Nestled on a stunning beachfront, Outrigger Ka'anapali Beach Resort is lauded for its exceptional location, with guests appreciating the convenience to Whalers Village and local dining. Visitors revel in the vibrant atmosphere, underscored by cultural activities and live music, while the renovated rooms enhance the overall experience. Cleanliness is a standout, with meticulous upkeep evident throughout.
However, some guests mention outdated room features and high costs for certain amenities. The staff's warmth is frequently commended, though issues with refunds and room access have been noted.

When we arrived, the friendly faces and aloha greetings were appreciated after a long day of travel.
Our room was ready, very clean, quiet and comfortable with a larger bath than most hotels.
The ocean view was beautiful and appreciated all day long. The property location was great for a short walk to Whalers Village for food or shopping.
The lei kukui song and small ceremony by the cultural center was a nice finishing touch.

KBH is a wonderful, peaceful older Hawaiin hotel with beautiful well kept gardens, very well located near the north end of a 2 or 3kms + boardwalk and beach, with popular Whalers Village featuring many stores & restaurants only a 5 minute walk away. There are frequent warnings about the surf conditions so small children would need to stay out of the water on many occassions, but there's plenty of sand for them to play in or the whale shaped pool is a good option as well. For only an extra $4.00 USD / day the very efficient valet parking staff will deal with the parking of your car.

We stayed 7 nights at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. We are not "resort people" and shy away from big hotels, but we wanted to stay near the beach in the Ka'anapali area. This resort was perfect for us. Unlike the big hotels down the beach, this hotel is quiet, uncrowded, and has an "old Hawaiian vibe" to it. We felt like we were in our own little world (until we ventured out).
We never felt crowded and were always able to find a lounge chair to relax on and shade to sit in. The rooms are large, and the rattan furniture gives it an old plantation feel (even though it is showing some wear). The water pressure in the shower was fantastic, and the water heated up instantly. The room was very clean.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly. There is a lot of variety at the breakfast buffet. The Tiki Bar is very cool, and they have very interesting cocktails. There is free entertainment nightly, which is a very nice touch. The grounds are beautiful, and you can't beat the location. It is right on the beach near Black Rock. Whaler's Village and plenty of restaurants are a short walk away.
I would stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone who would like a relaxing place on the beach away from all the hustle and bustle of other resorts.

There are lots of high end hotels and condos along Ka'anapali beach but we chose KBH from the reviews that mentioned its unique Hawaiian aloha ambiance and proximity to the beach. Do not consider this resort if you want the accommodations of an impersonal hotel chain. From the moment you drive up to the entrance you are greeted by the friendliest valets we have ever had in all our travels. The resort lobby is very aloha Hawaiian in style. If you want gloss and granite go elsewhere. The grounds at KBH are simply beautiful. The pool is shaped like a whale and there are plenty of chaises to relax around the pool and throughout the grounds. Shade or sun, it's your pick. Sunbathers, swimmers, nappers, book lovers, young, old and families would all feel at home because this resort specializes in the Aloha spirit and culture.
Our room was in the Kawai wing, very close to the beach. The decor is Hawaiian with historical photos and paintings of local flora and fauna. Our bathroom was adequate and needs some updating but the water pressure is great. The AC is unobtrusive and quiet. Housekeeping is highly organized and efficient. Our room (and all rooms) have a lanai or deck to enjoy your favorite beverage in the morning or evening. Note to management: install pullout clotheslines in the bathroom over the tub to hang wet swimsuits.
Check out the videos on the KBH to get a feel why this resort is completely different from the others in the area.
And did I say value? Yes!

Great location and good price. Restaurants seemed out of line for the cost of food but I suppose this is due to convenience. Just fyi, there is fast food just a few miles from the hotel and a Subway on the beach that is 1/3 the cost of the hamburgers and sandwiches here. The pool was okay but surrounding hotels have better facilities. We were there at the beginning of the COVID-19 scare and while wiping down the room with Lysol wipes, it was obvious the cleaning staff had never touched any of the door handles. The carpet felt gross to my bare feet so I wore socks the entire time I was in the room.

Mostly retired folks, the luau next door ( I think just on the weekends) was fairly loud and we were on the opposite side of the campus, the rooms are dark and the carpet could be changed, it smelled old and even my clothes still smelled when we got back, we tried to keep the patio open to air out the room at night but thats if you can stand hearing the loud live music all evening, and every day. I know hotels usually have soft beds but you could tell our was starting to get concave and a little too soft. If you have a rental car there is a parking garage for a daily fee (I think about $14 per day?) but the spaces are mostly compact and pretty tight, the pool was fairly cold (not only my opinion after watching everyones faces when getting in the pool and nobody stayed in for too long), it gets pretty deep fast too. I you plan on buying your own food they don't have rooms with kitchenettes or any supplies to borrow. Some good things; the staff is very nice and helpful, the shower water pressure was really strong, and the tiki bar was pretty good with reasonable prices (compared with other nearby locations), large beach, close walk to Whalers village and other nice hotels, also close drive to grocery stores and places to eat.

