Hotel's Favorite
A great location! The backyard is beauuitiful with pools and golf and being located right on the waters edge (no sand just rock below the rock shelf/ledge - cant snorkel here). AMAZING view for sunsets every day. The pool is great, surround by 6 BBQs and tables. Lounge chairs, a covered sitting area as well. My favorite part was the accessibility to stores nearby - a grocery store right across the street (Times) with average prices for things. Coffee shop beside it (Java Jazz), other food places to eat in that area - the best for sure is Slappy Cakes breakfast. On the weekends they even have a pancake artist in the waiting area, who has her own griddle and different pancake colors to make disney characters that are SO real looking. Also very close by are amazing beaches. You can walk all along the boardwalk, south of this resort. Behind all the other hotels is a beautiful walk path between the hotels and the beaches. You can go on as far as youd like, but theres so many options along the way of places to see, eat, beach, adventure. The opposite direction, if you go north of the resort, theres a great farmers market beside Bad Ass coffee (great!) which has amazing things to try as well. Definitely recommend. I could go on an on. But 8/10 would recommend this resort. 2 points knocked off becayse the dryer machine didnt work well, and the fridge/freezer wasnt as cold as we wanted, and theres a bit of a bug problem in the area, but I think everyone has to deal with that. Otherwise, the house was stacked with boogie boards, sports equipment, beach towels, etc etc for lots of things to use at the beach.

After reading several less than favourable reviews and despite repeated efforts to request a room in good repair from the General Manager, we were assigned a studio unit that is outdated in many aspects, has the presence of mold in the bathroom, and requires a significant refurbishment (see bathroom and closet door tracking photos). The unit we were assigned is E104. The pool view is nice and the grounds are well kept and clean but our room is disappointing. You would think that Aston would require the owners to maintain their units to a certain standard so that the Aston brand is well represented, but it doesn’t appear to be so. It seems that the owner of E104 doesn’t really care. The toilet and bathroom sink appear to be newer but the appliances and furniture are quite basic. The tub/shower combo is about half the size of a normal one. We had a peek at E103 while it was being cleaned and it’s the polar opposite of this one. Unlike some condos in the area, there’s no housekeeping service unless you request and pay extra for it. Maui is a beautiful place. We hope to return one day but unfortunately we will not be staying at this resort again.

Please accepy my personal apologies for our failure in your case. Again, we thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Going to sleep every night with the waves crashing on the shore was amazing! We had unit L302 (VRBO). Not all units are VRBO or private. Some are owned by ASTON and have more of a hotel service to them. So when you're booking to stay here, be sure to read what is included in your unit you're booking. If your room does not use the key card, you probably won't be issued one, but be sure to ask so you can access the gates to get out behind the ABC store or the parking driveway on the far end. Clean property. Plenty of gas grills around the pools. two putting greens (just go to front desk for putter and balls)... Salt water pools so NO smelling like a chlorine factory. There really is NOT a beach at this property. Very small but a small walk down low tide along the wall and you're at a beach park which is great for snorkeling.

This was the absolute worst place to stay at! We had a wedding party, so most of us stayed in the same resort (if you can even call it that). It took hours to get towels or toilet paper when we ran out, and even with going down to the office to grab some, we were just sent back to our room to wait for it. We rented a “3 bedroom”, but really it was 2 bedrooms with a little loft upstairs with 2 twin beds next to each other. The air conditioner hardly worked, so we were constantly sweating any time we had to be in our room. Someone hit a power box the day before the wedding so we had no power for close to 24 hours, while most resorts In the area had generators, we did not. Staff did not care nor was willing to work with us on any of that. However, they were still quick to kick everyone out at the pool at 10:00 pm on the dot to go sit in the dark in our rooms. While we understood “some” work was being done around the resort, it made parking an absolute nightmare with them closing off most of the parking spots each day. Overall, we were extremely disappointed in our stay, and will not be returning.

Aloha, I appreciate you taking the time to share your review of your recent stay. I was so sorry to read that we failed to meet your expectations in several areas. It is our goal to consistently provide the highest quality in both prodict and service, and it is vital to our continued success to know when we have fallen short of our own standards. Let me simply say that all of us here at the Papakea Resort are committed to providing a much better and more pleasant experience for our guests that what you had the misfortune of experiencing. Again we thank you for taking the time to share. I sincerely hope that you will allow us another opportunity to demonstrate our true level of hospitality and interest in serving you properly.

Last time we were here we stayed at another Aston property a little ways down from here. We really enjoyed this one much more it had so much more to it. The accomodations were like a home. The folks that were living there or this was there second home couldn't have been any nicer same with the staff. Also like that there was a shopping center with a grocery store and eateries across the street. Walking distance to many places to eat and a short drive to Lahania. Love Love Love the cats and their care.
