It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful historic home built in 1924 which once housed a family with 13 children. The current owner Cherie, has painstakingly restored and cared for the house and the landscaping. Cherie is such a gracious hostess and made my wife and family feel very welcome. It was like a home away from home.

We stayed at the Hale Ho'okipa Inn for two. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The house and room were nice, and the location is a good home base for exploring central/western Maui. It is very close to the airport and a reasonable distance to the national park and road to Hana. You will be within ten mins walk to... More

Aloha, It was nice to meet you folks. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and wanted to respond to the couple of points you made. By the conditions of our permits, we are not allowed to cook nor bake for guests without a commercial kitchen. That is why I provide yogurt and cereals and nut butters and cream cheese and... More

I have stayed at this beautifully peaceful B&B several times and would highly recommend. The owner, Cherie, is very welcoming, friendly and extremely knowledgable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are healthy, organic and some of the fruit is homegrown. I particularly enjoyed papaya, mango, strawberry and other exotic fruit for breakfast. The property is full of character and... Had a really great time in Makawao and the Hale Ho'okipa Inn! Cherie's hospitality was most gracious and the location was just perfect for my cycling vacation in Maui. For the destinations I was interested in, Makawao was perfect. Paia, Haleakala, West Maui Loop were all just out the front door. A great breakfast with local fruit and other travelers... More

My wife and I arrived in Makawao without a reservation and were extremely lucky to have come upon the fully-booked, Hale Ho'okipa Inn, just as they had had a cancellation. We really enjoyed staying here for two nights. Cherie, the owner, is fun to talk with and provides a great breakfast selection and suggestions of where to go and what... More

This historic home makes a great central place to stay while exploring Maui. It is quiet and centrally located. The town has great dining options, the Rodeo Store for supplies before heading off on adventures, and the great Komoda bakery. More great eats are found in nearby Paia. The 1928 vintage home is lovely, charmingly decorated, and a warm comfy... More

I love this place! It's perfectly situated, at the end of a quiet street far from any traffic noises. A Craftsman home, it's loaded with charm and has a homey feel as soon as you enter. The garden is lovely, too. My room was comfortable and cutely decorated. A great deal for the price. Breakfasts include an array of tropical... More

Cherie and her other guests were by far the highlight of our stay at Hale Ho'okipa. I wish we had booked sooner so we could have stayed there our whole time in Maui rather than just 4 nights! Cherie is an incredible human being who has poured her heart and soul into her B&B, and it shows. The historical plantation... More

We had booked here for a few days as we hadn't been able to get into our VRBO for our whole stay. We loved everything about Hale Ho'okipa Inn, and had wished we'd stayed there the whole time! I loved poking about the house and gardens, each foray bringing some new delight, from ponds and shady corners, to a wonderful... More

Love this Place!! This is my 4th stay with Cherie; been coming here once a year in December to enjoy the 'magic' of Maui. Cherie is a welcoming host and very knowledgeable about the island who can recommend amazing places to visit; many of them treasures that only folks who live here know about. The B&B is in an old...
