Lovely cottage just a block off Main St., but far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. So convenient to town; we only needed a car to go to Acadia. The B&B is lovely and the breakfast is delicious with three options available every morning. Fresh baked cookies are served every afternoon and wine and cheese is served at 5 PM. We met Eddie the owner who takes a very hands on personal interest in his B&B.
We were there the first week of August, and had a absolutely wonderful stay. The room was exactly as pictured, and was clean and so comfortable, as was the entire inn. The location in the heart of Bar Harbor could not be beat: you can walk to everything. The included breakfast was DELICIOUS. We had plans to at least go to a local breakfast spot I like on one morning, but the breakfast offered was so good we stayed! We also very much enjoyed having wine and cheese with other guests. It was a very nice touch. Overall we LOVED our stay, and would definitely return.
This quaint Inn provided us 3 lovely nights of very comfortable sleep and superb service. The staff is professional and friendly, and the breakfasts were delicious. It's just off Main Street and close to the harbor. We'll definitely return!
Quintessential New England with elegant and updated furnishings. Great night sleep on comfortable beds & quality linens. Great location, walkable to all downtown shops & harbor. Wonderful breakfast every morning with all the trimmings. Freshly baked cookies & apples available all day. Wine & cheese happy hour is the perfect ending to a full day of exploring. Cannot say enough positive words to describe this beautiful and luxurious Inn.
My husband and I stayed in the Sesame Room at this wonderful B&B last week. Such a great spot! Everything was perfect! Our room was spacious and clean with a super comfortable bed and ample living space. The bathroom was large and nice, with thick, plush towels. The common areas were wonderful-there is a butler's pantry with an ice maker, coffee and cookies. The living rooms were well furnished and the dining area was bright and cheery. Breakfasts were delicious! Each morning we were given a choice of a sweet or savory entree, as well as lighter options, with a nice selection of juice and some great coffee. The innkeeper, Eddie, was such a gracious host and obviously takes pride in creating a pleasant experience for this guests. We enjoyed our stay so much we're already planning our next visit. Thanks Bass Cottage Inn!…
This was my first time in Bar Harbor, and I decided to splurge on a really nice B&B. Sadly, I would have to say that my stay here was disappointing - especially given the expense. I chose the Bass Cottage Inn because it was in the heart of downtown. But the town center is so small, everything is really within walking distance. Almost every B&B is walking distance to town. My room was Salt & Pepper. The bed was super comfortable, but really high. I'm 5'9", and the top of the bed was hip high. It was a good climb up for sure! Likewise, the shower is a whirlpool tub, also with a high side. I'm fit and able, but it could prove challenging for someone to get in/out as there are no safety rails to hold onto. Just worth knowing, in the event that is an issue. As I pulled up this page to write the review, I noticed that another review mentioned coffee and cookies and a butler's pantry for guests. None of that was pointed out to me at check in. I would have loved a cup of coffee before breakfast opened at 8, without having to go into town. And, the big attraction of staying at a B&B is always the second B (breakfast). I found it truly unimpressive. We have a local cafe in my hometown that consistently does a much better and more creative job with breakfast than the Bass Cottage Inn. While I look forward to returning to Bar Harbor (my son is attending school nearby), I will not be staying at the Bass Cottage Inn again.…
Our first time to Bar Harbor. So glad I found this gem of a place. Between the amazing location, gourmet breakfast served daily, the 24x7 coffee, tea and cookies with guest fridge in their lovely butlers pantry, beautiful 1st flr lounge areas , luxurious bedding and bedrooms, cldnt have asked for a nicer place. The only thing we didn't try was the wine and cheese nightly as we were on the go during that time. There is a reason this Inn has 5 stars and deservedly so.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely inn, lots of charm, unbeatable location, super friendly staff and owner. So close to shops and restaurants, yet set back just a bit so it’s quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed the breakfasts and evening wine and cheese. Exceptionally clean. Would return again in the future, for sure.
Bass Cottage Inn was a fabulous place for us to stay during our recent trip to Bar Harbor. Secluded yet close enough to walk to everything Bar Harbor....no more than a 5 minute walk to restaurants, shopping, green space, and beautiful views of Frenchman's Bay. We would take a nightcap out and sit along the bay to enjoy the beautiful evenings. Lovely inn and our room (salt and pepper) was comfortable and inviting. Delicious breakfast in the morning served by a friendly staff. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at Bass Cottage. Our room was beautiful and private. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the evening wine socials. The location was perfect! So many fun things to do in and around Bar Harbor - we walked everywhere. We happened to visit during a warm week - although our room was air conditioned, the rest of the Inn wasn't and became quite warm. This may be typical in Maine, since they have limited warm weather.
