As some of the previous guests have commented, yes, the location is very convenient and the views, peace and quite are wonderful. The cottage was clean and although rather small it was enough for the two of us. Staff was nice but didn't go beyond their usual routine. On the other hand, our cottage (and most probably the rest) definitely... More

The position of the cottages is ideal, even boasting its own private beach. However the cottage we stayed in really needs updating to bring it up to today's required standards of comfort, which is perhaps reflected in the price. Some of the features, such as the water taps are definitely vintage, if not antique! However, all the necessary plumbing worked!... More

We were here for a few days. The cottage is ok. Sort of dated and could use a little fixing. However, it’s perfectly fine for a short stay. The cottage is of moderate size and relatively clean. The main room consists of a bed, the dresser with a tv on top, a night stand. There is also a table near... More

Reasons for the 3 stars on the service and cleanliness are that they don't do even basic cleaning services for you and the house/cottage is older with some dusty area... It is no fancy cottages and I happened to get the one and only largest one with the full kitchen, nice size bathroom and living room. It's a bit old... More

We spent three nights. We needed to air the place out as excessive air freshner was used. The cabin was clean & the bed was comfortable, which were my priorities. The "kitchen" consisted of a small fridge with a freezer, a small microwave, a hotplate that looked like it was from the 40s, a sink held up with a wooden... More

Originally we were going to reserve this cottage for a 3-night stay but found another place much closer to down town Bar Harbor so it was easier to walk everywhere. Thankfully we only stayed here 1 night. Unfortunately, it's a short drive from down town / entrance of Acadia National Park which isn't a huge concern. However, the cottages are... More

The cottages are very old, probably from the 1950's, so was kind of neat that they reminded me of trips as a child. But if you are looking for anything fancy this is not the place for you. This is almost like camping, just the basics, but kind of fun at the same time - campy. They are also very... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bay Meadow Cottages offer classic Maine cottages on Mount Desert Island. Our bright white cottages are gathered on a grassy meadow looking out at the tranquil bay in Salsbury Cove, part of Bar Harbor's popular Frenchman's Bay. Our 14 classic housekeeping cottages are tidy and comfortable with kitchenettes and private baths, ideal for a couple of nights or an entire week in the Bar Harbor region. Our setting is quiet, with private shore access for our guests. Chairs, picnic tables and fire pits grace our lawns, and provide a pleasant setting to enjoy your morning coffee or roast some marshmallows and reflect on your day's adventures. Families enjoy our cottages, especially the 2 bedroom cottages that offer more space for everyone and beautiful views of the cove. Couples enjoy our one room cottages with a private bath, cable TV, kitchenette, mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave and electric cook top. A BBQ area with gas grills is available if you would like to cookout. We provide free Wi-Fi on the property so you can stay in touch while you enjoy your getaway to Bar Harbor. Our cottages are an easy 5 minutes to Acadia National Park gates and just 10 minutes from Bar Harbor's downtown restaurants, shops, and tours. Guests are welcome to bring their own kayak or canoe to launch right from our shore access. Don't forget bikes to tour the 45-miles of carriage roads of Acadia National Park and surrounding area. Remember the binoculars for spotting bald eagles, seals and wildlife while you are out exploring. Bay Meadow Cottages is convenient to all of Mount Desert Island's attractions, just a few miles after you cross the Trenton Bridge on quiet Old Bar Harbor Road, just beyond the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory. We are technically in Bar Harbor and more specifically in the small village of Salsbury Cove, a hamlet of Bar Harbor. Our Innkeeper and a friendly staff are on premise to welcome you, and offer information on things to see and do on Mount Desert Island. ... more   less
