We are so glad we decided to spend a night in Hana. We were greeted at the Hana Kai Maui with fresh flowers. Our room had an amazing open feeling. There were shutters between the bedroom and the living room area and also between the kitchen and lanai so you could serve breakfast directly from the kitchen. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. There was an unusable loft area; kiddos slept on hide-a-sofa (upper unit #204). Although pricey, I would love to enjoy this ocean front property for another day next time!
A lovely find. Uniquely decorated; somehow rustic and elegant at the same time. Beautiful inside and out. Quiet and calming. A nice retreat. Wish we could have stayed longer! It was everything we were hoping for.
We vacation annually in Maui but this was our first trip to Hana. I would recommend an overnight trip to make the drive more enjoyable. Hana is really about the trip because there is little to do once you are there. We stayed at the Hana Kai Maui overnight on the upper floor of the upper level block in an end unit. The unit was excellent, clean and roomy. It had a huge Lanai with a great view of the harbor, full kitchen, living area and bedroom. It appeared to have a lock-out style loft but we did not use it or view it. It has me planning another trip to Hana next year when we will stay in this unit for several days. If you are staying here there are some things you need to know. Proximity to the ocean makes everything a bit damp, the building is older and sound does travel. (Thank-you to other reviewers who recommended the upper level) The building has louvers to allow the winds to blow through and you get to listen to the waves crash all night, loved it. But you also get to hear traffic and other guests and every other sound. If you are a light sleeper you may have some troubles. Overall a very traditional Hawaiian accommodation and well worth the experience.…
The perfect place to stay in Hana. The grounds and rooms are great, and the view is perfection. We have also stayed at Travaasa, but Hana Kai is our favorite.....and about half the cost. Hana Kai no ka oi !
