So, there are not many places in stay in Hana, but I would highly recommend the Hana Kai Maui! We stayed in unit #107. At first glance the kitchen is slightly dated, but the bathroom is very modern and lovely. We were very comfortable here. The balcony was a highlight. The view of the black sand beach was incredible - we ate all of our meals on the balcony to enjoy this view! No a/c in the unit did not bother us. We had ceiling fans and a nice breeze at night. We were so glad that we decided to stay 2 nights in Hana. The area has so much to see and do, and it felt more peaceful than other areas of Maui for us. Next time we would even stay longer at the Hana Kai Maui!

Mahalo! Hana is peaceful, especially after everyone heads back to ʻthe othersideʻ. Many visitors during daylight hours but later in the day Hana reverts back to the sleepy little town we love.

After a long drive to Hana, this was a nice respite. Each condo is individually owned and furnished. We were in the above building since only staying one night. No tv or A/C. Didn't need the A/C with the slider open . Large lanai. We had all we needed. Hana is very quiet, so be prepared.

Thank you for noticing our Aloha Spirit!!! With our small property and just 17 units, we have the ability to be a little more personal in our interactions with guests which is not possible in many of the larger properties and we appreciate our guests!

Staying in Hana is a must! There is so much to do and waking up in Hana gives you a several hour head start over all of the day trippers to the popular spots. This property has great location to Waianapunapa beach, Haleakala National Park (Pipiwai trail is incredible), lava tubes, and much more! The property itself is amazing. We stayed in the Ka'ahumanu room which offered incredible ocean views and had smart layout planning that gives a dreamy master suite and lanai combo that make for spectacular sunrises and dreamy nights sleeping in the seabreeze and listening to waves crash. The black sand beach is also amazing (the small pebbles became fine sand as we walked down the beach). Parking and access to the room was convenient. While the staff and service is a bit hands off during COVID (my preference) they are very friendly and accommodating to any needs. My wife posted a few photos of our trip and over a half-dozen friends are now wanting to stay here and we fully recommend it!

It is true that staying in Hana give you the advantage of being the first to arrive at popular spots. Sleeping to the sound of the ocean at Hana Kai and waking to a Hana sunrise is in itself a wonderful experience. Waianapanapa State Park requires reservations now so please be aware of that and be sure to book your slot. You'll need at least 24 hours advance notice. This guest stayed in one of our oceanfront units, unit #5 (2 BR / 2BA). We also have oceanview and partial oceanview units available. Susie

A lovely room but as others have mentioned the rooms are not sound proof. I rarely write a review but I was soooo disappointed by their COVID check out procedure despite paying close to $500 for a night to stay. I felt they were not honest with their COVID check out procedure. In the registration email and a card in the room they claim that t they rest the room for 24 hours between check out and check in meaning no one enters. This means they want you to clean all the dishes, strip beds, put dirty towels and linens in a bag provided, and tie all the trash bags. We did all that despite paying such a high rate only to find out that we had not even checked out and had gone to black sand beach early morning. Upon our return at 9:30ish we found a cleaning person in our room cleaning and was upset to see us there. I showed her my keys and said we had not even checked out and technically the check out time is not until 11 am. I am writing this review because I felt the hotel is dishonest in their procedures so don't believe it. I won't ever stay there again... The check in staff was very nice and responsive. They were also very responsive when we emailed with questions. The overall rating is strictly due to their dishonesty. If they wanted me to do all the cleaning work they should have charged my half the rate like a condo.

We sincerely apologize for this oversight! We did not intend to deceive anyone. We had rested rooms between checkout for many months and phased this out as demand increased. I take full responsibility that our communications to guest had not been updated in a timely manner. Our checkout procedure asked that guests strip linens from the bed in an effort to reduce transmission of covid-19 due to the virus becoming airborne during this process. We were following CDC recommendations at the time this policy was put in place. During the room resting policy we also asked guests not to leave food or dirty dishes to avoid ants and other insects getting into units. We have updated our website and all guest communications to correct this oversight.
