Great location on a black sand beach, with view and easy walk to ocean. Overprice, but every lodging around Hana is overpriced, even for Hawaii. Large studio-style. Very quiet and peaceful place. We enjoyed our stay at the unit Beside the price, the only negative is that there is no AC, but breeze kept it comfortable.

Staying here was incredible! Just quiet, relaxing & cozy. Loved the view & proximity to the Road to Hana. No TV, just tradewinds & island vibes. Clean, comfortable with everything you need & nothing you don’t. Felt happier here than in the fancy resort we previously stayed in. Friendly check in/out.

An amazing view, a huge room and a quiet environment: nothing better to rest after driving down the Highway to Hana! Yes, the room decoration is a bit outdated but this should not stop you from booking here! Only keep in mind that you should better buy groceries before coming here (and in Hana in general) since the shops close pretty early and the offer is not wide.

Mahalo! Our units have been renovated, but we prefer the reminiscent of old Hawaii feel. We also recommend that guests bring food, especially if they plan on arriving later in the day. Stores are closed by 5 or 6pm and only a few food trucks remain open till 7pm.

We stayed in unit 2 for two nights. Spending time in Hana made the whole “road to Hana” much more enjoyable, because we could take our time in both directions. This condo was perfectly located, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. We fell asleep listening to the ocean, and feeling the cool ocean breezes - heavenly. Since food options are scarce in Hana, we brought our groceries - the unit promised a full kitchen. However the stove didn’t work, and we were given only a very slow 2-burner hot plate to cook with. This made meal preparation very difficult, and given how much we paid, we should have had a true working stove. There were other small signs of poor maintenance, such as cracked outlet covers. The property, or at least unit 2, needs some TLC. Despite this, we had a very good time.

Beautiful view of the ocean out from our lanai. Had one of the best sleeps as the ocean waves lull you into a restful night. We had a massage in our rooms by Crissy, who was amazing and extremely skilled. Would recommend her to anyone seeking a relaxing full body message after a long day of hiking the trails of Hana.

My family spent one night in this hotel in April. We did the "road to Hana" during the day, and wanted to stay in Hana for one night before we headed back to Kaanapali. That was such a wonderful decision. The hotel was very neat and quiet. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The best of the best was the view on the balcony. Unlike Kaanapali where the beach was full of tourists and shops, the beach view from this hotel was tranquil, calm, and soothing. I regretted that we only stayed for one night. If I visit Maui again, I'll spend a few nights here.

Mahalo for staying with us! The location of Hana Kai makes it such a great choice. We overlook the south side of Hana Bay which is a rocky/sandy/pebble beach. It's still on the wild side, no facilities on the beach; great to explore and feel the ehukai (salty spray off the water) and hear the unique sound of the water washing over the pebbled shore break. From the lanai, guests enjoy the silver moonlight over the water and colorful sunrises...from your bed.

Beautiful rooms. They had everything and with got to see the sunrise on the brach every morning. Either from your room/lanai or even from the beach just right in front of it. We will recommend this hotel to everyone. If you arrive after 5pm, the keys will be in a locker. They also offer free parking on site

The Hana Kai Maui #204 was a perfect gem. I wasn't expecting how spacious and well furnished it would be. The staff at the front desk were so helpful. We arrived after the posted front desk hours, but luckily they were still there. They helped us find a place for dinner that night, as well as breakfast and lunch the next day. Hana is well worth a visit and an overnight stay (or more!). And it's a great location to start your day if you're heading to the Pipiwai Trail. I wish we had spent more time there.

Mahalo! We hear this comment so often! 2 or 3 nights is perfect for Hana. 1 night is better than nothing, but it's nice to have a full day in-between driving the Hana Highway and there is much more than meets the eye in terms of sightseeing, activities and beaches in Hana!

We debated if we wanted to stay in Hana or just drive up for the day. So we bit the bullet and said “let’s not just stay, but let’s stay 3 nights.” So glad we did and so glad we chose the Hana Kai. We had room 4, which was perfect for us….and what a great view! So friendly when we checked in and helpful when we needed ice. Great location, close to the food trucks and a quick drive to several beaches and Huli Huli Chicken. For a true Hawaiian experience on Maui, stay and enjoy the Hana area. So much to do and enjoy, and several great hikes in the State and National parks. And remember, you can’t go wrong at the Hana Kai Maui!

Mahalo! So many stay for just a night, but 2 or 3 nights is optimum. Spend a day in Hana without traveling the Hana Highway and you will have a better experience and really get the feel of Hana!
