We stayed in the 2-bedroom #3 cottage right on the cove and LOVED it! Every morning you wake up to the beauty of Maine, gulls breaking clams, and a beautiful view right out your big front window. Hosts, Gail and Carroll are just wonderful and do everything they can to help you out. I appreciated that the cottage was spotless, well-stocked, and well-maintained. Canoes and kayaks are free to use. Faces westerly, so if there's a pretty sunset you'll see it. Only downside, and this isn't their fault, is that the internet is spotty, could only get it on our phones.
All of the reviews are accurate -- but curiously none of them mention that there is no air conditioning in these modern oceanfront cabins. We endured NO dusk breezes but PLENTY of mosquitoes so bad we couldn't go outside to look for the promised breezes. Cooking in the fully-outfitted kitchen (again, gorgeous) was not an option when it's over 90 degrees inside (but cooler outside-- frustrating!) The sun comes right into the cabin, the views are incredible, but the two fans they provide aren't enough. We'll definitely be back, but not in mid-summer.
There is not one bad thing to say about this place. Gail and carrol accommodated us more then any place could have! We thoroughly enjoyed the access to the water with the kayaks/roboats. Also the grills on the deck to cook dinners on the sunset. We stayed in cabin 7, only downfall was we were not right on the water like other cabins are. We went as boyfriend and girlfriend and left as fiancés! Awesome place, highly recommended!
These are well kept and well appointed cabins near Acadia National Park. Hosts are knowledgeable and friendly and will have you feeling like a local in no time. Beautiful scenery and quiet if you are looking for some peaceful down time. Great find!
We stayed in cottage 4. Kitchen was wonderful. We went to Hannaford's and picked up breakfast/lunch food and enjoyed eating int he cabin overlooking the bay. Cooked on a the grill a few nights. Nice small living room with futon and TV. 2 double beds. Very comfortable. Bathroom nice and up to date. Gorgeous deck with table and chairs. We were in Bar Harbor the week of July 4th, with a heat wave. No a/c in the cabin, but no worries. The back of our cabin in the shade/wooded, and the front close to the water. Nice breeze in the evening and we used the fans, and slept wonderfully every night. Close to everything, can get to downtown Bar Harbor, Somesville, Southwest Harbor, Acadia National Park. A good jumping off point to get to everywhere with the luxury of being on the water. We used the complimentary kayaks 2 times, and loved swimming in the unusually warm Atlantic Ocean. The owners were very welcoming, informative and did everything to please the guests. Very quiet setting. Totally recommend.…
