Be aware of these people, Tammy in particular (very rude), web page had a price and offered discount because of major construction and when i went to book they would not honor the price and it was clearly on web site. Beware, if they will do this on booking they will do this on all aspects or charges of stay, such as trying to claim missing items or towels in unit and charge you for them or saying you damaged something when you didnt and try to charge you for it. Just beware of the shady business practices, Plenty of other places, shop around
While this was not our first stay at Makani Sands, it was our first stay in Unit 104 and we felt right at home instantly. The Condo has a comfortable feel about it, was super clean, and contains everything for a perfect vacation. There is a full range of appliances and the kitchen is well stocked with spices and other condiments that make cooking meals easy and delicious. The outdoor barbecues were put to good use nightly as well. Days were spent relaxing on the chaise lounges or snorkelling right in front of the complex with turtles, tropical fish, and even eels. Even though we travelled around the entire island, Honokawai has a great variety of stores, shops, restaurants and food trucks, and both Lahaina and Whaler’s Village are a short drive away. Tammy at the front desk went above and beyond to juggle the dates for our stay as we navigated cancelled and changed flights. She was as genuinely happy for our successful arrival as we were. Our stay confirmed just how much we missed Maui and especially Makani Sands, and we have already started to plan our next trip!…
Property manager was helpful and responsive scheduling our trip, and providing information for check in and check out processes. The condo is ideally situated, just north of Lahaina, and very close to the West Maui airport. From the back of the unit, you overlook the ocean. A reef blocks any significant wave from disrupting swimming or snorkeling time, so every age person could enjoy the ocean and the regular turtle traffic pattern. From the front of the unit, you overlook the pool. Tradewinds keep the unit comfortable, which we enjoyed. There is no air conditioner, so the only critique would involve outside noise of other tenants in the evening as windows needed to stay open for circulation. Still, excellent for our two unit rental and large family needs. We would stay again.…
We visited several beaches and the best snorkeling we found was in our backyard! I saw turtles every day, many fish, an octopus, and a family of eels that live in the rocks near the entrance! (They are secluded and aren't in an area you will frequent). Not much of a beach when we visited but I understand the beachfront fluctuates with the season.
We stayed for 8 nights in unit 310. It’s a 3 bedroom 3.5 Bath. Five of us and we had plenty of room. The management team are Awesome! Clean grounds, pool etc. The unit needs a little tlc and some new furniture. The owner also has the AC on a six hour timer which is not very convenient when you have to get up during the night to turn it back on. Owner should definitely change that as well. I still give them 5 stars as We will definitely stay again when we return to Maui.
We, like many others, also love Makani Sands! Our party of 5 adults stayed in a 3 br, 2.5 ba two level unit on the third floor. What a view! From the lanai, we’d count 25-30 turtles cruising by all day long! Immaculately clean, wonderful and friendly staff, and any owners who are staying there at the time are a real hoot! Join them on the lanai at sunset with your bottle of wine to blow the conch shells! What aloha spirit. Ocean is steps away, Great beach. VERY safe and reef-protected, great for kids. Swim and snorkel with turtles! Convenient to stores, yet very quiet, peaceful. Small complex, insulated from the hustle and bustle of Maui. Try the natural food store across the street for best guacamole in town - half price at happy hour! We are going back in November. I could live here!…
We stayed at Makani Sands In March 2019 in Unit 210 and would recommend this place to stay. You cant get much closer to the sea, watching the whales,Turtles and the Ocean was just brilliant. You are short walk to eateries and shops, with a wood fire pizza just up the road is to die for.But be quick as he sells out real quick. The staff are outstanding and help out with anything you need.We had 6 adults in the apartment and had plenty of room. We will be back one day.
3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, ocean view. We had at least 1 rainbow every single day. Management folks very friendly, full timers also. Unit itself quite dated and needs some maintenance, not elderly friendly as there are stairs with poor hand rails, low height bed and toilets. Not too far from Safeway, restaurants and beaches.
Makani Sands unit 305 2 story 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo on the beach in West Maui. Spacious, walking distance to shop, restaurants, bars. Snorkel , swim, sunbathe right out front . Condo has everything you could possibly need.
We love Maui, and we love Makani Sands! This was our second stay here and it was wonderful. We prefer staying in condos to hotels, so this property is perfect for us. This time we brought our 11-year-old grandson with us and he fell in love with it, too. We stayed in #202, on the second floor. The unit had everything we needed and more. The trade winds were lovely the entire week so we did not miss having A/C. The views are spectacular and it is incredible having honu (turtles) swimming in front of you all day long. There was some beach erosion compared to last summer, but we were still able to get in the water and enjoyed it thoroughly. Our grandson also had a blast in the pool. We will return to Makani Sands, again and again.
