This was absolutely awful. The room and hotel are outdated and not clean. I wouldn’t even take my shoes off in the room. Not to mention their COVID guidelines make no sense. You only get one two hour reservation for seats at the pool. You can only have one per day. Then they close every thing down (pool and beach) every two hours to clean (aka spray chemicals on the chairs - don’t even wipe them off). Terrible process and very unorganized. Each attendant (when you can actually find them) say different things. Never again will I stay here. You are on vacation...for the same price you can stay down the street at the Four Seasons and have much better service. They are currently closed or we would have stayed there. This Marriott is a solid two stars. Terrible! Stay away.
Our room was beautiful and clean. It was a great location and the highlight for me was the lagoons. We brought our own snorkel gear and went to Paradise Cove lagoon and snorkeled and saw tropical fish and tortoise, and Monk Seal was napping on the beach. So cool. Many of the extras were closed because of Covid, but still had a wonderful time. Loved the restaurants and location too. Would love to stay here again.
Simply the worst hotel in the world that is not prepared to Post COVID world. 1) You cannot go to the beach and pool until 9:30am, because all the chairs are locked. When we asked politely to allow us to use chair at 9am and then at 9:23am, we were advised to use towels on the ground (imagine this in 5 star hotel). When we sat on the cabana chair (not prepared) while waiting, we were asked to sit on the ground and threatened by Jordan in a rude and unprofessional way. We spoke to the manager Rachel for pool and beach who was also not accommodating 2) you can book beach or pool only for 2 hours per day and cabanas for $50 for 2 hours. In the line they take priority for walk-ins not guest of the hotel for cabanas over guests 3) when you check in to get you chair at 9:30am, you need to wait in line. COVID central here. You get chairs in one place and then asked to go get towels in another place near by pools. They offer water only for cabanas. In Ritz you get bottles of water everywhere as an example 4) really “no aloha” here, no welcome drinks, no smile, no water in the room 5) hotel is in general old, and requires some renovations Some positives: - Service and food at the restaurant for breakfast was good - pools with waterfalls are beautiful…
I have been bringing my family to Marriott Ko Olina every year for 10 years. The way I feel now, I will be moving to the four seasons. They used to be friendly and accommodating, not anymore. They don’t want you to stay here and they aren’t being subtle. They are over the top with the pool and beach COVID rules. We have all adapted to to the ‘new normal’ but they have ridiculous things in place and simply do not staff properly to support their silly new rules. I am all for safety and cleaning but the rules don’t make sense and I feel like they are trying to be extra difficult with a huge splash of rude. It states on their website you make a reservation for pool/beach chairs- normal- but you can only have them 2 hours a day and make one request per day and you can’t allow anyone to sit with you. I have 3 children here with me. What am I supposed to do with them? Beware before you book here. The staff does NOT want you to be here and they make you feel like it. Even with all the silly rules aside - it’s the rudeness for me. I’m out. If they didn’t want to be open they shouldn’t have. Go to the Disney resort next door. They all have smiles on their faces over there. Here everyone looks at the ground scared to make eye contact.…
2020 ~ It was quite a year for all of us. Although this trip was not planned, it was so necessary. I didn't realize even how much so until we were there. We made the decision to return to Hawaii in November and landed on 12/5. We stayed at the Marriott Ko Olina last fall and greatly enjoyed our stay. So, when the opportunity came up to return to HI, I didn't hesitate to choose Oahu again. In all honesty, I was a little apprehensive about traveling with the new testing guidelines. Perhaps, I was also a little apprehensive whether we would be welcomed with the same Aloha spirit from the past. My husband and I did not want our travel to be perceived as not caring for the local community or heighten frustration for anyone. My concerns were needless. The entire process of testing, using the Safe Travels portal, and check-in with rental car and resort were smooth and seamless. The professionalism and welcome of everyone was kind and genuine. Like at home, we are respectful and courteous. We abide with businesses' rules that are in place to remain open. We wear masks when in public and try to "read the room" for people that need even more space. Marriott Ko Olina has done an absolutely remarkable job in putting in place procedures and protocol for the safety of guests and employees alike. I applaud all the efforts. Sure ~ There might have been a little extra wait time upon checking in... not a problem. Expect that there will be minor delays this year! Yes ~ Reservations are needed at the pool.... not a problem. Simply look ahead and text/call your location for the next day! There was never a day/time that we were not able to enjoy the pool. Yep ~ The outdoor cafe, Longboards, serves all food in to-go containers instead of regular dining.... not a problem. The food is delicious, outdoor tables are still available, the view is fantastic, and Marriott is working double time to keep things open! The changes you will notice are not true inconveniences, especially when seen through the perspective of protocol to keep Marriott open, staff employed, and guests safe. Our week ended and it didn't feel like enough time!! After chatting a little bit about logistics, I rebooked us to continue the trip for another week. Pinch me!! We have never done that before and the last minute extension was exhilarating! My hubby worked remotely and we continued to explore the island. We brought all our own snorkel gear, so we mostly spent time our time outdoors swimming, diving, or walking through botanical gardens. All activities felt safe and were a feast for the eyes, ears, and heart. For our first week, we were in a one bedroom villa with an Oceanview on the 12th floor. Gorgeous in every single way - from amenities (living room, full kitchen, large bathroom), to comfort, to view of sunsets. The second week, we moved to a studio on the third level. It is designated as a mountain view, but looked into the parking garage. The difference in view should have been a disappointment... but it really wasn't. With just a few steps out the door, we we were still able to watch the sunset every night and enjoy all the same amenities of a stunning resort. The studio room itself was comfortable, being plenty spacious and having nice amenities that made the week enjoyable (microwave, fridge, rice cooker, coffee pot/kettle). Marriott Ko Olina ~ Thank you so much for a wonderful two weeks. Thank you for the efforts in re-opening. And, mostly, thank you for providing a location to take a deep breath in a lovely setting with friendly staff, and for giving us a safe place to land to enjoy time together. Mahalo.…
