!

It was the worst I’ve ever stayed at. They lie to you advertising it as a boutique hotel when in fact it’s a run-down inn located in a slanted house (yes, you’re staying in a room in an inn house which they do not disclose and it’s slanted like a sail boat), with no wi-fi (no, they have not fixed the wi-fi Since the latest review, just hasn’t happened), tiny room with squeaky bed and Terrible mattress (no, they have not upgraded like they promised in their review comments), a hard as a rock bagel for breakfast (c’mon, who wants to eat that), and all In all horrible experience. I will be Contacting the better business bureau as this place should not be lying and operating as a hotel...

The good: Pretty much everything in the hotel is new and kept immaculately clean, and the people who worked there are pleasant. They also offer bikes and various equipment you may want to use while visiting Acadia. The okay: The hotel is situated centrally in Bar Harbor. No views, but it's close to all the restaurants and shops. There are housekeeping services, but only after two nights. The not so good: The rooms are stingy, especially the bathrooms, and we found a lack of places to put things. We took a king room that the website describes as slightly larger than their queen rooms (and same apparently goes for the bathrooms), but it had no closet (just a confined alcove shared with a fridge), no coffee maker and no table, coffee table or desk. The TV was also very small by today's standards. The bathroom was so tiny we couldn't imagine how the queen bathrooms could actually be smaller. We had to be careful to avoid bumping into a small shelf in the bathroom because it partially blocks access to the sink. Lastly, and noting that this review is during Covid times, we ordered the complementary boxed continental breakfast on our first day but ended up throwing most of it out.
