Waking every morning was like opening a present to a beautiful day! Though listed as a garden-view cottage, the ocean and its sunset was beautifully seen from the porch. Ocean waters lapped sand over footprints on the beach just across the street. On our last evening there, a humpback whale and her calf lazed off shore as the sun dipped behind clouds silhouetted on the horizon. The kitchen met needs for easy meals. Dual heads in the shower was delightful!! The gardens were thoughtfully maintained. Soft, cool grass under bare feet is a thousand times better than a carpeted foyer! Our cottage also treated us to two original paintings by Nona, the proprietor. The warmth of aloha flowed as effortlessly from these as her handshake and embrace.
My husband and I spent our week in Maui based out of Nona Lani Cottages this past July. A lovely set of rustic cottages along the main Kihei Drive, with the sight and sounds of the beaches across the street. The proprietor was very welcoming and friendly, even giving us a fresh mango from her multitude of fruit trees. The surrounding gardens were paradise, and a relaxing hammock for our use. We spent some time enjoying our patio (umbrella provided), sipping gin and tonic and listening to the ocean. The kitchen is kitted out with what you need to cook your meals. All in all, a relaxing stay!
We had an excellent time at the Nona Lani Cottages August 11-15th 2019. It's located conveniently right across the beach, access to great eating places and in close proximity to drive to - Road to Hana, Haleakala Crater and Lahaina (Lanai Island). In addition, the sound of the beach, walking by the seashore, and the ocean breeze were a treat. Very homely place, clean rooms, excellent kitchen (with utensils) and quiet location without a pool. We considered resorts in the area - was too noisy, crowed and commercialized. If I had to do it again, I would stay at Nona Lani Cottages. Thank you.
We stayed in this dated, daggy and dank little place for one night before checking into superior accomodation elsewhere. It was pretty rough but the gardens and location are nice. The real spoiler came when I got home and copped an extra charge of $US41.67 from the one night stay at Nona Lani Cottages. This charge was extra to the ‘total charge’ that I’d already paid through Hotels.com. I didn’t agree to it, or know about it and as ALL hotel rooms need to be cleaned, it should not be some miscellaneous and unspecified secret extra charge after departure. For the record, we left the place immaculate, the charge wasn’t because it needed EXTRA cleaning, it’s for the normal linen and towel change. Not exactly something that should be extra to the total tariff. A TOTAL CHARGE NEEDS TO BE A TOTAL CHARGE! Anything else is a deceitful misrepresentation.…
The cottage was cozy and comfy. The kitchenette is nice if you choose to keep snacks and goodies in the fridge. Plates and utensils are also provided if you’d like to eat at the spot. The place is secluded from neighbors but has a great central location. Beds are super comfy! Would definitely book again!
