This motel was just what we needed -- super close to downtown Bar Harbor, minutes away from the park, and a nice room w/ mini fridge, cable TV, etc. And also a much better deal than all of the B&Bs whose rooms are probably much smaller. Would definitely stay here again. It was also really nice that we could arrive at 11pm (after their office closes). However my one comment would be that two employees both told me over the phone that my door would be unlocked upon arrival and that I could check in in the morning. We had a brief scare when we got there late at night and the door to our room was locked -- but luckily our key was in an envelope by the office front door, which we found soon afterwards. Would be better if we had known about the envelope first!
I would've given this motel a 0 or negative point rating if one exists! They charged me for an extra night($154) because we overstayed for a couple of hours. I tried to explain the reason to the woman at the front desk. She kept cutting me off and said she didn't want to hear more explanation. At the end she simply said "the conversation is over" and hung up on me!! I have never ever stayed in a hotel/motel with front desk being so rude and nasty! The reason I stayed past checkout time was because I went to ride the bike with my son in the morning. Then I crashed and had bruises and cuts all over on my right side of the body. I was in great pain and finally managed to get back to hotel. It was already past the checkout time. I did try to call my daughter who was in the motel room to pack and bring the luggage to the car. but either there were no signals or the signals were poor. And she had severe eczema flare and was in pain and couldn't do it. The cleaning guy never knocked on the door to ask her to leave. Also the front desk didn't call me after the checkout time to remind me. When I finally got back to the motel, I had to clean and wrap my wounds so it also took some time. Then I went to drop the key in the key box outside of the office. Since I stayed for 2 nights and they already charged me for 2 nights, I thought I didn't owe anything. So I just dropped the key without going into the office. And now she accused me of "not checking out" and said they "couldn't sell the room". But the checkin time for the next guest is 4pm and they have plenty of time to clean the room! I asked why didn't they give me a call. She said they "called" me many many times. What a lie! While i was outside, I never received a single call from them. I would think as a courtesy, if a guest goes past the checkout time, the hotel would give them a call to remind them. They just secretly charged me for a 3rd night without notifying me. I didn't find out until 3 weeks later! Don't stay in this hotel because it's over priced and you are not being treated with respect and courtesy!…
This wasn't the fanciest motel in the area, but it definitely served its purpose. It was close to a lot of the attractions, but isolated enough to have the tranquility we sought. We woke up and saw a couple deer grazing in the yard. No breakfast is supplied, but there were plenty of options for restaurants in the area.
Was happy to find that there was “room @ the Inn” when we inquired as to the possibility of spending the night there. Attractive, set up from the main road into Bar Harbor it appealed to us as a quaint place where you can drive and park right in front of the room. We were delighted to learn they were open (but planning on closing on the weekend for the season) and secured a room in Bldg. 3 Room 50...end room with a roomy king sized bed, comphy chairs and a GREAT shower! Had we allowed more time we would have stayed there an additional night!
This is an older hotel but kept clean and very comfortable bed. Excellent location--right on the main highway into Bar Harbor but before all the congestion. It was quiet and had a nice place to sit outside of the room.