Just came back from our first visit to Maui. I booked through Costco and paid extra for a premium ocean view room, when I got there I was very disappointed to see a building opposite my balcony instead of the ocean. You could see the ocean from the balcony. I called down to reception and they told me that this is indeed an ocean view room. I asked them what is premium about it and they said that it's because the room is newly renovated. I spoke to the manager in the morning and they got me into a better room with a better view.
So, the rooms are newly renovated and are really really nice. New everything - the closet has lights in it that come on when you open the door, a fridge, a safe, an electric kettle and a Keurig machine. The kettle and Keurig machine are in a wooden shelving unit just above the fridge. They have two white mugs that I found to be very small. Also, the room is new right now, but I feel if you keep boiling water in the kettle, the steam will warp the wooden shelf above and around it and it won't look that good.
Anyway, the lighting OMG. So like I said, it's all brand new, and in order to have power to most of the room, you have to put your key card in a little slot in the wall. If you don't your room won't have power. So we put the card in, and there are these recessed lights on two sides of the room, above the bed and another in the ceiling above the tv. Well, we could not switch the lights of behind the tv at ALL. The switch inside the bedroom switched off the lights above the bed, but not above the tv. We spent ages looking for the switch. Finally, we discovered that we had to pull out the key card in order to switch those lights out!! However when you pull out the key card, you can't switch on the bathroom or entry lights, only the table lamps in the room of which there are 3. So so frustrating! The lights were too bright to leave on, but we had to take the key card out and just remember to put it back In if we needed the bathroom. Super annoying design failure like epic. Anyway, in the room we were put in the next day, this was not the case. The switch on the bedroom wall switched off both sets of recessed lights! Phew!!
So, the ac system in the room is brand new too. Very fancy looking not very intuitive. Once we figured it out, we found out that it won't work if the patio doors are open!! It's cost saving for the hotel though because you have to take both key cards with you when you leave, so you can't leave the ac on.

At the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel , you have everything! Best beach, best courtyard with real grass, great food, great people. Close to all activities. Whalers Village is just a 5 minute walk down the beach. They will try their best to correct any issue you may have regarding your room, or other things. Beds are so comfortable that you don't want to get out of it. Want to arrange for an activity for the day or week, ask the activity desk people and they will arrange it for you. Relax and enjoy in comfort.

We chose this hotel based on location and price. The location is very good, right in the middle of everything on Kaanapali Beach. The price was ok, but I think we will stay in another location on the beach next time around.
Here's our impressions of the place: The hotel totally needs to be updated/renovated. The room had a musty old dirty smell that was very unpleasant. Like an old attic place would smell. Walking down the halls we smelled the same smell, so it was definitely something at the whole hotel they need to deal with.
The room itself is a good size, the storage is a joke, there is no place to store you clothes unless you use the hangers. They need to get rid of the stupid armoire with the minuscule tv and put in a dresser with a nice large tv wall mounted above. There was no place to really relax in the room with a snack or drink if you didn't want to use the lanai table and chairs.
There was no elevator for a 3 story building, so you need to be able to lug your suitcases up. I do believe there was an elevator in another building that had 5 floors. So this could be an issue if you can't do stairs.
The fridge is very small, half the size of normal hotel fridges. The safe is with a key and you need pay $1.50/day to use it, which is ridiculous in this day and age.
The parking is plentiful, but you pay $14/for that too.
The hotel dining room is not great, I would only eat there as a last resort, if it was raining or you just didn't want to go anywhere. May be better to order a pizza delivery form Round Table up the street.
Over all, not a bad stay and I would stay again if they renovated the place. Until then, we'll stay someplace more updated for similar prices on the beach.

We stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel for 9 days, 8 nights and it was everything we were hoping for! The service and staff throughout the resort were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and genuine. The location is ideal for walking to Whaler's Village and different restaurants, it was a short trip to Lahaina and other places of interest. Their new restaurant, HuiHui, had fantastic food, great service, great view and perfect nightly entertainment (I recommend the Lobster Dumplings, Park Belly Skewers, Ahi special, Braised Pua'a shank or Avacado and crab salad for dinner)! The beach area is less crowded than in front of other larger resorts around you, and the staff at the Hale Huaka'i is fun, helpful and gave us tons of options for adventure including stand up paddle boards, a Wa'a (canoe) excursion, chairs, umbrellas and towels. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the recently remodeled rooms - they feel like an upscale resort with perfect space and comfort, and the ocean view rooms make it even better! There is great snorkeling nearby at Black Rock cove area, early morning is best for that. The only issue we had the whole time was our refrigerator went out, BUT with one quick call to maintenance someone came in 5 minutes and replaced it while we were at the beach! That's great service. Would highly recommend staying here, I know we'll be back!

No. It is the hotel/condos next door that have access
There wasn't a problem for us finding chaisies available and there seemed to be plenty around the pool. It's a spacious pool area with the option to lounge on the grass around the pool as well. We opted to sit right by the pool, right on the beach, and on the grass near the pool. There are lots of options.
We would have stayed in the old section in a minute! Our kids had a ground floor room facing the gardens/pool. The only issue was a small toilet. They had an extra step down area with a day bed. The patio doors opened up to the beautiful landscape and had lawn chairs to lay on. And they had their room set to freezing! No problem with the AC!!!
Like I sai- we paid ALOT more for the oceanfront. It depends on what you like. Do you care about the wall decor and pattern of your comforter? Their room at least double the size of ours.
To each his own!
I hope when we go back we can ask for the older section. Then again- we just sleep in the room. No mold.
The breakfast prices at the hotel’s new restaurant, Hui-Hui, are ridiculously high! You will pay $24 for the basic breakfast of 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, 1 slice of toast, and potatoes! If you want coffee, add another $6.00. If you want juice, add another $5.00. If you want the corned beef hash instead of bacon or sausage, add another $4.00.
