Great location. The staff was great, the beach was lovely, pools sparkling clean and refreshing....everything in our cottage was great. Would stay here again. Really loved it! The large fridge in the kitchen was helpful for our family of 5.
Went to check in only to find out our Oceanview room was only partial Oceanview. If I wanted full Oceanview then we would have to upgrade at $80 a night to "ocean front"! Supposedly the$80 was half off the regular price. So I said that you offer partial Oceanview, Oceanview (which is really only partial Oceanview) and oceanfront? I told the woman checking us in that was a crappy marketing scam. Checked in... found the room very dated.. nightstands were scratched and old, had old Mollie bolts stuck in the wall...not what you expect from a $500 a night room. They lost our dinner reservation for that same night.. told us the earliest slot they had was 8:45...ugh. The food was good, grounds were nice, staff was nice but when you pay what we did a night you would expect more. Did a review through Expedia after check-in and the hotel management offered nothing to make it right other than apologies for the lost dinner reservation and defended their poor marketing scheme on the rooms Won't ever be going back or recommending this hotel to anyone I like!…
I went to go research this property and WOW the pictures on the internet do it no justice. This place is not only beautiful but everything about it from the hotel staff to the atmosphere was phenomenal. Thank You June Pagadillo and all the ladies at the front desk, Rey (valet staff ALL) and housekeeping great job will be back. The restaurant downstairs had great food and drinks as well. The view of the beach from our Tower balcony was priceless and Myths of Maui luau was also a must do. Kaanapali Royal Golf course was breath taking. Again, Thank you very much ALL!
We had an ocean front cottage. We come here every year and it never disappoints. Awesome beach, less people than in front of the bigger hotels, its only a short swim or walk to black rock which is some of the best snorkeling on the west side. The staff is awesome. Food is great. their restaurant is one of the hidden gems in the area. they have recently remodeled it and updated the menu. The grounds are beautiful. it is only a 10 minute walk to whaler village shopping area, and a beautiful walk at that.
The Royal Lahaina is every bit as charming as when we stayed there on our honeymoon 40 years ago. The grounds are very spacious and the beach uncrowded (unlike most of the big box hotels on Kaanapali Beach) and the sunset views are stunning. There are no fancy pools with big slides, so if that's the kind of thing you're looking for, this place is not for you. I would give it an enthusiastic 5 rating, but for two issues. First of all, our room was dated and badly in need of renovation, which the hotel is in the process of doing throughout the resort. If room appearance is important to you and you stay before the renovations are complete, I would suggest that you book one of the DELUXE Rooms or Cottages, which have already been renovated. Our second issue related to the request for feather-free bedding (due to severe allergies) that we made at the time of our reservation and emphasized in a subsequent phone call. After a very long day of travel, we were preparing to go to bed when we discovered that our pillows were feather- filled. My husband called down to the front desk several times and finally had to get dressed and go down to request that they be changed out. The manager did kindly offer us a resort credit when made aware of the situation the following day. The Royal Lahaina is a throwback, traditional Hawaiian hotel with loads of charm. It is a great value, especially since, unlike nearly all Maui hotels, there is no resort fee and self-parking is only $15. We will likely return and would definitely recommend it, especially once renovations are complete.…
