My Stay at the Banana Bungalow Maui was a blast and worth it. The tours are excellent, especially the Little Beach excursion.  But the people working there are kind and helpful and a blast to hang with. My favorite was the lush greenery around the property because Wailuku is on a wetter side of the island. Yea its 22... More

The Banana Bungalow Hostel 'may' look a bit rough around the edges and the kitchen could be better equipped BUT the staff are absoluterly fantastic and could not have done more to make my stay of 3 nights - which I extended to 8 nights cos it was so much fun there - such a great place to be. I stayed there for 10 days. I met a ton of awesome people. The tours were tons of fun. The facilities had a chill sociable atmosphere. The road to Hana was my favorite with swimming through lava tubes, a bamboo forest, cliff jumping, a hawaiian barbecue, and a 300 foot waterfall. Little beach is a great party for the open... More

We stayed a total of 7 nights at the hostel . Average inexpensive accommodations sharing bathrooms, kitchen, and fridges. But the staff was INCREDIBLE. They offered rides to local hot spots on Halloween, had excellent tour van drivers with great knowledge of people and places on Maui and friendly work trade staff on their own adventure. This is my first... More

We were at the Banana Bungalow for a week and had a great time. They do free tours every day which were awesome. Seriously cool people, fun and relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

I've stayed in youth hostels many times during my life. This is the worst place I've stayed. Not because of the occasional bug, randy fellow patrons giving each other the goods in public, or general lack of cleanliness standards you'd expect in mid level to higher end accommodations. I expect marginal conditions in a youth hostel. Its life. Its part... More

Customer Care ALL the WAY! I knew I was going to have a great time as soon as I was so kindly picked from the airport, free of charge. Amazing group of people staying in the hostel, not some dorm room frat party- Banana Bungalow makes the environment OPEN and FREE with a HUGE communal kitchen and the UNREAL tours... More

This hostel gives amazing free tours, and that is the (only) reason I would recommend it. The hostel itself was quite dirty, many of the bathroom facilities were out of order, my room mates liked to come in and talk at full volume at 1am, there were no drapes on the windows, etc etc. There are also lots of residents... The hostel is less than typically what is to be expected from a hostel. Not the cleanest rooms, bathrooms, or kitchen. But the bugs in the kitchen were especially disgusting. The clean plates and silverware had bugs crawling on them and the neighborhood cats like to walk around on the counter tops. Several rooms in the hostel were infested with... More

Stayed at Banana Bungalow for 8 days at the beginning of August. The location is good, just down the street from a Maui Bus stop, especially helpful for those without cars. One morning we left the hostel and saw a full rainbow over the nearby Iao Valley, which provides an ever-changing backdrop of colorful cloud formations over the green mountains.... More
