My friend and I were born in the same hospital. Our Mothers were in the same room. Our 73 birthdays together. The apartment was a good size for us with two bedrooms and a view from the balcony. No problems.

We stayed in the little cottage #1, with a nice view of the ocean. There was 12 of us total in the cottages, and we spent all our time bodysurfing and boogie boarding and just replenishing our spirits in Waimanalo. Exactly what we needed, to unplug and get over the last 2.5 years of insanity. Love the laid back and slow style of Waimanalo, as opposed to the bustly of Waikiki. If you want spa treatments and massages, this is no the place for you, but we weren't looking for any of that. the one caveat was that it was difficult for my wife to get to the beach on her mobility scooter, we had to go down the street a bit to find a path that was not so much deep sand. That's the city's fault though, not the cottages responsibility. Seems weird that 50 years after the Americans with Disabilities act was passed, there's still places that my wife can't get to easily. Everyone deserves beach access! Anyway sorry about the rant, we loved this place and will be back again ASAP.

Aloha Thank you very much for your review! I am so sorry to hear your wife had difficulties getting to the beach. I am so sorry to read this. If we would have known we would have suggested renting a beach wheel chair. The property does coordinate messages on property or on the beach including yoga on the beach. Before your next visit please call us and we would be more then happy to arrange all of the above. Mahalo and have a nice week! Carolyn Rose

We spent a wonderful, relaxing, quiet week here away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki. It never ceased to amaze us that we could wake up, put our slippers on, and walk out the gate and down to the beach in about a minute, watching the turquoise waves pounding as we got closer. And then all those long, long walks along the spectacular beach, passing occasional other walkers or fishermen - fabulous! The beach proximity is the BIG plus here, but it’s also a big plus that the cottages are well equipped with kitchen equipment, beach stuff, etc. It’s hot in Hawaii in July, so it was very welcome to have the option of running ceiling fans in both the bedroom and living room, or running the A/C. The TV was a it tricky, but we’re old school so someone else could have probably figured it out. Every cottage was booked, but it was still a very quiet place to stay. The friendly owner, Tommy, was often around and had a lot of good tips. There’s a coin-operated washer and dryer on site, and they leave a huge jug of laundry soap for guests to use. Another bug plus is that this is located within a 5 minute walk of some really good restaurants - Kalapawai Bakery & Cafe and Ono Steak & Shrimp. Kalapawai’s name might imply breakfasts only, but it’s open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the food is fabulous. Just around the corner is family-run Ono Steak & Shrimp and they close early at 5pm, so get there early! The garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp are SO ONO (Hawaiian for delicious).

My husband and I loved staying at the cottages! We loved the relaxed laid back atmosphere, just what we were looking for. Our cottage was perfect, very clean and will cared for. The beautiful sandy beach just steps away and the little town of Waimanalo is what Hawaii is all about. There are stores and great a restaurant up the street. Tommy is a great host and Carolyn is great to work with, she was very helpful and full of aloha. He and Carolyn are wonderful and we felt very well taken care of, We will be back! Linda and Larry

I stayed at cottage 3, a short walk to the beach thru a lane almost next to the property. Cooking, coffee maker, 24 hr 7/11 at the end of the street. The owner, Tommy, was very helpful as I faced a difficulty upon arrival. I come from Australia with a range of insects, spiders and reptiles and was pleased to encounter little more than tiny ants. Keep surfaces clean of food crumbs and you won't be bothered. I enjoyed staying at these laid back beach cottages.

We absolutely loved our stay in cottage number 10. This is not a fancy place but it certainly met our needs. We are close to the beach restaurants for walking distance. We really enjoyed the local food flavor. It was also close to a fun luau at See Life Park. Our kids loved it. We hiked Makapu’u lighthouse and Winter Hanauma Bay which are all close by. We can’t wait to come back. CAROLYN and Tommy were absolutely wonderful host!

Booked months in advance, double checked before arriving, only to find the cottage we had booked already occupied. While on the phone with owner husband, his wife called Booking.com to tell them they wouldn’t be honoring our booking. They then lied to us & claimed Booking.com had canceled our reservation. Learned they dumped us for a bigger booking. Since already late evening when this happened, spent one night in a different cottage. What a dump! Refrigerator had mold in it. Range was rusted. Veneer on bathroom door peeling. Furniture tired & worn. And then they wanted to charge us their regular $200 cleaning fee! We negotiated down to $100. Be warned
