Let me just say that the Saltair Inn is a wonderful place, perfect location, comfortable, cozy and super clean but the real shine on this place are the owners! Matt and Kristi can't thank you enough for treating us and anyone who walks thru the front door as family! You are both

I snuck up for a quick solo trip to Bar Harbor after a work conference in Boston. This was my first time in Bar Harbor and was solo so wanted to treat myself. The Saltair Inn was perfect choice. Kristi and Matt are lovely hosts. The Harbor suite was wonderful, two fireplaces,

Stayed there for two nights over the weekend and it was great. They fixed us a wonderful breakfast in the morning. The room was perfect: the beds were comfortable, the bathroom had a heated floor, the view of the bay was spectacular. Soon after first arriving at the Inn, Matt

This was our first trip to Bar Harbor in the winter and our first stay at the Saltair Inn. Both exceeded expectations. Matt and Kristi were wonderful hosts who clearly shared our love and appreciation for the beauty of Bar Harbor and Acadia even during a winter snowstorm.

I write this review torn on overall rating. The Inn is nice and has a beautiful view and access to the island that is only accessible during low tide. It is also in a convenient location to town. The owners of the inn are very nice and helpful in helping you plan things to do

Gosh, I'm so sorry to read this review. It really sounds like we ruined your vacation. We do have 16 breakfast seats at the inn that are almost never full at the same time; however sometimes it does happen that people sit at the large group table in an awkward arrangement and have to be shuffled when the last guests arrive at breakfast. When Matt and I observe this, we do always ask the people to move around so the last two people can sit together. I do remember calling you to have breakfast because I believe you wanted to sit at a table for two with a view of the water and we offered to let you know when one was available. I think you may have had to wait about 5 minutes. Also, I apologize for the vacuum. It's quite possible the housekeeper was vacuuming the hallway at the end of their shift because on most days our housekeeper is finished between 1 and 2 p.m. as our afternoon check ins arrive at 3. Maybe they were unaware that you had returned to your room. The house is actually very well insulated, especially between walls and in between the second and third floor. Most often we hear about how quiet it is inside guest rooms. My guess is that you were hearing noise from the hallway. I'm sorry about this but some things are out of my control. While we have very few noise complaints, I would recommend to you and any future guests to review the floor plans. The rooms on the third floor are the most private and have limited traffic passing by their rooms for people who like to sleep late or take afternoon naps. Lastly, we have only run out of oil twice in the 13 years we have owned this inn. In one event, we went and got Diesel fuel and filled the oil tank in sub zero temperatures and the second time, the oil company was called and came out and filled the tank. The hot water was down for a short amount of time. I cannot recall a single time we were out of hot water for an evening and the following morning, but if this happened to you, I sincerely am sorry, but perhaps this may be a bit of an exaggeration. Again, we appreciate the kind things you had to say about us and our breakfast and apologize for what seems to be an unfortunate set of events that made your stay less than perfect. We'd love to have the chance to make it up to you on a future visit.
