The hotel is exceptional at the attention to detail. Before we arrived the hotel staff called to communicate with us about our room check in and made sure we had rooms close to each other as we were traveling with friends. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel is conveniently located for access to restaurants, bars and excursions as well as parking. Paddy's the hotel restaurant has a very friendly staff and delicious food.
This was a very nice hotel and almost perfect. Here's our list of pros and cons: PROS -Location right on the harbor, beautiful views from our balcony. Excellent for walking anywhere in the harbor area. Bike shop, gift shops, restaurants, etc -Big room, great shower, free bottled water and Keurig coffee (unlimited in the kiosk area for each floor) -Parking was easy -Restaurant attached -Nice lobby -Excellent customer service CONS -no hot tub. I must not have read the description well since it mentions having a hot tub but it's actually across the street at another hotel. And with the cooler temperatures and strong wind in October, neither one of us wanted to trek across to another hotels hot tub.....which was also pretty crowded when we went to find it. which isn't too surprising since (2) hotels are sharing it. -Attached restaurant. So this is also under my "pros" because it is nice to have a restaurant/bar attached to the hotel but when we arrived at 8:45pm on the night we checked in, they couldn't seat us since they closed at 9pm. Nor could we sit and relax for a drink at the bar. So it was disappointing that the restaurant didn't seem to cater to the hotel guests very much since it wasn't really in the hotel, but just attached. But due to COVID, they have needed to reduce their hours. Which is understandable. Yet I do appreciate having an actual bar in the hotel though for this reason, more flexibility for guests. -I believed West Street was priced the same as the two other big hotels across the street...each with their own hot tubs and bars/restaurants in the hotel rather than attached (I believe). And I did try to book those hotels first but they were all full for our time frame. So overall, not sure the amenities warranted the room rate at the West Street. Overall, would I recommend the hotel? -Yes as long as the amenities meet your needs. Would I stay at West Street again? -Yes if the other two hotels across the street were booked or this one had a considerably better deal.…
Wonderful hotel with beautiful views of Mt. Desert Narrows.. The staff were all friendly and helpful with what was open and closed in and around the area. Finn is just adorable and the kids looked forward to seeing him everyday. Room was clean, comfortable and everyone made sure our stay was pleasant. One of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in a hotel. This will be where we stay for now on when we visit the area. The restaurant Paddy's is fantastic. Every meal was delicious, far better than some of the surrounding restaurants. Especially the one up the street that had us wait an hour over our reservation time for what was an ok meal at best. If you have never visited Acadia National Park in the fall you are missing out on a incredible visual experience. The colors and smell from the evergreens are unforgettable. …
This is a lovely hotel. Great location, wonderful views of the harbor, big room and bath and convenient parking. A nice touch is the coffee/water/tea area in the hallway. Serve yourself any time day or night. The lighting in the bathroom could be brighter but otherwise, the room was wonderful. And the location couldn't be better; around the corner from shops and restaurants and the shore walk is just a few minutes away. The one disappointment was a big one. Coming from outside of Maine, I was required to complete a state certification with respect to Covid; standard procedure and not a problem. But when returning from dinner, the lobby was full of people sitting, laughing and talking; all without face masks. Rules and protocols should apply to everyone at all times especially now.…
I would highly recommend the West Street Hotel. It has one of the best views in town and a great location in the middle of all the action. However, what has brought me back seven years in a row and will keep me coming back in the future is the excellent customer service. From the front desk to the cleaning staff, they work non-stop to make your stay relaxing and special. My family and I love visiting Bar Harbor every year and one of the main reasons is due to the guaranteed great experience at the West Street Hotel.
