Travelers' Choice

Huelo Point Lookout offers a four unique choices - one 2 bedroom/2 bathroom home (it's possible to rent just the top floor, Ocean Lookout, if you don't need all that space to rattle around in) and you also have your choice of 3 unique cottage style accommodations. We're very much for the alternative, independent type of traveler who loves the freedom of being able to prep his/her own meals and just relax into the island vibe (and saving a little money along the way).

We've been offering our 'aloha' since 1994, and are a legally permitted business (permit # BBPH 0015/2009) (TA-1-5-110-5280-01) so your reservation is always guaranteed to be secure.

This is Maui's north shore - the 'real' Maui, not just the 'hotel' version ... A perfect place to experience 'living' here, rather than just making a flying visit. Maui is gorgeous! Take the time to enjoy it!

Couldn't have picked a better spot. We were looking for seclusion and quiet in a rural setting and this place is exactly what we were looking for. Amenities were ip point, the welcome package was full of delicious goodies and Sharyn couldn't have been a more friendly soul. We loved our 5 nights there. If we go back to Maui, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you so much Sharyn!

Property's Favorite Review
After spending a few days on the south shore snorkeling for the "beach half" of our vacation, my wife and I stayed here for four nights for the "jungle half." It was incredible! It can be easy to feel like a clueless tourist on Maui (because, face it, you probably are!) but this quiet, peaceful corner allows you to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the prime tourist destinations - while still being minutes away from them! The place is a couple miles into the Road to Hana, so we felt especially smug about getting a head start on our Hana day trip to beat the heaviest of tourist traffic, and the drive back from Hana was much shorter than it would've been had we stayed elsewhere on the island, so that was a major perk! We also loved just relaxing in the private hot tub under the night sky (great stargazing), laying by the pool, and checking in on the chickens. Everything felt very private. Sharyn was extremely welcoming. This B&B is clearly very loved.

And we LOVED hosting you guys - total sweethearts! You pinpointed beautifully all the reasons we've chosen to be here 30 years now - so glad you love our location. For us, it's always been that ideal combination of having that 'away-from-it'all' feel but without actually BEING too far from the conveniences! We like to call it 'the real Maui' and consider ourselves blessed to be here. Come back again, ok? :)Sharyn & Jeff

We just got home from a girls trip out there and rented out the entire Lookout home. It was fantastic. The views cannot be beat, the location is perfect (a little off the beaten path but well worth it). Everything is within a 30 to 45 minutes drive including several amazing beaches, hikes off the road to Hana and cute towns with some cute shops. Sharyn and Jeff were beyond welcoming, they even told us not to buy eggs because their chickens were laying so we were supplied with amazing eggs and even homemade bread. There is plenty of room to spread out for families and a full kitchen with all the ameneties making it easy to eat at home. I'm already planning a trip back next year with my family. Don't forget to take advantage of the private hot tub on each property!

Are you the adventurous type? Maybe you’re looking for something other than a boring hotel room? Do you want the to live with the locals and get away from the tourists? Well get ready to fall in love with this gem! My wife and I stayed in the Haleakala cottage for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. We’re already itching to go back! First of all the property owner is charming, witty and lovely to talk to. She made us feel at home immediately. They provided us with some local fresh fruit, eggs, coffee, bread and others goodies. Wi-Fi works great and you’ll definitely need it out there! We loved the outdoor shower, it added to the island vibe experience. And really, don’t worry about it being an outdoor shower. The water was consistently hot and will keep you warm even on a cold late night with high winds and rain! Our first night there was a tropical storm passing by and we were fine! The private walk to the cliffs is a great place to sip your morning brew and take in some early views. The hot tub worked great too. We loved the Haiku area. You’re 4 miles into Hana Highway so it’s really easy to get to parks/trails from there. If you’re not in the mood to cook, nearby there are a bunch of great little towns with delicious food at reasonable prices. Also, gas prices are way cheaper on that side of the island. A word of caution, staying here will make you want to sell your house, quit your job and move to Maui.

