The expansive two bedroom and two bedroom/loft air-conditioned oceanfront townhomes range from 1,700 to 2,100 square feet in size. As you enter the elegant etched glass doorway, you will find that no two townhomes are alike. Each has its own distinct personality, with professionally selected furnishings, decorated with rich wood accents and works of local artisans, creating an elegant, relaxed but refined island atmosphere.

Our family of 10 are enjoying the most incredible vacation imaginable. We rented two of the units, both 3-bedrooms, and felt like celebrities. I can’t say enough about Paula, the on-site manager who anticipates your every need. She goes well beyond expectations to ensure the whole experience at Puunoa is magical and memorable.
Being able to walk out the patio door and be on the beach, without navigating hotel elevators, fighting for a chair at the pool, paying hotel restaurant prices for each meal...amazing! Especially during the Covid concerns we appreciate being together yet away from crowds.
I’ve been to Maui many times but this week at Puunoa will always rank the highest of them all.

We have been spoiled! Our 3 bedroom unit was spacious and had everything we needed. Paula the manager goes out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect. We really liked the location. I felt like we had our own beach. Being able to walk to restaurants was wonderful too. I highly recommend the Lahaina Grill (get your reservations months in advance) In the past we have stayed in Kaanapali and Wailea. I like Puunoa on Baby Beach the best because you're not fighting crowds and it's just so relaxing. We will never stay at a big resort after being spoiled at Puunoa!

We booked this unit after very much research. I found it on the internet on the Whaler's Realty site. Before I booked, they were very accommodating answering my many email questions. My husband and I had been in Hawaii several times, but this was the first trip for our friends from Germany. So I wanted everything to be perfect.
And Pu'uona fits the bill !!. Our 2200 sq.ft. 3 bedroom unit was lovely, barely 50 yards from uncrowded Baby beach, just north of Lahaina, right off of Front Street in a residental area. Shallow water, safe for children.
We stayed for 1 week and after the 3rd day my German friend said: "If there is a paradise, this it it". They hardly wanted to leave the unit and just enjoy the view, peace and tranquility.

I booked this property for our stay in July 2014 and was very excited based on the reviews and pictures on the website. Overall, the ocean view was beautiful and Baby Beach isn't as busy as some other areas, so crowds in front of our unit weren't an issue. We stayed in unit 201, which was generally quiet - our downstairs neighbors were a bit noisy when on their lanai, but this is an issue you could face anywhere.

The unit itself is somewhat dated - older appliances, 90's-style wallpaper, stains on the bedspread, etc. Not horrible, but definitely not the upscale feel that the glammed-up photos on the website would seem to indicate.

As noted in other reviews, the kitchen is stocked with utensils, plates and pots, but that's it - no basic necessities you need for cooking. No salt, pepper, cooking spray, almuminum foil, etc. I have stayed in many other rental condos and this is the first time I've experienced anything like this. For the price you pay, I don't expect to have to bring my own salt and pepper - only to have to leave it behind at check-out.

While the location is great for beach access, there are some pretty sketchy neighborhoods on either side of these condos. Access to the actual condos is gated, so we were fine once inside, but not so much when walking in the surrounding area. There are no streetlights or sidewalks on the walk to the shops and restaurants in Lanania and we ran into a few - er - interesting characters one night, and we were chased by a pack of 6-7 dogs (no kidding) while walking back from a luau another night. Needless to say, we only traveled by car when heading out following those two incidents - so just be careful if you do want to venture out on foot.

I wondered why the website didn't show any pictures of the fitness center - but got my answer when I saw that this was no more than 3 ancient cardio machines and a weight bench in the manager's office, which can only be accessed during business hours. Oh well - at least I got my exercise running away from the dogs.

Finally, the supplies were anything but upscale. The condo was stocked with the cheapest, scratchiest toilet paper and tissue available, towels were so old and worn they felt like sandpaper, the shampoo, soap and lotion were all institution-grade, laundry detergent wasn't re-stocked during our stay, etc. Again, just not at all what I'd expect at these prices.

In short, go for the beach location but know that this is all your $800/night is getting you.

