The worst experience I have EVER had at any stay in my entire life. GOT OUR VALUEABLES STOLLEN FROM OUR ROOM WHILE WE WERE GONE FROM STAFF. Staff is incredibly RUDE and dismissive. Kicks you out of jacuzzi and pool and watches your every move so uncomfortable NOT RELAXING at all. GOT items STOLLEN from room, OBVIOUSLY the entire security staff does this often because they made no effort to find it and even covered up for the thief when we had evidence they BROKE into our room while we were away. front desk is AWFUL and dismissive and RUDE. NEVER COME HERE, I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. Might look nice but the staff and their attitude will RUIN you’re entire stay. NOT WORTH THE MONEY. They use Covid as an excuse to be lazy and close everything early even though the signs and online says otherwise. They make up rules as they go and made the stay miserable. We called to try to fix things and only got more attitude in response. STAY AWAY from this awful place. Would give 0 stars if I could. Over crowded even during covid. So unsafe.…
This unit, Konea 104, was perfect for our family of 5 with three teenagers. We got an extra roll away so each of our kids could have their own bed but the pull-out couch was a great additional option. The place is perfect - clean, modern, beds are comfortable, it was perfect for our week long getaway. Being on ground level with a 2 second walk to the pools and the beach out front. There are 4 beach chairs, an umbrella and boogie boards for the unit. We stayed right next to family in Konea 106. The location had easy walking distance to a luau, Black Rock for cliff jumping and Duke's is right out front for easy cocktails, dining and take-out. Few minute drive to LaHaina, Kapalua, Honolua Bay and multiple awesome beaches. We would DEFINITELY stay here again and are recommending this to our friends.…
We booked at the beginning of the pandemic so our family, my sister's family, and my mom could spend Christmas in Maui. Little did we know then what we "know" now. I kept saying it would be a Christmas Miracle if we actually got to go. All 9 of us tested negative, jumped through whatever hoops we needed to to get to Maui, and we had the most amazing stay. Thank you Honua Kai for the hospitality of your staff, making sure people wore their masks by giving them a gentle reminder, for the cleanliness of all your rooms and grounds. We had an amazing time. We booked through Costco again this time and had 2, 2 bedroom ocean view condos. My husband and I enjoyed early morning walks on the beach front path and walked to the Sheraton. Dukes (the restaurant on property) was amazing as well--always our favorite.…
Spent the Christmas holiday in Maui and very glad we decided to stay at Honua Kai. Great facility in great location. We rented through KBM Hawaii and they were very accommodating. Krishna was helpful. Nice touches like boogie boards and soaps made the transition easier. The condo was very clean and the facility has great amenities such as great pools and hot tubs. Great walking path located between the hotel and beach made for nice walks. The entire facility was clean. Great beach with sand and good snorkeling. Equipment can be rented on site. Will definitely stay again.
I don’t know even where to start on this review. If there is a better word for “perfect” then please insert instead. Let me start at the beginning of our 2020 covid journey. After all the other trips planned for 11 of us died out half was through the year, we decided to head to Maui since it was in the US and hey, we can travel to the US right? Wrong! Shortly after we booked our trip for September 2020 for 11 of us, the great state of Hawaii went back to a 14-Day quarantine rule when traveling there. HI had originally said that if you can prove a negative covid test then you may enter. Since they shut that down, we lost half of our group but still booked 6 of us for November hoping the pretest would be back in place. It was our lucky day since HI opened to pretest travel October 15th. This was about 4 weeks until our trip. By November 1st many restaurants were reopened with limited capacity. We got our tests completed by CVS and Vault and had results in 24 hours. The stress part was over. Once in Maui and our required $500 trip to Costco, we headed to our villa at Honua Kai Resort. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a nice security officer checking our pretest papers that we got at the airport. He then told us we can check in at the bell desk. See, this is the best part about this villa is that you don’t have to deal with the main resort or check in desk. It all goes through the great team at KLVR Management. We were directed to our villa which happened to be in building 1 right behind the security officer. Each building of villas has 4 units (2 on top and 2 on bottom). We had the 1-C unit at the top. Another great feature is the detached garage and the fact you park right at the unit. We located our “keys” (wristbands with RFID tags). These bands allowed access to the unit as well as other areas that are locked. We headed into the unit and the first thing we noticed, other than how spacious the unit is, was the new smell. I think due to covid we were amongst the first to stay in this unit. I believe they are only about a year old. There was a box of chocolates, Kona coffee and a nice welcome note. Thought that was a nice touch. This place was immaculate. The rooms were all masters with their own bathrooms and two having balconies. The kitchen has all high-end appliances and even the cookware was a high-end brand. They thought of everything from the plates, glassware (both glass and plastic) to the martini shaker. There was an ice bucket for ice but with covid the resorts ice machines were down. There is a supermarket two minutes from the resort and there you can get ice and anything else needed. The fridge does make ice but with 6 adults it goes fast. The lanai was spacious and had an outdoor grill and wine fridge. The view from the lanai was of the 2 other buildings and right down the middle you could see the blue ocean lined with tiki torches that come alive at night. As far as the service, it was fantastic! The communication was perfect. We had a direct line our entire stay for anything that came up. We had asked for 6 chairs for the beach and there were 6 chairs waiting for us. The ice cooler was not immediately there but a quick text to Roshy at KLVR and magically 10 minutes later there was one in the garage. Also, somehow on our last night we locked ourselves out of the safe and they came out within minutes to unlock the “user error”. That was the only two things we really needed. Everything else was spelled out the week before in a nice email with all the info about the unit and what to expect. As for the grounds, the pools were nice with main pools and each cluster of villas had their own pool. Dukes Beach House was about a 3-minute walk right on the beach. Great food and live music. The beach was not the best part of the property. Instead, go down a few blocks on the boardwalk and find a spot there in front of the Marriott. I can’t thank the team at KLVR enough for the great service and support (sometimes emotional) we had for the months dealing with trying to finally make it to Hawaii. Well, we finally did, and we were glad that we choose this 1-C Villa!! We have stayed at a lot of VRBO’s and this one was voted the best by our group. We didn’t want to leave. Now that we are back to reality, we can’t wait to go back! Thank you again! Alan, Mary Ellen, Missy, Jesse, Chad, and Heather a.k.a “The Maui Misfits”…
