Staying at Emery's Cottages is a uniquely wonderful and refreshing experience. The cabins are clean and simple, and Emery's is conveniently located down the road from Acadia National Park (5 minutes) and downtown Bar Harbor (10 minutes). The place is peaceful and serene with each cabin only a short stroll down to the beach on Frenchmen Bay. There you can experience the most spectacular sunsets to be found anywhere! Check out the website's pictures.
My wife and I have been vacationing there for 20 years, often several times each summer and fall. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are kayaks and paddle boards to rent or bring your own. The Bay is lovely. You can see porpoises, loons, and many varieties of sea birds. There are many repeat customers like us and it is always a pleasure to see them again, year after year. . We like to hike, walk, and bike in the Park. But, we also like to just hang out for the day or part of a day at Emery's reading on our cabin porch, under an apple tree, or on a chair on the lawn down by the beach. The place is a terrific find! You will love it!

My story about Emery's: Imagine waking up in the morning, leaving your private cabin with the "Grandma's House" spring clamp on the wooden screen door. You walk 15 yards without crossing the road to the rocky beach. Turning right at low tide, you will see the sun rising. You continue to walk along the water until you arrive at the "ovens", natural caves cut out of the rock wall of Mount Desert Island. The ovens can only be reached on foot by the owners and guests of the homes built on Frenchman's Bay. You are one of those guests. As you look at the ocean, you see porpoises frolic, seals popping their heads up, and loons diving for breakfast. Along the edge of the water, you will always find sand dollars, snails, barnacles, washed up jellyfish, and crabs. Frequently, you will find starfish of all different sizes. You can then hop into a kayak or onto a paddleboard, spending an hour or a whole day on the bay. Looking up, the resident eagle may give you a wave. The freshly roasted coffee (so fresh, it is roasted onsight) is waiting for you in the coffee cottage where many of the guests gather to visit, share their experiences and recomme ndations, and sometimes become lifelong friends. If you are a shy one, your privacy is always respected as you enjoy your coffee on the porch of your cabin. Now your day begins. You can drive 5 minutes to Acadia National Park or 10 minutes to Bar Harbor, or you can just soak up the quiet with a book under the apple tree. However you choose to spend your day, you can end it with one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island! Since discovering Emery's over 20 years ago. We will never stay anywhere else.

We happened to snag two nights here last minute (drove in on a Saturday, needing 2 nights starting on Sunday). Staff was super friendly, and were very accommodating. The place is extremely clean and our cottage was set back from the bay (#5). It was very relaxing sitting on the lounge chairs by the water (chairs could use an upgrade; missing some bands, one fell back a few times). Only reason for not giving this place 5 stars, is that we were able to stay at a different cottage rental close by, that offered a bigger cottage with more amenities for a lower price.

We absolutely loved our little cottage (5A) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved walking the beach- just steps from our door and enjoyed lovely sunsets each evening. It was so quiet and peaceful, considering every cottage looked to be booked. There was no AC, which wasn’t a problem at all. Very convenient to Hulls Cove Visitors Center if you want to explore Acadia National Park and just 2-3 minutes to great restaurants nearby. There is also coin laundry available on premise. We will definitely stay again and are already planning our next trip. Almost everyone we talked to had been coming here for years and I can see why.

We are so pleased with our trip to Bar Harbor. Emery Cottages is THE place to stay. Close to town but far enough out to have incredible views and waterfront location. The cottage was very well appointed, clean, cozy and comfortable. The grounds of Emery are beautiful. Sitting areas, picnic tables, beachfront to walk, kayaks, boat tours , daily fresh coffee, laundry room, cook area. The hosts are so open and friendly. They had so much knowledge of the area and local history as well. And the sunsets are amazing. We WILL return to Emery Cottages one day soon.

Eight of us surprised my mother-in-law with a trip to Bar Harbor with help from Chris, one of the owners. Each couple had their own little cottage and spent time together on the lawn and beach. Everything was clean and the property is beautiful. It's a quick drive to downtown Bar Harbor, Acadia and numerous restaurants. Chris and Ashley were fabulous hosts. We hope to all gather again at Emery's Cottages next summer.

Emery's Cottages on the Shore was the perfect, affordable place to stay for our trip to Acadia/Bar Harbor. Amenities are minimal but sufficient (morning coffee was all we used), but there is a laundry room and a guest kitchen available. Not fancy at all, but very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Our hosts also had great recommendations for restaurants! We would definitely stay here again.

My home away from all things tense. A little bit of heaven especially st sunset. Cottages are clean and charming as are the hosts. As soon as I turn in I know I am relieved of real world problems. Coffee on the shore in the morning and sunsets to hold me until the next time. Love everything about this place. Honest and time suspension.

This place was a great stay. We stayed in a single bed unit (no kitchen) for two nights. Room was clean, bathroom was clean and the location was serene and very peaceful. It had a great view of the water. Hot coffee ready every morning. Bonus was having an onsite laundry room. Ample parking and within minutes of Acadia national park. If you are looking for solitude and rejuvenation, I highly encourage you to stay here versus in the heart of Bar Harbor.

A few cabins have parking adjacent, while most do not. But the parking is not far at all, jand you can temporarily park right in front of most cabins to unload. The one closest to the water (1A?) you can’t park directly in front, by it’s only about 5-10 yards from the parking by the office.
There are more places to choose from in the Bar Harbor area.
