We had a wonderful time! The office staff is AMAZING! They have excellent communication with guests and made sure during this crazy time that our vacation was perfect. While we were there the TV stopped working and the OWNER came and replaced it, personally, within the hour so we could watch the World Series. The unit was #13 and it had a private patio and beach access/grassy area with lawn furniture right outside our lanai. We also had everything we needed that many other places do not provide (paper towels, tissues, TP, beach towels, dishsoap, sponges, trash bags). It is centrally located in Kihei and was close to everything. There's a shopping center right across the street and grocery store down the way a bit. Kihei Cafe is close by and we highly recommend it. Ululani's for shaved ice a must and get it with a snowcap. Our only recommendation is to include a sheet upon check in with the wifi password and location of washer/dryer on the property (one in the unit would've been great) and coffee filters for the coffee maker. As others have mentioned there is ONLY AC in the bedroom so the rest of the unit was pretty uncomfortable. I know electric is expensive on the island but it was expensive to stay here so that was the only drawback. We had a fantastic time in spite of the heat in the condo and worked around it as most people can probably figure out that part of it once they get there.

+1
Check in was a very simple process and you even get a card that gives you a discount at a local grocery store. The parking lot was gated and since every unit gets a spot, we never had a problem finding a spot.
We stayed in unit 406 which had been remodeled and was absolutely gorgeous! The open concept living area opens to a balcony & overlooks the ocean. I was initially concerned we'd be too hot since there's only an AC unit in the bedroom and we're from Texas where you have AC everywhere you go and one of us runs very hot. But we didn't even end up using the AC unit at all. Whenever we were there, we kept the large slider doors facing the ocean open so we got an excellence breeze (there's also a transom window over the front door that allows a cross breeze) in addition to the fans in both rooms. The bathroom was my favorite part because it was the best ever set up for a germaphobe because the shower was spacious, clean and you didn't have to step out of your clean shower to the toilet.
The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with utensils, cups, coffeemakers, pots and pans, and plenty of standard spices and items you need while cooking. I normally rent through something like Airbnb and wasn't sure what to expect from this condo, but it was actually even better because they have housekeeping that takes trash & dirty towels and you can get clean towels any time which is very handy at the beach. We had some issues getting the Roku tv set up as I think it wasn't set up with the right profile for guests. I had to factory reset the entire thing to remove my own personal streaming accounts.
The grounds have a pool and there's an area on the property set above the beach with tables & beach lounge chairs on turf and it's such a nice place to lounge and watch the ocean without having to get into the sand. The water on this side of the island wasn't clear, at least while we were there. It's more of the dark blue kind of sea. There are some gorgeous rock formations on the beach near the hotel.
The location was nice as well; I felt very safe the entire time and it's a popular tourist area, so there are always people walking around. You can easily walk across the street to several restaurants, ice cream shops, and various other stores. A little further down (still in walking distance or you can hop in the car) are more restaurants (highly recommend Three's Bar & Grill), shopping and grocery stores. It's a really good driving distance from many things on the island, only 30 minutes to the airport and about the same to go to northeast Maui beaches which are gorgeous and great for sea turtle spotting; or up into the mountains for hiking.

My mom and I stayed at the Hale Pau Hana for 1 week in unit #25. It was well equipped and a great location. Minor issue with one of the lights in the bathroom and the TV in the bedroom wasn't working but who goes to Maui to watch TV, right? The property is well maintained and on a beautiful walkable and swimmable stretch of beach close to all amenities. Lots of fun BBQ'ing at night and watching all the young families running around. Staff were accommodating and we really appreciated the late checkout until 3pm. We paid $150 to keep the room until 6pm which was well worth the money. They provide beach chairs and an umbrella and we loved watching the sunset each evening. The only recommendation I would make is if they ever do a renovation, having glass rather than a metal railing on the upper floor lanai would be a wonderful upgrade so people have an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. Mahalo!

Hana Pau Hana was disappointing. For the cost, we expected something a little more upscale and found it rather mediocre. The property itself is nice, on a great beach and the views are spectacular – that is what you are paying for.
Each unit is privately owned. We stayed in Unit #28, which as an end unit had a extra window, which was nice. However, over the unit seems dated and could use some upgrades to warrant the fees being charged. The kitchen was furnished with what seemed like leftovers or incomplete sets. The wrought iron furniture on the lanai with skimpy cushions could be replaced with something more comfortable and impervious to the salt air. The A/C unit is only in the master bedroom (on the street side) which cooled the room, but was extremely noisy. On the plus side it did mask the noise outside. Finally, as 2 guests we were provided 2 beach towels, 2 sets of bath/hand towels and wash clothes that are replaced every Mon/Weds/Friday (great when things don’t dry). However, when we requested additional beach towels for the beach and to keep the car seats dry, at first we were told there was a “linen shortage.” When we said that only two was impractical, we were given the extra towels grudgingly.

This condo is perfectly located to everything! Open the door to your lanai and you are literally steps from the beautiful beach. There is a well groomed grass area with loungers, tables and chairs and shady trees (not obstructing your view) between your condo and the sand which we enjoyed while watching the sunset. The pool is a nice refresher and the locking gate provides privacy from public use. The condo was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would highly recommend this unit to friends and family!

