My family and I stayed at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa over the Christmas holiday this past year (2020). When we walked into the lobby to check in, we were amazed by how beautiful the resort is from the beautiful waterfalls, flamingos and koi ponds, modern decor, and friendly/helpful staff. The Lanai lobby was top notch with unique amenities and great food. The guest rooms were just renovated and are very well done, with ample outdoor space for guests to take advantage of the perfect location and gorgeous views. I am life time titanium elite so I have stayed at many Bon Voy properties over the years and can say this one is one of the nicest I have visited. However, because I have kids (6 & 10) I would not return to this resort for one reason - the pools are freezing cold. Unlike most resorts on Maui, this one does not heat their pools. They have 2 water slides and a pool dedicated to the little ones, but almost no one was in the pools despite the temperatures in the high 80’s each day. The pools were just too cold, in fact the ocean was warmer and we found more guests at the beach than at the pool. If the resort decides to heat the pools, we will be back in a heartbeat but unless that happens the cold pools are a deal breaker so we will find another resort on Ka’anapali beach. …
Despite the terrible reviews of poor service and tired rooms across of this property I was contemplating a stay here at the end of the month as I heard they had recently renovated one of their towers. I contacted the hotel just to get some general information on what to expect so decided to call the hotel directly. They could not have been more rude or unhelpful. The first call went unanswered for over two minutes so i disconnected and called back. The second time I was transferred to the wrong department. The third time I finally got ahold of someone at the front desk (or maybe the operator) who refused to answer any of my questions about the rooms and really made it clear they weren't interested in having guests on property. Definitely no "Aloha" service here! I am sure the terrible service that is detailed throughout these reviews have just been exasperated with the pandemic but I was a bit surprised given the occupancy/tourism rates that they wouldn't be at least friendly when someone called to inquire about a stay. In any event definitely feel like I dodged a bullet and will look at other properties-even with Ambassador status with Marriott it appears this hotel is not interested in any business right now. There are great hotels on Maui that are desperate for business AND welcoming-I would advise anyone to look elsewhere.…
My girlfriend and I had our first trip to maui, we visited the concierge desk and Aurora was amazing. She knew the island and found activities that fit our interest. We are lost and confused on what we are going to do during our stay but, now we have our whole week planed plus a couple extra bonvoy points. Great place and great service. Thanks Aurora
We absolutely loved our stay at The Westin! We were at another hotel on Kaanapali that had major issues so we checked in to the Westin on 12/30. From the moment we got there, everyone was so helpful and kind. Wayne at the front desk checked us in, got us a great room with an even better view! It was perfect for 3 of us, my husband and 11 year old daughter. We felt comfortable immediately and knew we made the right choice to move. The hotel itself is beautiful and the grounds truly make you feel that you are in a tropical paradise, especially the Koi pond and waterfalls! We were lucky enough to travel during COVID - all the safety protocols at the hotel were great and everyone wore a mask. They were very good about enforcing masks in a kind way and always had disposable ones available to guests - mostly kids- who forget them at the pool. The hotel was clean, well taken care of and The Lanai in the new tower was the best part of our stay. We were up there everyday, working, eating, enjoying our trip. It was nice to know we had a little more of a private area to still enjoy everything about Maui and the Westin. I LOVED the sunset ceremony with the conch shell and kombucha! That is one thing not to be missed. Gia, Valerie and Mae who were in The Lanai all took excellent care of us and answered any questions we had. They greeted us with a smile everyday and knew exactly what we liked. The kitchen at the hotel was closed for a few days and the hotel did an incredible job at still providing food options for everyone. They even made Malasads for my daughter despite having a closed kitchen because she loved them so much. They made then a few days in a row! Thank you for that! We extended our stay another week because we loved being there and were having such a wonderful time. It was a great escape from the reality of CA and a very much needed break after a long 10 months. The pool was great, the water slide and the beach were AMAZING! So easy to walk right to the beach and swim and snorkel everyday. They are also right next to Whalers Village which we loved for shopping and other food choices. It's also very safe for kids (teens) to walk to by themselves which was a fun adventure for my daughter and some friends she met. Everything felt very safe during COVID and I can only imagine how even more amazing this resort will be when life returns to normal. Only one note - we think the pool temp should be a little warmer :) but that could be from jacuzzis not being on due to COVID. My daughter likes a warm pool! LOL. We can't wait to come back and we are already planning our Christmas 2021 trip!…
We stayed at the Westin over Christmas for a week. We enjoyed the experience. The main restaurant with the ocean view was still not finished so all of our meals except for breakfast were at an outdoor mall next-door. It was actually nice to have that mall next door because you could buy wine or any necessities that you might need. There was only 20 percent occupancy at the hotel while we were there so I think that contributed to a nicer experience. Our checkin went smoothly and we were happy with our updated ocean view room. We took our kids to the beach but the waves and undertow were far too strong for small children. We then decided to take them to the pool. The pool water was very cold and our kids even complained about the water temperature and they generally are never bothered by cold water. After about 20 minutes they came out of the pool. Their lips were slightly blue. We asked each day for the pool temperature to be raised but it never increased. Luckily the water calmed down on many of the days and we just enjoyed the beach instead. People at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning. It seemed as if it was setup in a temporary space because the main restaurant was not finished. The food was good and service was very good. One day there was an afternoon wind storm that knocked out all the power for about 7 hours. There were very few options to find food to feed our children at that time. The people at the hotel were generally good about following covid rules such as masks and social distancing. It wasn't hard to spot the red state people but since we were outside we could avoid those non mask wearers fairly easily. I think once the renovation is complete its a very nice mid range level hotel and I would go again.…
