We loved the location, just a block away from the beach. The unit was well stocked and very clean. The only drawback was the small air conditioner that took a while to cool off the unit. Regardless, we will be back.
The Garden Studio in Lanikai is perfect for couples! The studio is in the small and quiet ocean front “village” of Lanikai, and is very private and perfectly-decorated for a romantic getaway. No one walks past the cottage or can see past the lush tropical flowers and privacy fence, so you can leave the blinds and windows completely open to enjoy the tropical breeze, see the tropical plants, and hear the birds singing in the morning. The decorations are perfect for Hawaii: you feel like you’re living in a local’s cottage, with many shells, paintings, books, and photographs from around Lanikai which creates a very warm and personal environment. There’s even a small hula dancer statue on the kitchen table. We love lounging in the private yard under the garden umbrella. We enjoy Rick & Nina’s property so much that we stay here every time we visit Oahu! The amenities, especially beach chairs, beach towels, and beach umbrella make our days at the beach much more enjoyable, plus we don’t have to pack as much in our bag or buy beach gear for our visits. Rick and Nina are the perfect hosts: you have complete privacy, yet they are readily available by phone. There is a large book full of information about the property, places to eat, and things to do. This side of Oahu is gorgeous and quiet. When you sit on the beach, you have a picture-perfect view of the Mokulua islets (seabird sanctuaries), the turquoise water, palm trees, occasional sand crabs and kayakers. Best of all, you have an unobstructed view of the lushness of Oahu (without high-rise buildings). Honestly, this place is worth every penny we spend.…
Staying here feels like you're living like a local. I guess that's why you'd choose to stay in a licensed rental over a hotel. I like to mix it up but there is a lot to be said for living like you always live there. Well, pretending at least. Because there are no hotels in Lanikai, you really do get to experience just how chilled life could be if this was real life. If only! Our two-bedroom, one-bathroom accommodation was atop the home of our host and the cost at this peak time was about $US370 a night (including taxes) ... so not cheap but similar to beachside in Australia at peak times. There's also a one-bedroom garden studio on the property. We had an off-street parking spot (a serious win as street parking is limited) and it was just across the one-way street to the beach laneway. We loved the very "Hawaiian" decor, a mix of local and vintage art, cane furniture and woven bamboo ceilings - anywhere else it would feel kitsch but here it was decidedly cool. The sea breezes kept things cool and the wide eaves meant we could leave the window open, allowing us to fall asleep listening to the rain. The kitchenette was well appointed for basic cooking (microwave, plug-in hotplate, toaster, drip-coffee machine). The only thing we would have loved would have been on-site laundry facilities ... but who doesn't love really living like a local and experiencing a laundromat on holidays!?…
Our stay in the Lanikai Garden Studio was amazing. The studio was sparkling clean and included everything a traveler could need to feel at home. The proximity to the beach can't be beat. Rick and Nini are outstanding hosts!
Our stay with Lanikai Beach Rentals was amazing. The garden studio was exactly as described in the listing. Very clean and comfortable. Rick and Nini were so accommodating it made staying at their rental feel like home. I would strongly recommend staying with Lanikai Beach Rentals, they have exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to return!
We have previously stayed in and enjoyed the Lanikai Garden Studio (before the remodel) but it wasn’t available this year for our dates so we decided to splurge on the Treehouse. We have stayed in three other rentals in the area and the Treehouse was worth the money. An off-road parking spot is the first win; we learned this the hard way having had to search for spots on a rainy night and lug grocery bags back to a previous unit with no dedicated parking. The unit itself and the amenities are the second win. Lovely breezes, sunshine and birdsong are provided by all the windows. Full stocked kitchen and linen closets offer all you need to cook, stay clean and enjoy time at the beach. Beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, and other beach toys are all readily available in the unit. Welcome snacks, juice, coffee, a pineapple and a bottle of wine waited for us upon checkin. The owners, Rick & Nini are super hosts. They know all about the area, provide answers to all questions, check in on you via email and text and know how to make you feel at home without hovering or reciting rules. Last but of course foremost is the location. Great stores and restaurants are found in area but it’s ALL ABOUT THE BEACH! Even with shifting sands, Lanikai Beach, a short walk down the access lane is one of the most wonderful beaches on all the Hawaiian islands. And if you get bored there, just take a 5-10 minute walk down the road to the beach at the State Park. Plenty of beach for nice long walks, life guards and always lots of activities to engage in or just watch. Definitely on my list of recommendations for anybody visiting Oahu and on my wish list for a return stay !…
When thinking of a place to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversay the first place we both thought of going was to return to the Lanikai Garden Studio. We stayed here two weeks and we wished we could have stayed longer. It was our third time staying with the owners Rick and Nini. As always we really enjoyed our time here. They are both so friendly and accommondating. This is a one bedroom studio with all the extras that will make your stay rememberable. It even includes all of the items you need for the beach such as beach chairs, umbrella and coolers. Great location between the big city life of Honolulu and the lay back life of the North Shore. So rent a car so you can enjoy all Oahu has to offer. Lanikai Beach is a short walk across a one-way street and it is one of the nicest beaches on Oahu. What's not to like here in this little slice of paradise.…
This house is a treasure. Located at the foot of the most beautiful mango tree, it's beautifully decorated with warm colors and a few gorgeous Hawaiian details. As soon as we stepped in, we felt instantly at home. Everything was super clean and well kept. We went for our ten year wedding anniversary, and I found it perfect for the three of us. We have a one-year-old son who slept on the second bedroom (we didn't want to disrupt his sleeping routines during vacation). Rick and Nini were very accommodating and lent us a bunch of baby gear. They are really good people, very flexible, warm and welcoming. The location is perfect. The ocean is across the street, and the main beach is only three minute walk away. The neighborhood is quiet and perfect for a relaxing vacation. I can't wait to go back. …
We stayed in the Lanikai Treehouse for our first family vacation with our 5-month-old daughter, and it was the perfect place for us! We were so fortunate to be able to book this ideal rental. Rick and Nini are such warm and thoughtful hosts. They took great care of us from the time of booking, all the way through checkout, with their kindness and useful recommendations. (We had wonderful meals from Times Supermarket several times during the week!) They welcomed our daughter--despite her crying!--and even offered us a play yard and a high chair, which allowed us to travel with only carry-ons. The Treehouse itself is a dream accommodation right by the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. As soon as we stepped into the bright and airy rental with its well-appointed amenities and island-inspired decor, we felt so relaxed and at home. Rick and Nini really thought of everything we could possibly need, from the well-stocked kitchenette to beach gear--including great beach reads! Most of all, we loved the breeze flowing through the large open windows, the sound of night rain, being surrounded by mango and plumeria trees, and waking up to the song of birds. We've been telling friends and family about this gem. Thank you, Rick and Nini, for a heavenly stay!…
My stay at the Lanikai Garden Studio was wonderful. It was very private so I could have the glass doors open and hear the birds and the breeze. I felt like I was in my own private garden. I am usually one that brings my Clorox wipes and wipes everything down, but it was so clean that I felt comfortable right away. I am also not a fan of bugs and did not see a single one, so I was thrilled!! Everything I needed was there - beach towels and umbrellas and I was set. There was coffee, fruit and some cookies when I got there, so I had some snacks before I could get to the grocery store. I was in town to spread my Mother’s ashes and have a small memorial on the beach. Nini and Rick gave me a suggestion for the minister and she was wonderful. They know Kailua so well which was very helpful since I have been gone for so long. Thank you Nini and Rick for everything! I’ll be back with my husband in a few years and look forward to staying here again!…