This is a delightful vacation rental that almost feels like a hotel with the towel change 3 times a week and the front desk for check in or questions. I had a video meeting scheduled for 4 and was worried I would not be ready with a 3pm check in. They offered an early check in if the room was ready, I was welcomed at 11am. First, its beach front to Kam 111, swimming and snorkeling in front of your lanai. I stayed in 603, beautiful view, great furnishings, thoughtful things like a electric outlet and phone charger on each nightstand, a video collection of Hawaiian movies, puzzles and games.

We stayed for 9 nights. We split our time in rooms 2 and 6. We bbq our dinner and watched the sunset almost every evening. It was the best way to spend our time. No restaurant could beat the view that we had every night. The grills were always very clean, and we enjoyed cooking on them. It was fun to light the tiki lamps while cooking.
The ambiance at The Hale Pau Hana is like no other condo I've stayed at. I have found my new favorite place to stay in Maui. When we come back, we will stay here or wait until we can stay here. Every other place will be a disappointment. That's how fabulous this condo is.
We snorkeled right at our beach on both the left and right sides of the beach near the rocks. We paddle boarded each morning. We played in the ocean until it got too windy, and then we toured the island. Finally, we watched the sunset each evening.
I will recommend The Hale Pau Hana to everyone I know traveling to Maui.

My family and I have been coming to the Hale Pau Hana for over 10 years and we could never imagine going elsewhere! Our first trip to Hawaii we realized truly how close to the ocean we were here and never looked back!
The grounds are incredibly well maintained and going down to the lawn and beach, we never feel overcrowded which is exactly what we want on a vacation! Everything is always so clean and welcoming in the condos themselves that it feels like a real home away from home!
There are some house rules, things like quiet hours and cleaning up after yourselves. All are really simple and easy to follow and make for a better experience for everyone.
I can't recommend the Hale Pau Hana strongly enough and I'm looking forward to our next visit this summer!

We have been to Maui a handful of times, and have decided that we love the pace of Kihei best. This was the first time we took our kids, and The Hale Pau Hana was a great choice for our condo.
We stayed in 207, and loved the location and the view. The lanai spans the entire condo, so there's a sliding door in three locations - by the kitchen table, the living room, and the front bedroom. We had 2 full bathrooms, and chose this location partly because we wanted 2 twin beds in the spare bedroom for our teen kids.
The towel service was very nice, as we got fresh towels on M-W-F. The only issue we experienced was the fact that the master bedroom is the only room with an air conditioner (my own fault for not reading the information correctly!). The kids had a great view of the ocean from their bedroom, but it was a little uncomfortable at times in the heat. Thankfully there were 2 box fans in the rooms, and we were able to direct air to them and that was helpful. Our bedroom was on the street side and had the air conditioner, and the noise actually was helpful to cut down on any extra street noise.
The beach is absolute perfection. We have visited many beaches in Hawaii, and this one is our favorite. Super fine sand with very few rocks. Not too populated, always a space to hang on the beach or swim, without getting too close to others.
Right across the street you'll find strip malls with snorkel rental, grocery essentials, shave ice, restaurants, and most importantly, cinnamon roll store. :)
We loved our visit, the service, location, beach... we hope to be back!

We just returned home from 2 weeks at the Hale Pau Hana. It was absolute paradise in every way. We felt very safe with the new cleaning measures that have been implemented. The staff is warm, welcoming & always helpful. The sunsets nightly on the lanai were the best I’ve seen out of all the other Maui locations. We also love Kamaole II especially with our kids (ages 9 & 11). There’s frequent turtles, gentle waves, great snorkeling & lots of space to spread out. The central Kihei location is ideal.
If you have been struggling your way through virtual school or homeschool like us, I encourage you to bring the school to Maui. And just make the best of this crazy year!
Also I should note,we always wore our masks while out and about (but the most wonderful thing about Hale Pau Hana is we often didn’t want to leave the unit or the ocean because it’s too amazing 🤣). So even though we stayed in a lot we did feel very welcomed by the locals and the businesses in the tourist areas.

All units have A/C in the master bedrooms. The other areas are kept comfortable by letting in the ocean breeze from the lanai and windows.
You can see photos of all the units and a list of amenities on our website. Don't hesitate to contact us directly if you have any questions about a particular unit!

Guest Relations
Aloha! Although virtually everything you need is within walking distance (groceries, shopping, restaurants, etc.), we agree that if you want to take day trips a car is best. We have ample (and free) onsite parking in a private lot exclusively for guests and owners. Each unit is guaranteed a parking spot. See you soon!
There are many units which have been renovated in the last few years. Our website has photography of all units, which will give you a good idea of current condition. You're also welcome to contact us directly, so we can make sure you end up with one which matches your tastes and needs!
On the beach side, you won't hear anything but the ocean.
You may hear street noise on the other side, but closing the east window usually does the trick. And at night with the bedroom door open, you can still listen to the surf.
Our very-lightest-sleeping guests report that bringing a "noise machine" ensures a blissful sleep.
Sorry for the delayed response! But if you're still planning your trip, or for anyone else... #602 is one of our upper-floor high rise units, with expansive ocean views.
Definitely visit our website for photography of every unit — and don't hesitate to contact us directly, so we can make sure we match you up with a unit which suits your tastes.
