A beautiful hotel set back from Kaanapali Beach for the Maui section of our honeymoon. Although we were in one of the ‘smallest’ condo types at Honua Kai, we really loved our 1 bed studio apartment. It was spotlessly clean (although no cleaning is offered whilst you’re there). It was great to have a washer and dryer and the bathroom was huge. The kitchen had a large fridge/freezer and was perfectly appointed. We had a very comfortable queen-sized bed and a lovely part-ocean view from the balcony. Parking (self) was plentiful and included in the resort fee. It was great to have an outdoor and basement option for parking. We went to a food truck park on our first night here, which was just a stone’s throw away, which we loved. There were a couple of downsides, though. Firstly, the wi-fi wasn’t working at all in our building for 2 of the 3 days that we were here. Coming from the UK, this was an issue as I had no mobile phone data, so I either had to go down to reception to use the internet or link to my wife’s phone, as she had a pre-paid sim. I guess for most other guests this wasn’t as much of a problem. I called reception on the first day to get this sorted- within an hour, a technician was able to change the router in the room to a new model, but this only worked for about 10 minutes before the whole of the block was without internet going into the weekend. Secondly, the hotel takes a non-refundable deposit to cover them from ‘customer damage’. This is just a money-making scheme, as we left the apartment almost as clean as when we arrived. Finally, the shop in the main hotel part was crazily, but unsurprisingly, expensive. So we opted to go to the supermarket across the road, which was handy. We didn’t get any recognition for being on a honeymoon, which was slightly disappointing, but we didn’t expect anything all the same. WOW! I usually stay at the Hyatt Regency, but we had a chance to rent a Condo. The prices were great, the rooms were very special and you had choices of several pools, a water slide, 24 hour gym, great free parking or Valet. On the grounds is also Duke's restaurant and bar (make reservations),. Get off the elevator and right there is a mini-mart and they make several items also. There is also a great BBQ area. This is a real winner. Everyone that works there is so very nice and helpful.

Got a panicked call from daughter on honeymoon. Despite having a confirmation this resort canceled their reservation and never notified them. Then resort did NOTHING to help them. The lack of compassion was terrible. Be very cautious because apparently there is very little recourse either.

Had the greatest experience with my family of 6! The whole facility was drop dead gorgeous and well-kept from the resort pool/Duke’s setup to the spacious and spotless 3 bedroom ocean view suite itself, not to mention the view of Lana’i and Moloka’i is absolutely breathtaking! The rooms are somehow both impressively clean and homey feeling. The whole staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating to my elderly family members who needed assistance getting around the whole facility and I can’t thank them enough! My younger family members had the greatest time in all the pools and lazy river, and the beach access is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the islands and the Pacific. Duke’s also has hands down amazing food and it’s so nice to have such a high-quality restaurant right outside your door! I’m so thankful my family decided to stay here, we all wouldn’t have rather stayed anywhere else!…

I recently returned from my stay at Maui Honua Kai Resort, and I must say it was an extremely disappointing experience in terms of customer service and cleanliness. The front desk staff were consistently rude and unaccommodating. Despite requesting a 7AM call for pre-check-in assistance due to our early flight from Ohau, they failed to have our room cleaned before 3:50PM, even though the official check-in time is 4PM. As a result, my family and I had to endure several hours of exhaustion while waiting in the lobby. Both Jenny and Lile from the front desk were particularly impolite, stating that they would only call us when the room was ready. It's astonishing that such a large resort couldn't prioritize the timely cleaning of rooms, especially considering they don't clean rooms for extended stays within a week. We paid a high price for our stay, and it seemed like every effort was made to ruin the vacation we were celebrating for a special occasion. We stayed in 11a at the Luana garden villas (bottom level) and it was awesome. They were able to accommodate an early check in so we were super grateful. The villa was immaculate when we checked in. The beds were very comfortable, they had extra blankets as well. KLVR (owners) was available by phone whenever we needed to ask them a questIon. We were traveling with two young kids and the bottom level unit was perfect for us. Honua Kai has a few pools and the main attraction for kids is their water slide. I definitely recommend this place and will stay here again next time we come to Maui.

We stayed here for 3 nights near the beginning of our honeymoon in Hawaii, before heading to Kauai and Oahu. We booked a partial ocean view one bed studio which was clean and perfect for us. We were able to check in earlier than expected which was great and the view from the room was lovely, bed was comfortable and plenty of storage. Unfortunately we only had Wi-Fi available for half a day out of our total 72 hour stay, which we were advised affected the whole block, as we are from the UK the cost for data in the US is very costly, thankfully we managed to get one prepaid US sim prior to our trip, but that signal wasn’t as great either. Wi-Fi is included in the resort fee we paid and I see from another review that others have been offered a credit for this, so I will be contacting the resort to advise on this.…

.Room was musty smelling on arrival- got better. No Wi-Fi during stay with poor cell service, had to leave property to look things up:( supposed to get a credit but have yet to see it. Overall property nice, not terribly noisy on our floor. Room was nice. Beds not so comfortable, pillows flat.

We've had such a great time! We loved the pools and amenities and of course we loved Duke's as well. We made wonderful lifetime memories here. The beach is amazing here. a few rocky places but it's great for snorkeling. Mahalo and Aloha, until next time!

We Love to stay at this Resort!!! It is laid back Ka'anapali that has the perfect combination of a great location, up to date condos with full kitchens, an absolutely wonderful staff, complete with an on-resort Duke's Maui Restaurant. Seriously, what more can you ask for? Managed by Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, which is a top-notch company. We decided that we would try a resort, up country view for this stay, and found it was relaxing with a beautiful view. Brett Ballinger, General Manager, has an efficient Front Desk Manager, Adriana Hussey, along with Emeline Lile Puteni, Front Desk Supervisor. We had some minor TV issues, and the engineering staff, Stanley and Guillermo were there right away to swap out our remote to make it work. Great Valet Staff - Kai and JD became Friends!