Chris & Mandy were my perfect, fun guests - curious, independent and reallly 'got' our beautiful 'away-from-it-all' North Shore island vibe. What a pleasure to host them! (So feel free to sell your house, quite your jobs and move to Maui, right? :):):):):) Sharyn

Are stay was absolutely perfect. My wife and I live on Maui and thought we knew all the hidden gems. Huelo Point Lookout proved me wrong and exceeded all expectations. The attention to details was beautiful. We were lucky enough to stay for two nights and had one rainy day that gave us an excuse not to go out and adventure. By far the best vacation day we have had. We were able to enjoy the hot tub and view and all of the amazing amenities. A true tropical country Wonderland.

Always a pleasure to do something special for our 'kama'aina'! I love doing the same thing - i.e. exploring the beautiful island we're lucky enough to call 'home' - and we've lived her for over 30 years!!!

I absolutely cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! We absolutely loved it. It's an oasis in such a beautiful location! We stayed in the Lookout and waking up to the sunrise over the ocean every day was perfect. If you are one to sleep in, take an eye mask as this place lights up with the sun every morning. It's so nice to wake up with the warm golden sun on your face! It is definitely remote, but in the best way! We loved staying out this far and just built in the time to get back and forth from the location. Just plan for it, and you'll be so glad you did! We popped into Paia easily for breakfast and dinner - a nice beautiful drive. Go to Cafe Amis! :) The place had everything we needed and more - every detail was taken care of. A private hot tub under the stars after a long day of hiking cannot be beat! :) Sharyn left the perfect amount of snacks, eggs, bread and amazing fruit to keep us going when we needed it. Love the towel warmer and being able to do laundry! We would stay here again in a heartbeat - you'll be so glad you did!

Yes, we are 'remote' my dears - and indeed an 'oasis' in the midst of that. Great jumping off point for the road to Hana and all its beautiful waterfalls and bamboo forests, right So glad you enjoye your stay with us!! Do come back again!

We can't gush enough about this "hidden" oasis - it really is a bit of heaven. If you want to feel like the most spoiled last people on Earth, this is the place for you. Accommodations were homey and comfy (the dining room table which sitting at has you looking out over the ocean is itself a work of art!), facilities fantastic (more below on those), and hosts very warm and welcoming. Kiddo loved the pool, and the hot tub; Mr and Mrs have to agree with her. Access to some beach gear was a bonus for folks who travel light. We were fortunate to stay in the Ocean Lookout which is worth the extra money for the space and the stunning views. We encourage you to take the short walk to the cliff’s end to better appreciate the wonderful environs from which Sharyn and Jeff have created a truly special place to stay.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at this rental. The location feels very tucked away, but it's close to both Haiku town and Paia. It's also on the road to Hana, so some of the amazing things to explore are right around the corner. Close to the unit you can hike, get to Twin Falls, and see amazing views! We loved going to the lookout to see the ocean and the cliffs. The rental has everything you need and more. Sharyn is an incredible host. She provides some local treats and very special gifts that make you feel at home when you arrive. We love love loved the outdoor shower and hot tub, especially at night when you can see the stars. This was the kind of place you both want to come back to and want to recommend to all of your friends and family. 11/10!

What a gem! This beautiful location has been meticulously built and created in such a harmonious way that blends perfectly with the natural surroundings within and outside its premises. The views, THE VIEWS!!! Nothing can prepare you for such magnificence. The location is BEYOND magical, with vivid and vibrant 180+ degrees of splendour!!! Its host Sharyn was ALWAYS responsive, honestly and pristinely friendly; you can quickly tell she loves and enjoys to share the rejuvenating power this place has to offer. She automatically brought a level of comfort to my stay that blended beautifully with the cozy and tropical decoration inside and outside the lookout. Just so much gorgeousness all over! This is the place to encounter nature, serenity, and the greatest of positive island vibes. Perhaps with your loved ones, or simply with/by yourself, as I did. Honestly, this became a "medicinal" experience to my whole being... and I'll be ready for more. Mahalo.

Huelo Lookout Point is a little slice of heaven! Nestled in the North country jungle, this private house with your own hot tub and ocean views is perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary! The warmth and hospitality of the owners and staff is excellent and every item you need is there at your disposal. You are welcomed with the space adorned with flowers and they set you up with the basics like coffee, bread, and eggs in case you came in late… we have been here twice and each time it’s been a treasure of an experience! This location would also work for a family reunion because there are different accommodations all over this gorgeous property!
