We stayed at the Saltair Inn for 4 nights and our time was exactly what we needed. Beautiful accommodations located near the park/ MDI and delicious breakfasts. Kristi and Matt are very knowledgeable about the area and great inn keepers. The location allows for a short walk into Bar Harbor, easy bike ride or short drive into Acadia. Northwest and Southwest Harbor are also close.
The Saltair was heavenly. Matt and Chrissy were great Innkeepers and Chrissy know how to cook a great breakfast! I would definitely stay here again. The view from our room was gorgeous and the view from the back porch could not have been better. A really easy walk into town for good food and shopping. Oh, I can’t forget to mention Adam, who was very helpful carrying our bags up to the third floor.
A very special Bed and Breakfast, in a very special part of Maine, Bar Harbor! Our room- the master suite- was so incredible- I don’t know how to put it into words, but will try. There are two comfortable chairs set to look out the amazing windows, to the spectacular view of Frenchman Bay(and depending on the tide? The sandbar that connects Bar Island! Which we were able to walk right off of, into the backyard last night , after watching one of the most gorgeous sunsets we have seen in our nearly 2 weeks of travels in NE) beyond these chairs, is a living area with a comfortable couch to curl up on and watch TV, if you can drag your eyes away from the before-mentioned view … and a small fireplace to warm you. The king sized bed was very comfortable - and also had a couch to relax on, and a large fireplace to relax in front of…and the bathroom…wow! Just WOW! Beautiful shower with waterfall options , and a free standing LARGE bathtub - with jacuzzi jets! Heated flooring - I could go on forever! Just know , that with allll the amazing bed and breakfasts and inns to chose from in bar harbor? This is the RIGHT choice, and I leave here (reluctantly) today- already planning a trip back! Christi and Matt are warm and the breakfasts that they provide are SPECTACULAR - in presentation and taste! The inn keeper and chef that care for the house when they are not there, did the same: warm , friendly and skilled at providing a sanctuary for those of us moving along in our travels!…
You can't beat the views, the service or the location in Bar Harbor! Matt and Kristi were fabulous hosts! The breakfasts were delicious and our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck and looking at the bay. The land bridge is right there and we watched the July 4th fireworks from it - thanks to their recommendation! The Saltair is walking distance to everything!
We enjoyed 3 nights at the Saltair Inn. This beautiful Victorian has stood through many ‘Nor’easters….a comforting thought as our visit included some very windy weather. Our room had a gas fireplace and heated floors in the nicely renovated bathroom, which kept us cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the view over the water and the short walk up into downtown Bar Harbor. Krisit and Matt are the perfect host; friendly and laid back without being intrusive. They know the area well, having raised their family here. And they are great cooks! Breakfasts were delicious and sustaining for our mornings of short hikes and drives throughout the island and Acadia National Park. Would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here for our anniversary and the 4th of July, and it was absolutely perfect. It is in a great location that is easily walkable to anything in Bar Harbor, but still, it is just far enough away that you would not know anyone was around. Breakfast out on the porch was fantastic, as well as simply conversating with other guests out there at night with a glass of wine. The service was spectacular and very welcoming, and the rooms were quite spacious. We were in the Harbor Suite, and I would highly recommend this room due to the views and your own porch you share with the Acadia Suite. I would highly recommend here if you are wanting to hang out and relax or if you need a base camp to visit all of Bar Harbor and Acadia.
This was, by far, the best B&B I’ve ever stayed in. Relaxed and casual but elegant surroundings. Exceptional waterfront views and even more exceptional breakfast! Matt and Christie were the consummate hosts making us feel comfortable and appreciated. Loved it!
Perfect place in Bar Harbor. Near everything that one needs to do. Can walk to the sandbar and the Bar Island during low tide from the property. All great restaurants and entrance to the Acadia National Park is within a few blocks/miles away. The Hosts are very engaging and available. Great breakfast served by Matt and Kristi daily. 4 day stay with 4 different and wonderful breakfasts.
Just returned from a few days in Bar Harbor, exploring Acadia and enjoying the warm hospitality provided by our hosts at the Saltair Inn. There is no doubt that we will go back to spend more time in this spectacular National Park and the beautiful surrounding areas. We are also sure to make Saltair our home base again when we return. The nicest people, great breakfasts, clean, comfortable and lovely accommodations and you can walk or bike everywhere. Kristi and Matt do such a great job - they helped make this an unforgettable experience. Ellen and Hilly
This B&B is above and beyond - beautiful property, immaculate rooms, great amenities and within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, we were fortunate to have the Master Bedroom on the main floor which had a separate sitting room with a panoramic view. The breakfasts were an adventure every morning - Kristy is a wonderful cook! If you visit Bar Harbor this should be your #1 choice of your place to stay.
