Gail and Carroll were amazing and hooked us up with Cottage 4. It was the only one available on a holiday weekend so we took it. The first striking thing on this property is how tidy and organized everything is kept. You can tell they really care about each cabin like its their own home. The view from our table and deck was so good, we decided to go to the supermarket and get food to cook. We saved a ton of money eating breakfast in the cabin and grilling dinner on the deck most days. They also have kayaks and canoes on site, but we regret not making time for it. The rate was really affordable and cheaper than a NYC hotel! They have all kinds of brochures in their office if you are lost on what to do. We will definitely be back Gail and Carroll!!!

Room Tip: Some cabins have fireplaces but #4 does not. Most of them look to have a good view.

Seaside Cottages were exactly what we were hoping for in lodging on MDI and we can't recommend it enough! Our cottage was beautifully updated where it counts the most...kitchen and bath...and so clean and well maintained. The entire property is beautiful, quiet and relaxing. The weather didn't cooperate, so we were unable to enjoy the available canoes and kayaks. Carroll and Gail are exceptional hosts and took the time to recommend restaurants and answer questions about the Island.

This place is simply awesome. Beautifully tucked under serene setting (Woods and Ocean on each side) , very clean, comfortable and abundantly stocked dwellings and above all two of very simple and nice hosts , there is every reason to think that once you stay here you always want to come back.
Its a place hardly 10 minutes from the humdrum of the Bar Harbor town and less than 10 minutes from one of the entrances of Acadia national Park, it just serves what is promises and that too in a most stupendous way.

We spent a week in cottage #3. Amenities were just what we needed; kitchen was well-stocked in terms of dishes/pots/pans/utensils. Proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor was excellent. But what made this place so special was the amazing view and daily experience of the tides right outside our front door. We hiked the beach during low tide - you can get a long walk in! We sat in the adirondack chairs, watched gulls breaking clams and an eagle fishing. On several days the sunsets were spectacular, as were the stars in the night sky. There are 8 separate cottages, and the setting allows for privacy. We did not use the canoes, rowboats, or kayaks, but a range of choices is offered with the cottage rental. The hosts/owners of the cottages were easy to work with - we were concerned about making a deposit on a cottage and then potentially cancelling due to Covid, they were clear that we would receive a 100% refund if that happened.

Our second stay at Seaside Cottages. This time in cottage #7, the only one available. It is just steps from the office with a partial view of the cove. Everything you need is provided and it is very clean and well maintained. Carol and Gail have been doing this a long time and they know how to make it seem effortless.

We stayed in cottage #1. Spacious and clean. Wonderful high ceiling in living room.
The view out to the cove is wonderful. Large deck and bbq. We walked the beach with the tide out and enjoyed the sun in the adirondack chairs. Kayaks available but have to time them for high tide. Although no AC, we had cool nights and used fans when needed. 15 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. 10 min to Acadia park entrance. Excellent breakfast and lunch across the street at Mother's Kitchen if you don't want to cook.
The owners, Gail and Carroll could not have been more gracious and responsive.

We were so blessed they had a cottage to accomodate us! It is our first trip to beautiful Maine from South Louisiana. This spot was the icing on the cake! It was charming, clean, inviting. The views over the cove, STUNNING!
If we can make it back to Maine again oneday, this is our pick for accomodations!

When we travel, we enjoy staying in cabins or cottages and have stayed in many. Nothing can compare to this beautiful cottage. I found Seaside Cottages on an on-line search and booked cottage #7 for my husband and me. It was like having your own private condo. The cottage was immaculate and had every possible amenity you can imagine. Right down to bar soap and shampoo in the bathroom to a package of coffee to make your own pot of coffee. Of all the various cabins and cottages we have stayed in over many years, we have never had these kind of amenities. It has a full sized refrigerator, large microwave, 4 burner stove and everything you would need to cook and serve your food. They even had the lobster crackers - which we will use when we buy our lobsters today. The view from our picture window overlooking the ocean was beautiful. We would definitely come back. It is set way off the road so it is very peaceful and quiet and the grounds are very well maintained. Acadia National Park is just a few miles away which we plan to visit today. I would recommend anyone coming to Bar Harbor to check them out!!

The location is amazing , the view from the shore awesome , and the cottages cozy, but they could have been cleaned a little better. The kitchen was nice but the rest of the furniture outdated. They were expensive comparatively to the other cottages for what you get.

We stayed in cottage 4. Kitchen was wonderful. We went to Hannaford's and picked up breakfast/lunch food and enjoyed eating int he cabin overlooking the bay. Cooked on a the grill a few nights. Nice small living room with futon and TV. 2 double beds. Very comfortable. Bathroom nice and up to date. Gorgeous deck with table and chairs. We were in Bar Harbor the week of July 4th, with a heat wave. No a/c in the cabin, but no worries. The back of our cabin in the shade/wooded, and the front close to the water. Nice breeze in the evening and we used the fans, and slept wonderfully every night. Close to everything, can get to downtown Bar Harbor, Somesville, Southwest Harbor, Acadia National Park. A good jumping off point to get to everywhere with the luxury of being on the water. We used the complimentary kayaks 2 times, and loved swimming in the unusually warm Atlantic Ocean. The owners were very welcoming, informative and did everything to please the guests. Very quiet setting. Totally recommend.

Are kayaks available for rent?
Answer from Jeannie_Schultz
Boston, Massachusetts1 contribution2 helpful votes
No Kayaks, but there are canoes for guest use. We have rented kayaks for the week and they are delivered to the cottages. Gail and Carroll allow guests to keep their kayaks along the fence. The bay is such a beautiful place. It's nice to be able to put out directly from the cottages. Don't kayak on Long Pond where the kayak rentals are. The wind on the way back is a killer.
