Royal Orchid Guam is a decent hotel in the Tumon area. The hotel is located along the hotel rows near the beach. It is also a 10 minute drive from the airport. Hotel rate is among the cheapest in the area. Paid around $120 per night. If you are looking for a fancy hotel, this is not for you. There’s a Tony Roma and an Italian restaurant inside the building. An always crowded ABC store, a convenience store is a few steps away. There’s also a Jamaican Grill restaurant nearby. KMart is a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is old. So set your expectations at minimum level. The room is ok. Standard amenities are available (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrush and slippers). There’s a swimming pool at the 6F but looks old too. If you’re looking for a decent place to sleep, then this hotel should be ok. Hotel staff are all nice and courteous. …
This hotel was booked for me as part of a brief business trip through Guam. It is well located near the airport and the restaurant strip and, to be fair, the staff were pleasant enough. But it is a pretty depressing affair once you’ve checked in. It was dark and damp, over air conditioned and under repaired. The so called ‘Executive Club’ (happy hour every day) was never open and the room was given only the most basic service (no tissues in the boxes, no water in the fridge etc). This place needs a major overhaul. I just hope it was cheap.
An old hotel, past it’s prime. The best thing about this hotel, though, is it’s located right at the main road and that the free shuttle buses stops right in front of it. The rooms are big and the AC is cold. It also has the basic amenities like tv, fridge, hair dryer , flat iron and free toiletries. However, the towels are old, the shower door creeks, the mirrors are aged but the room is clean. If all you need is a place to sleep and keep your things, then this hotel will do. The front desk people are very nice and accommodating. Another plus is that there are restaurants and convenience store on the same building and beside it are souvenir shops and more restaurants including the famous Jamaican Grill.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for its location, service and value. This hotel is quite old and is in great need of renovation. Overall, the interior is rather rundown and shabby. The carpets in the hallways are very old and stained and the room I stayed in was in need of structural repair. The pool on the 6th floor looked to be very small and rather dirty and unused and the fitness room has no air conditioning and also appears to be unused. If breakfast is included in the room price my advice is to eat elsewhere and also if it’s not. The breakfast was rather really terrible. No fresh fruit, sorry looking scrambled eggs, soggy and cold hash browns, and overcooked and cold sausage patties. The choices of bread are limited to two and are not great either. Do not pay for breakfast here. Apart from breakfast there are at least three excellent restaurants located inside the hotel including Italian, Japanese, and American. I tried both the American (Tony Roma’s) and the Italian (Capricciosa) and both were super. Continuing on the positive side, the parking is super convenient if you have rented a car, with the parking garage connected directly to the hotel lobby. The housekeeping and guest services are also first rate. The room was cleaned everyday the moment I left in the morning and was equipped with basic amenities including an electric kettle, mini fridge, microwave, room safe, and separate bathtub. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for its location, service, and value.…
We chose this hotel because it was close to the bus stop for shuttles to Guam Premier Outlets and Micronesia Mall. It is an old hotel with outdated furnishings and antiquated elevators. The first room assigned to us was really cold that we had to increase the temperature at night. Lo and behold, the whole room was moist by morning with water dripping from the ceiling and puddles of water on the floor. Apparently, the air-conditioning units for their rooms run 24/7 at a fixed temperature whether or not there are guests occupying the rooms (you cannot turn up the dial to warmer temperature nor turn it off). To keep the air-con running even when no one is using is too wasteful and harmful to the environment. We requested to be transferred to another room which they did. It was next to the swimming pool that needs upgrading (it can get noisy when there are guests swimming). The light bulbs in the room's foyer were flickering and there was no ample lighting so we had to pull the curtains to get enough light. The toilet likewise had to be fixed before we could use it. And we had to request for cloth hangers and pillows. On a positive note, hotel is near restaurants and convenience stores as well as bus stops for shuttles to GPO and Micronesia Mall that make shopping convenient. Other than that, the hotel needs major upgrading.…
