My wife and I are checking out of the Dorr Mountain Suite tomorrow and could not be more bummed. We loved this place. An amazing house, clean & well-designed rooms, so many thoughtful amenities (the endless supply of coffee and drinking water we’re important to us, we read material from the book shelves, and borrowed hiking equipment), and super friendly staff. We rarely visit the same city/town twice in our global travels, but we have started planning a return trip to Bar Harbor, and our stay at Acadia Hotel is an important reason why.
This is my favorite hotel in Bar Harbor. It has so many amenities; hot tub, bikes, sauna, and the best location for walking around town. A friendly staff and special touches-snacks, selection of teas and upgrades. The rooms are always clean and quiet at night.
The location is PERFECT! The only time we needed the car was to go Acadia to XC ski or hike up Cadillac. You can walk to every shop or restaurant you need. The staff bent over backwards to make our stay great- from turning on the sauna for us and heating it up so we could just hop right in, to providing us with wine and snacks upon arrival, logs for our fireplace every day and excellent cleaning and turn down service, the Acadia Hotel has so much to offer in an ideal location.
The Acadia Hotel has charm, friendly staff, and a splendid location within a few minutes walk of Bar Harbor's most famous destinations. The inn retains the character and style of a bygone era, with the addition of totally modern conveniences. Our room was comfortable and well equipped -- plenty of heat and hot water (important features in Maine in December). The wifi was fine. The "light" continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise, with fruit, cereal, bagels, pastries, and juice along with coffee and tea. As others have noted, on-site parking for hotel guests is a real plus in the heart of Bar Harbor!
We just made a reservation for next year (July 2022) and had to cancel the day after making the reservation….we were told there was a nonnegotiable $20 fee for cancellation….really??? I would expect the quick notification with 9 months left to book would justify a waiver of the fees, but apparently not.
The staff at this hotel was friendly and helpful. They have coffee, toast, muffins and you could have an omelette made everyday if you want. There are many rooms spread among two buildings but I would categorize this as small. The location right in the town of Bar Harbor close to all restaurants, bars, shopping and close to Acadia national park(2 miles). The only negative I have is the room I selected, The Economy room. I knew it was going to be smaller than the normal room, but wow it was small. I wish it had a dresser, we had to put our suitcases in the bathroom on the floor. The A/C was noisy however the bed was comfortable. Would I stay there again, yes but not in the Economy room
This is a very nice hotel in regards to service, rooms and especially location to downtown Bar Harbor. The room we had on the 2nd Floor of the main building was a good size and the Mattress and pillows very comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine, but they added a very special touch by having a staff member cook omelets to order. We had a tasty fresh Bacon/Cheese and tomato omlete. Parking is a bit tight but manageable. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the main street with all the shops and restaurants. Almost next door is the Tap and Barrel. This is an excellent pub of local beer, good food and a place to watch sports or hang out with friends. This is a good choice for lodging in Bar Harbor.
We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable, and the stuff was super friendly. The location is perfect... Just a block from main street, so easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
Our stay at the Acadia Hotel --Downtown could not have been better. The staff was very accommodating in every way--- including allowing for early check-in to a room that was scheduled to be painted just prior to our arrival. The hotel offers free use of coolers, hiking equipment including poles and helmets, bikes etc... It is all designed to make the guest feel at home and to make your visit to Bar Harbor more enjoyable. The room was super clean and the breakfast was excellent. Having a drink on the front porch was made even more enjoyable with the use of propane heaters. As a frequent traveler it is not often that I am beyond impressed with a hotel and it's staff but the Acadia Hotel has reached that level. Will stay there again. Congrats to the staff for a first rate experience. Thank you.…
It’s all about Location and it is walking distance to anything downtown the rooms are clean but bathrooms very small. Nice breakfast omelet and the staff very friendly. Recommend a small vehicle for parking because it is tight. Bed is comfortable
