The good news is that it is pretty much as I remembered it. Unfortunately, that is also the bad news, It really could use some updating / remodel. It is looking tired. On the plus side: (1) The views are stunning. (2) The location is convenient (3) The lobby is gorgeous.

The Hyatt's wedding staff was able to accommodate a last second wedding venue change. The facility is beautiful and the pictures came out amazing. The accommodations are top notch and we loved being able to leave our slider open at night and listen to the ocean waves. Service

Everything was awesome during our stay from the wonderful greeting at the front desk, to the bell service and valet. We were blessed with a room on the first floor overlooking the ocean and walking right out of our sliding door onto the grass and to the pool/ocean. Will

This is the nicest, most expansive property in Lahaina- The Ocean Views from the upper floors (8th floor) in Lahaina Towers were worth the extra money - you could literally see the ocean & whales from the bed- YES, its expensive, but so is every hotel in this area- you pay for

Whalers Village is a short walk from the resort and there are multiple restaurants in that area.

"Walking distance" means to us any location along the beach front walkway up to Whaler's Village. In the Hyatt's immediate vicinity, the pricey but good Japengo is a good choice and there's also a Sonz upscale restaurant inside the Hyatt (overlooks the pond and swans, ducks, etc.) but we've not been impressed with the food there. I'd pass on that one. Now, venture up toward the Marriott direction and there's a Kaanapali Grille restaurant at the Marriott, facing the beach as you walk along. After the Marriott, your best bet will be Whaler's Village with restaurants like Leilani's, Hula Grill, Monkey Pod, (all located at the entry to Whaler's Village) and then there's a less formal but good food court which I wouldn't really call a restaurant. I recall there's a restaurant just outside the Westin (by the beach) which has a nice set-up on the grass overlooking the beach. It has changed its name over the years and the current name is escaping me. That's located shortly before Whaler's Village. If you find that the prices are pretty high for every night dining at the restaurants, there are less expensive options like the Beach Walk Kau Kau in the Marriott complex and I'm going to put in another plug for the Food Court in Whaler's Village. Nikki's Pizza (and Italian Food) is excellent but the other 3 food court options (Mexican, Filipino/Asian, and Subway) are very good budget friendly choices. Our dinner for 4 at Japengo included wine with dinner; added costs were after-dinner cocktails and desserts for 2 in our party. After adding in the tip for excellent service ... our dinner came to just about $1,000. It was a very nice splurge for a special occasion. If you decide to go Japengo's, make reservations early and do ask if you can be seated inside, as opposed to the card table-like set up in the outside eating part of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very attractive and I wished we could have been seated there instead of the disappointing outside area.

Yes there are chairs that face the ocean but maybe not what would you would expect. It wasn’t what I am accustomed to in Florida. The chairs face the ocean but there is vegetation between the land and the ocean in a somewhat shelf type layout. We reserved the Ocean Hale for a day and it was incredible. However the next time we will rent the smaller cabana. We loved this hotel primarily due to the location and afternoon walks. I can send you a pic to show you what I mean if you like. Hope this helps.
