The Hearthside Inn is a nine room B&B built at the turn of the century in 1907 and located on a quiet side street in town Bar Harbor. All rooms are decorated in victorian and traditional furnishings and offer private baths. Three rooms offer whirlpool tubs, three offer fireplaces for a chilly night and two offer private porches. Two rooms offer "detached private" baths and we provide soft cushy robes for your use during your stay with us. We include a fantastic full breakfast to start your day and home made afternoon treats with refreshments. Brian is a native to the island so he can help you with all the hiking and biking questions you may have to help you enjoy your visit while in beautiful Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Catherine is a native to Maine and make sure you check out her hand made soaps....they're very nice.

We stayed during late October with Covid-19 requirements in place. The inn, as well as the surrounding areas were extremely well prepared and open about masking and other requirements. restaurants were at about 40% capacity so making reservations for dinner was an excellent suggestion made by our host. We stayed in the Romeo and Juliet room which was very large and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom that included a jetted tub and separate shower. Connecting to Wi-Fi was easy and our signal strength was good. The inn was very clean, great location within walking distance of the area restaurants and shops. We had no trouble parking and preferred to park at the inn and walk around except on our days out to Acadia and the surrounding areas. The breakfasts were awesome and very well prepared and served. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Very helpful host with great ideas for both sunny and rainy day activities.

Our main intent for our visit to Bar Harbor was to hike in Acadia and the location of this B&B is great. After a hearty and delicious breakfast at the B&B we could be in the park early to hike before the crowds. We'd either grab lunch supplies at a nearby grocery store or pop back out to Bar Harbor for a delicious lobster roll. Bar Harbor has many great dinner options and most are within walking distance of Hearthside (be SURE to make reservations). Our hosts, Brian and Sara, also provided many books on Acadia hiking trails and carriage roads that could be borrowed for the visit. Brian checked in with us each morning and recommended hiking trails, showed us maps and gave directions and generally provided all the information we needed to maximize our hikes and pleasure in the park. I was pleased and comfortable with the measures taken to social distance. Masks were provided at the door if you happened to forget yours. The breakfast table options were well spaced and everyone followed appropriate measures. The house and our room were cozy and comfortable. We stayed in the Canterbury room which was on the third floor. It was quiet and private with a great bed to fall into after miles of hiking. The linens on the bed were delightful. We were so taken by the comfort of the inn and all the park had to offer that we stayed an extra night. I would highly recommend Hearthside for its location both in Bar Harbor and to Acadia National Park and for the comfort, highly personalized service and delicious breakfasts!

My husband and I stayed in the Churchill Room (the only room downstairs) for our one-year anniversary. We arrived unexpectedly early and Brian was there to greet us with a warm smile and lovely introduction to town. As this was our first visit to Bar Harbor, he offered us plenty to do, see, eat and drink (even with COVID restrictions in place)! I can't say enough good things about it. The location was central, with plenty of parking, and delicious multi-course breakfasts every morning. (We had fresh fruit - biscuits and gravy the first morning, fresh smoothie - waffles with Maine blueberry syrup the next.) We were able to dine on our private porch and take in the fresh fall air. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was well appointed. We hope to be back soon to this very charming town, and would definitely stay again.

We (a retired couple) enjoyed very much our 3 nights at Hearthside B&B in Bar Harbor. On our arrival afternoon, we were warmly greeted by Sara, who was assisting Brian, and the next morning we met Brian – and tasted the first of our three delicious breakfasts that he prepared. We enjoyed both the Emily Dickinson room (a spacious second floor room) and the Winston Churchill room (on the ground floor). It’s a tough choice, since we liked both, but we give the nod to the Emily room, despite the Winston room having a delightful covered porch for relaxation. The Inn is well-maintained and nicely appointed. Staff and guests practiced social distancing and other measures appropriate for current conditions. Breakfast tables were well-separated, with even an option of breakfasting outside. Our breakfasts comprised a starter and then a substantial main dish of the morning. If you would like a vegetarian breakfast, we found Brian willing to make the adjustment (just ask). Brian gave us guidance to help us in our Acadia N.P. hiking and sight-seeing. The Inn is on a quiet one-way street (High Street) close to the shops and restaurants of Bar Harbor (just a short, walk), without being caught up amid them.
