Great stay in Bar Harbor! Room was very clean ! Breakfast was absolutely delicious each morning . They had gluten free for my husband. So many things to see with Acadia park and take in all the shoreline views. Loved walking downtown, which was only a block away. Would stay again !

This inn is the most hospitable place I have ever stayed. The room is clean and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect. The staff is and other patrons have been super friendly. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Would definitely recommend!

The location is perfect for exploring the town. However, the guest house is essentially unstaffed. Our room was small but the bed was very comfortable and the toiletries are high end. The breakfast (which they market hard on their website, overly so) was good but nothing extraordinary. Service at breakfast was slightly abrupt, no frills and wait staff who were in such a rush to bus dishes (loudly!) they had no care for the noise or 'ambience' of the dining room. If location is important this is a decent option but it's neither as high-end nor high-service as the website suggests. And you're paying handsomely (!) for the location, not much else.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback here, and for further allowing me to reach out to personally you to speak with you about your comments. It was very helpful to know you are a business traveler who stays in many five-star hotels across the country, and to further know this was your first time to Bar Harbor. With four million visitors anticipated to visit Acadia National Park this year, our area is known as a premium destination, and you mentioned prices were higher than what you are used to. We appreciated hearing that you found our servers in the restaurant to be pleasant, and our summer cottage to be a beautiful home; these additional comments you provided in your email were so wonderful to hear. We also had a chance to chat about the understaffed impression you had, and I was glad to have a chance to clear that up for you. It is our pleasure to be available to our guests 24 hours a day, to be available at breakfast, and to meet and greet you from 8AM - 8PM. While we do move back and forth between the two inns, we are indeed staffed and eager to assist! We are always a phone call away and willing to go the extra mile. For example, I know my girls saw notes on your reservation about you wanting a dinner reservation and they reached out to you immediately. And when they did not hear from you, they reached out again with even more information than you asked for. They were concerned about your experience as you were here only one night, and they wanted to help you make the most of your visit. You let us know that for you, there is a difference between a three, four, and five-star experience. While I can understand that there is a level of attention and personalization that you expected to qualify us as five-stars, I believe it is more than three-star service we provided. We will continue to work hard to ensure all of our guests' expectations are exceeded!

We were in Bar Harbor during Hurricane (tropical Storm) Ida. Luckily the Bass Cottage had a cancellation and we got the room. Great place to stay, nothing like a really good breakfast when you're biking all day. The Bass Cottage Inn is the best place to completely relax after an awesome day of sightseeing. The Inn keeper/Owner did everything he could to make sure our stay was perfect. The staff is equally diligent in meeting all of your needs. Located right at the harbor and within a few blocks of great restaurants, it's everything you need.

How lucky we are to have met you! We greatly appreciate that you took the time to let us know how much you enjoyed staying with us, from your pre-arrival experience all the way to those last moments. Our proximity to Acadia National Park's connector trails and carriage roads makes our location a great fit for those on bikes. We hope you were able to catch the views of those lapping waves and misty moments, courtesy of Ida. With a view of the harbor and access to the Shore Path, catching the waves is easy! We look forward to hosting you again during your next visit!

Great B and B. Stayed in the Large Verbena room with nice large bathroom. Since we stayed 4 nights having a larger room worth the price. Steps away from the BarHarbor main drags or shoreline path but very quiet. Breakfast very good with choices . For 2 days they made up a nice berry/fruit bowl for me as the entree. Guests very social during evening wine hour.. nice to share. Plenty of parking. Be aware Limited availability except at checkin of hosts/manager so if you need planning help maybe not so much. 2nd for was ok with stairs but as and older couple would not have wanted to be on third floor We spent a lot of time choosing inn and room and were pleased with our selection. Other hotels seemed paced and crowded so this quiet in town B and B is a great choice. Highly recommended

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. Verbena is one of my favorite rooms, as I love the light and airy décor. It's such a spacious room, and I am happy to hear you were able to relax. The location of the room is perfect, as is our cottage. Steps from the Shore Path, walking distance to shops and restaurants, yet quiet and tucked away - our location can't be beat! We offer a sweet, savory, and healthy option for breakfast each morning, and all components of our cuisine are cooked to order with love by our resident chef. Featuring local flavors, we know even a bowl of fresh berries or our homemade granola will always receive rave reviews! It's great you let guests know about the stairs, as it helps others plan accordingly for a trip up them. And we are always here to assist. What we want our guests to know is how much we are available. Even though you may not see us in a traditional manner, know that we are doing our part to keep you safe in light of the Delta variant. While you do not see us corralling guests quickly through a Front Desk or lobby area, we are constantly texting and speaking with our guests behind the scenes in order to provide personalized service 24 hours a day. We interact with many guests, and we want you all to know we are even more available to you than you would find elsewhere, given our dedication to serve you. We hope you will come back to see us again soon!