My original desire was to book a private home for our family of six. We are typically too big for hotel rooms for more than a night or two. There are a lot of condo resorts on Maui, both high rise and spread out. Puunoa Estates 303 is very different from either.
It is in a VERY private gated community with a total of 10 units. 303 is the only unit managed by Whaler Realty. The other 9 are managed by an on-site manager. Most of them don't even rent out; the owners don't want the hassle or need the money.
303 is a three bedroom on the second and third floor of a 3 story unit. A two bedroom is on the first floor. The furniture and appointments are excellent. This unit isn't near a beach; it's on a beach. While the sand is only about 10 yards deep, you definitely can walk right out into ocean if you want to. "Baby beach" isn't much bigger anyway.
You are within two blocks of Lahaina town. That was our desire. We walked into town almost every day. You are 10 minutes from the beaches of Kaanapali, 20 minutes from Kapalua.
Don't expect the activities of Kaanapali or the on-site restaurants of a Kapalua. That's all in Lahaina. Just expect to feel like you are in your own private home on a beach in paradise

I almost never leave a review on the internet but this property was so exceptional and so little known that I just had to take the time to leave my thoughts.

This is our third stay at Puunoa Beach. My family of five my wife and I and three adult children stayed at unit 205 late December. The unit was recently renovated with granite counter tops, travertine floors and new appliances. I am happy to say that the original Hawaiian Koa Wood cabinets were restored to their original finish rather than replaced. The owners added a "den" or third bedroom, with a queen bed... perfect for our oldest.

This property is right on the beach... I mean on-the-beach! The edge of the water is barely more than 60 feet from the lanai, 205 is on the second floor so we felt comfortable leaving the patio doors from the bedroom open at night to hear the sound of the surf.

The whole property only has 10 units and not all of them are available to rent. Paula and Toni share desk duties seven days a week to answer questions about beaches, things to do, restaurants to try.

I just can not say enough about this little piece of Paradise. Every unit is privately owned so I can't say how the rest of the units are furnished but this one 205 exceed our every expectation.

Stayed in unit #103. Nice beachfront unit and close to downtown Lahaina. Very clean unit with a great view from patio. The kitchen was well appointed but a small selection of spices would have been nice for those that cook. My three teenage girls didn't spend as much time on the beach in front of the unit as expected due to the fact that a transient person had set up a hammock and had taken up residence there. We would have given this review a 2 if it were based on our experience with the property manager. He very rudely ran us out of the barbecue area with meals literally half eaten on our second night there, stating we were past curfew. The house book clearly states we are allowed to have food and beverage in the area while grilling. It does not state a curfew for the grill area. His curt and unyielding attitude set the tone for the rest of our stay and encouraged us to avoid him when possible. A different approach that evening would have been greatly appreciated.

We spent 8 nights in unit 203 (the 3 BR loft available through Whalers Realty) in April 2007. The beach exceeded our expectations and was PERFECT for our rather timid 3 year old -- absolutely still with plenty of sand for playing in the morning, and then very little sand but heavenly lapping waves when the tide came in in the afternoon. We also have a 1 year old and place tremendous value on the ability to feel like we're on vacation when stuck in the room, and that was absolutely the case here given the huge lanai and beautiful oceanfront location. The pool was very nice as well (very quiet).

For $600 a night, however, I expect nice accommodations -- and while this was probably nice when they furnished it 15 years ago (the construction is impeccable and all the wood furnishings are beautiful), they have not replaced the upholstered furniture and the carpet was just short of disgusting. My 1 year old's feet were black on top within a couple of days from her feet rubbing on the carpet. And I realize it's the tropics, but I still did not expect to see roaches scurry away when I turned on the lights at night to make a bottle. (We did not leave ANY food out.)

It was definitely nice to be able to walk into Lahaina for meals when we wanted, and nice proximity to other west Maui destinations. I would probably stay in this condo complex again, just not at this unit -- not for $600/night, when I can stay in a high end hotel suite for that price.

Our group of 6 just returned yesterday from 7 glorious nights in unit #205! My husband and I have been to Maui several times but always stayed in hotels either in Wailea or Kaanapali. We decided to rent this condo this time as we took our two grown sons and their significant other with us. The best decision ever! Literally, it was one of the best vacations in many, many years. The condo was centrally located...walking distance to Lahaina's front street, the luau, supermarket, snorkel rental and just a short drive (5mins) to Kaanapali's golf courses, shops and restaurants. The unit had everything you'd need for a week's stay, was tastefully decorated in Hawaiian motif, and just a stone's throw from the gentle waters of Baby Beach. The view was magnificent and we were blessed with 7 days of perfect weather. The pool/jacuzzi/BBQ area was great...we didn't see anyone else use this facility the entire time we were there. What a great place! We will be back!

Your best bet is to go to HomeAway or vrbo and search on Puunoa Beach Estates. You'll get the listings and can send an email to the owner/manager. That way you'll be dealing with the owner directly. The other choice is to go to puunoabeachestates site and work through the resort management.
