I spent so much time searching the reviews before my trip, I thought I should write something now that we are back. I highly recommend this resort. For a family of four (two teens), the format worked out perfectly. We liked having the space and cooking/laundry facilities of a two-bedroom condo, but be in a resort atmosphere with food and pools. We spend every morning drinking coffee on the lanai watching the ocean, many evenings having a drink by the ocean. Perfect. My husband was in the middle of Ironman training, and he had plenty of biking, running, and swimming routes. The condo itself was gorgeous, comfortable, and clean. Yes, occasionally there was a funky smell from the treatment facility, but it was not strong nor did it prevent us from enjoying the resort. I should also say that check in and check out were super-easy, especially considering our flight was delayed by 10 hours. I also recommend the location. The beach walk was great for a morning run or a short walk down to a swimmable beach. The outrigger canoe rental was a short walk, snorkeling and hiking a short drive. The west side had plenty of restaurants that were only a few minutes away, and it was pretty easy to get to the rest of the island. We went down to the south side of Maui for a day when the surf was high on the west side, and found the beaches to be much, much more crowded. In short, I would return in a heartbeat. We had one of the best vacations ever, totally relaxing.

Rented 707 through VRBO and it was a fantastic decision. This 2 br, 2 bath has all the amenities you could want, including washer/dryer and AC. Quiet 7th floor since there’s no one above you. Honua Kai is a great facility, with pools for the kids, a water slide (at the pool in the adjacent tower), food and drink service through Duke’s, BBQ grills and an outstanding valet staff. Their is a small store on site which is good for morning coffee. By the way, Duke’s is a super restaurant that has breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner. It’s a great place to eat. HK has a small, useable beach but probably not best for kids but great for sunset viewing. We did see people snorkeling about 60 yards offshore. If you want a better beach go a half mile south to Airport Beach (parking plus bathroom facilities). As others have said, don’t get the Mountain View unless you really don’t care about looking at the ocean every day. 707 has an ocean view and we saw a whale go full breach, in May no less! HK offers cabanas but reserve early since the go fast. There are chaise lounge chairs around the pool. They don’t allow you to hold the chairs so get them early during the busy season. By the way, all pictures taken are from the HK property and the rainbow photo is the Mountain View. We will definitely return!

This resort is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed. We stayed on the 5th floor, room 524, brand new carpet, very nice kitchen, washer & dryer, ice cold AC, balcony with a large table area, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Just overall great room. Not ocean view but still nice mountain views. Pools on site are small but they work, considering the hotel is a couple hundred feet from the ocean. Nice walking paths out to a nice sandy beach! Also Dukes (the restaurant on site) was fabulous. We ate there 3 times in 5 days, great service! Watching the sun rise or set on the beach, or from Dukes patio, there just isn't much better than that! The only negative I could find is that the valet for the hotel was not always friendly and the front desk could have been friendlier as well :(

Stayed here with my family in July. They said they clean the rooms on the second day, We were at the beach all day, got back to the room around 3:45, and had no towels to take a shower with, had to go to pool for towels, house keeping had not shown up, I called front desk and they could not give an answer why that hadn’t cleaned the room, I was not happy. Elevators were dirty. I like the feeling of staying at hotels as compared to staying at places like this, it is more of a condo/timeshare building which gives me a completely different feeling on vacation. Will not stay here again.

This was our first time in Maui and our first time at this resort. We rented via KBM and it was an amazing unit in the Holukalani Tower with an ocean view on the 7th floor. There was construction on the opp side of the property of new Garden Villas but we barely heard anything and was not a distraction. There were some intermittent sewer odors but thats about it. Our 2BR unit was very well appointed and spectacular. The living room was large with the balcony door/window that opens completely! The kitchen was fully stocked. Unit also had a W/D that came in super handy! KBM also provides a beach package of chairs, floaties and boogie boards which was really nice! We loved the main pool at the resort. The beach was nice to but a little hard to swim too much with the reef rocks. The valet or self parking is free too! I would recommend KBM as the property mgmt company to rent from...It comes across a little impersonal after you book but they really did take care of every detail including switching out beds in one of the rooms. The check in was super easy. just show ID to the bellman and get your keys, done. I would definitely return on a future visit or at least KBM again for a rental.
