#21 of 32 hotels in Lahaina
This may be Kaanapali's finest beachfront setting. Resting amid 11 acres of exotic tropical gardens in the heart of the Kaanapali Resort area, the resort has an on-site water activity center, two newly-renovated pool areas and a free shuttle to Kaanapali Resort area shopping and activities. The poolside cafe features island cuisine accompanied by an expansive wine list.

Not sure if this complex was any better in its heyday, but our assigned room in the very back of the "resort" by the highway was dirty and very tired. Complimentary morning coffee was not available as billed. You get this communication admonishing you that you are a guest in someone's home as if you are lucky to be staying there. And this at a *crazy* cost. We left after 2 days and found Maui Kai at almost half the cost, to which we give 5 stars.

Ok so we did a quick weekend stay in Maui Left AZ on friday at 3:59 got to Maui at 7:30 which was earlier than expected awesome! We got a shuttle from OGG airport to MPV ( Our Resort ) it was about a 40 minute ride yes I timed it and was not long at all. The resort was well maintained centrally located and i was very happy with what i saw when we arrived now keep in mind i kept all the negative reviews in my mind to see if any of that would pop up and it did not once Joe who helped me extend late check out was awesome it seems like he been their awhile cause as i was reviewing for late check out everyone knew him and were all pretty cool the staff was very friendly pool was well maintained the beach walk was not far at all we had room 109 which was an upgrade because they saw i had my wife and two kids originally booked a studio garden man was it dope 2 bedroom full kitchen 3 bathrooms huge master suite balcony we were right near the lobby so our view was the main parking lot but it was not loud at all and no issues during our stay clearly the dolphin and emerald towers are where you want to be because those are amazing beach views but i was happy where i was castaway cafe was awesome fast service great drinks cool bartenders waiters and waitresses were super efficient and the whole vibe was all around fantastic only downside we found a centipede in our room and for only finding that in the room I can't complain it could have been worse but we noticed uber is nonexistent pretty much taxis were pretty prompt and most shuttles if your not present will leave you which is expected and rental cars because of covid are like $500+ a day or over $2K per week NOPE other than that this is a really good affordable way to enjoy with you partner family or a chill group of family and friends mix

After a very long flight, waiting for over an hour for a rental car and the hour drive here, we were told at 2:45 pm that our room wasn't ready and the staff "wasn't sure when it would be ready" I asked again for any clarifications on timing and was told sternly that "we don't guarantee check in until 4“. I understand this policy, but the manner in which this was communicated was heinous especially given the fact that this person works in the hospitality industry. Additionally, it's a great practice to at least apologize or try to find a room that is ready. We won't be coming back, and I look forward to sharing my story with every review site possible. It's unfortunate to see that a hotel in these times is willing to have such a poor service and inflexibility.

Aloha Ms. Ghosh, Again, sorry your expectations where not met. Understand you were already upset about waiting 1.5 hours with the car rental company after a long flight and a drive before arriving prior to the resort's scheduled check in time. Room categories and quality ratings are very specific making it difficult to have villas at the ready. Again, sorry the villa wasn't ready prior to the guaranteed 4pm check in time. The agent who checked you in has been coached on approach and how to better empathize to the state of mind of arriving guests to avoid such instances in the future. Mahalo,

I had reserved a premium, 1 bedroom, ocean view villa. When I arrived I was told I had been given an “upgrade by the manager” to a 2 bedroom villa. I asked if it was ocean view, and was informed it was a ground level room with no ocean view. I informed the front desk this was not acceptable and I would be fine with my originally booked room type. After a lot of discussion, calls to the reservation manager, I was informed that there were no 1 bedroom, ocean view, premium rooms available. They said there might be rooms the next day or two days later if I wanted to consider moving rooms after 1-2 days. The front desk staff seemed very put out when we expressed my frustration about not getting the room I had reserved. Once checking into the “upgraded” room, I found it to be disgusting. The floors were not clean. The carpets/rugs were gray and dirty, the bathrooms were dingy. The dishwasher and oven door collide with each other so you cannot fully open the dishwasher to load it. The bedding left for the pullout bed was dirty with several long hairs on the blanket. The chairs in the kitchen had stains all over the cushions. The kitchen counters were not clean. Honestly it was the dirtiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. If I had the option to pack up and leave, I would have. I spoke to the manager the next day and he apologized for the inconveniences. We were given a complementary cleaning 3 days after we arrived. The grounds were very nice, beach access was good and the pool was nice. Upon checkout the manager also gave us a slight discount, but really not enough to make any of the situation we endured worth it. I cannot recommend your property to anyone. It is the only thing that wasn’t great about our vacation. This room really it a damper on the whole experience. I hoped for better.
