After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit hesitant about what it was going to be like. Going in with realistic expectations, I was pleasantly surprised that it was more comfortable than I thought. I did not mind having no TV as this is a great place to unplug and unwind and the oceanview from our lanai is nature's entertainment. The beach that you can walk to isn't much of a sandy beach but is swimmable although can be rough at times. Aware of what a mosquito magnet I am, I did not want an outdoor shower or hot tub so opted for the Iwa Suite which had a pretty impressive shower. The room was comfortable but as others have mentioned, is dated and you can see wear and tear. Since you are in a tropical environment, you will probably see small ants and even a gecko in your room which we kindly escorted out to the lanai. Thankfully, did not encounter any spiders in the room although they are around property. The fridge, microwave, and plates came in handy to enjoy our included breakfast and fruits we picked up from the fruit stands close by as well as takeout on our lanai. Quiet although you will hear your neighbors, safe enough that you don't need to lock your doors and a wonderful place to unwind but be aware that is it rustic.…
I am puzzled by the negative reviews. Our room (Iwa Suite - second floor) was clean and nicely furnished with Polynesian style wicker furniture. The kitchenette had a working mini-fridge with freezer for our ice packs, a microwave, coffee maker and supplies. There is a big private deck overlooking the ocean. The bathroom, though not resort style, is stone tiled and clearly was updated at least once. The views are incredible and the sound of the waves crashing and birds singing are wonderful. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but compared with every other place in Hana, it's a great value.
Unfortunately I did not read the most recent reviews before booking. We enjoyed Hana and made the most of it. Update on the bolts… corrosion has escalated. The deck needs some serious repairs. The “soaking tub” is actually a dingey old jacuzzi that does not work. You could fill it with water and just sit in it, but jets look nasty. The shower could have used a good scrub. The leaves and spider I could have done without. I have no problem with tiny ants and lizards. It is part of living in the tropics. The bed linens were very tired. The continental breakfast was 2 croissants and 1 muffin with some butter in an old basket and linen cloth. Definately not very appetizing. Ithink for $250.00/night you can definately do better. Not even a beach towel. The innkeeper was pleasant, but not around most of the time we were there. For $25…
I can’t fault the view amazing, but the accommodation I don’t think has been updated for at least 20 years and it’s not great and not worth the money. Such a shame as the host is lovely and th e views are amazing…. But the place needs significant renovation. If you don’t mind things being old… then the view is worth it, but I couldn’t recommend. Not sure how structurally safe the bolts are on the balcony!!!!!
I have some reservations about writing this review, because my wife and I hope to be able to reserve a room ourselves again soon. The proprietor is generous and thoughtful. The accommodations are beautiful and very Hana. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet and pretty place with a gorgeous view, as well as a tasty continental breakfast.
I would like to figure out how this place has 5 stars?? I give it 1 star. The view isn’t worth staying there. It's very rundown with minimal updates even though the owner had a Tesla vehicle parked in front so you would think he could have made some updates. The kitchen ware provided was old and dingy. The screen door didn’t close correctly, it didn’t lock. The soaking tub outside is pretty dirty and not really usable. The outdoor shower was no better. The patio furniture had faded cushions, the lamps had cobwebs. The bed sheets, (navy blue satin) seemed like they may not have been changed from the previous night guests. The toilet seat was loose and wobbly, the towels were not soft. Thank goodness there was only one night available when I booked because there was a two night requirement. Even though the night before and after was already booked, the owner still charged a $30 one night booking fee and would not refund The so called breakfast was not put out until 8:30 am and I wanted to take off by 7:00 am. I waited until 8:30 with the intention to take the little basket of some bread slices and a croissant with me to check out the town. The owner refused to let me, saying the basket were critical and irreplaceable.…
We loved everything about our stay. The view was incredible, the room was very comfortable, there was a great shower and we were able to walk to the food truck park every evening for dinner. Very nice breakfast each morning too. We’d love to return and stay for a couple of weeks. I think people who are complaining are looking for a luxury hotel experience at a lower price. Not a luxury hotel, but I think better. Hawaii at its best!
The Inn has a beautiful view and a comfortable bed. I would like to figure out how this place has 5 stars?? It's rundown and the room's kitchen area needs some TLC- Sink leaks, ants everywhere, screen door doesn't close correctly.. soaking tub outside is pretty dirty and not really usable. I would give 2.5 stars... The patio furniture was pretty dirty and moldy. The fridge didn't work, when I checked out (2 nights) the owner said he knew and a new one was on the way. Would have been nice to tell us, before some of our stuff spoiled. We had come from a very nice appointed Condo in Kaanapali, so it was a rude awakening to sleep there 2 nights.
The Bamboo Inn was a stop during our anniversary and based off the pictures and reviews left by previous travelers I was very excited. Let’s start with the great, the view is breathtaking and definitely as advertised. The not so good, the inn is dilapidated and needs to be updated with a few things. Bugs crawling everywhere inside. The outdoor shower…. well it’s honestly kind of gross and you’ll want to wear shoes IF you HAVE to shower. The windows and doors need work, shutting the slider on sliders lol well lift it gingerly. The shutters on the windows, well only 1 works correctly. Do bring your own shampoo and conditioners as well as soap bars. This has very basic necessities but not those items. Do you want to hear your neighbors, this is a great place for that. Bring ear plugs. The adorable couple above us were tiny but the footsteps made them sound like elephants. Faucets are broken. Kitchen sink is leaking. Owner is on sight so there isn’t a huge excuse for the shape of inn and advertising leads you to think you’re walking into something a bit more upscale. Sandwich approach, back to good. Bed is comfortable and gawd that view is gorgeous!! This is definitely the place to stop if you just need a place to rest your head. Be prepared and bring stuff you need with you and you’ll be super happy.…
We stayed here for 2 nights so we could enjoy our Road to Hana getaway. The Bamboo Inn is perfectly located near everything - the beach, the black sand beach, food trucks, grocery store etc. After a long day of driving The RTH, we were so happy to check in. Breakfast is served at 830, a nice touch! And fresh flowers were waiting for us upon arrival. Highly recommend this unique and rustic hotel!
