Travelers' Choice

Huelo Point Lookout offers a four unique choices - one 2 bedroom/2 bathroom home and 3 cottage style accommodations. We're very much for the alternative, independent type of traveler who loves the freedom of being able to prep his/her own meals and just relax into the island vibe (and saving a little money along the way).

We've been offering our 'aloha' since 1994, and are a legally permitted business (permit # BBPH 0015/2009) (TA-1-5-110-5280-01) so your reservation is always guaranteed to be secure.

This is Maui's north shore - the 'real' Maui, not just the 'hotel' version ... A perfect place to experience 'living' here, rather than just making a flying visit. Maui is gorgeous! Take the time to enjoy it!

I could not say enough wonderful things about our Huelo Point Lookout experience. We checked in the day we got married in Hawaii and stayed in Star. What a charming, beautiful and immaculately clean little place!! There is so much thought put into each little detail of the house- from the unique paint on the walls and the bright/fun bedding to the beautiful plants and flower places all over the home- it’s an experience we won’t forget. There were little goodies left for us in the fridge to make it a bit more of a personal experience- my husband was able to make breakfast for us each morning with what was given to us. Sharyn was beyond accommodating during our stay and was very easy to get in touch with if we needed anything. She’s absolute wonderful and we’re so happy we had the chance to meet her! As far as location, the property is located a little ways into “The Road to Hana” so we felt like we had a jump start the day we drove that- which is a must see! The closest town is a great little hangout spot with all kinds of cute shops and places to eat- make reservations in advance if there are places you really want to eat- it can be tough to get in same day (during COVID)! We are movers on vacation- we like to see as much as possible and spend as little time as we can laying around hotels. If you are like this too, plan time to just be lazy at Huelo Point Lookout! We spent almost a whole day just taking in the breathtaking scenery and enjoying the experience- went in the hot tub, showered outside, laid in the hammock, walked to the cliff, slept in the day bed, sat on the back porch staring at the stars, etc. Don’t miss this place. If you’re thinking about it- just do it! Book!!

Rainbow lookout is a dream come true. Every little detail is so charming and heartwarming. We spent two weeks on Maui and the best three nights were spent here. It’s the perfect balance of secluded/private and still a short drive from many tourist hotspots. We made sure to spend one full day on the cottage property just relaxing and taking it all in. My fiancé checked his Apple watch just shortly after arriving and his heart rate had lowered to 35 bpm, while just sitting on one of the papasan chairs and listening to the sounds of tropical birds and soft rain. If you’ve had your share of stress and burnout during the pandemic and need a place to rejuvenate and inspire you, I highly recommend this place. I’ll never forget the nights in the hot tub looking at the stars, private days suntanning at the pool, the double rainbow during our first dinner, and the breathtaking sunrises. I never thought I was a morning person, but you can’t miss the sunrises here! This is the kind of place we dream of living in someday when we retire, but until that happens I can’t wait to stay here again on our next vacation!

It was so lovely to FINALLY meet you both, after having to cancel and reschedule from last year. Whew! So glad to hear that we provided the much needed healing, my dears ... thank heaven for our beautiful island, hmm? And Rainbow Lookout is particularly spectacular for those early morning sunrises and late night hot tubs. Blessings to you both, and please do come back again! :)Sharyn

My husband and I stayed for a 3 day stay at the Haleakala cottage. So private and romantic! We were greeted with flowers, fruit, wine, and bread upon our arrival. Our favorite parts were the outdoor shower and private hot tub. Highly recommend for a honeymoon stay!

We loved every minute of our stay at Huelo Point Lookout!!! Sharyn and Jeff warmly opened up their beautiful property to us and we were so appreciative. It was the perfect jumping off point for all our activities. We stayed in the lovely Haleakala Cottage. It provided the most heavenly and magical place for our second honeymoon. From the flowers all over the cottage to the outdoor shower, our own private hot tub, and a fridge full of extra treats, it couldn’t have been more romantic. We will definitely be recommending their property to all our friends and family, and we’re dreaming of when we get to return to this little oasis again!

The moment you pull into your parking area, especially in Star Cottage, you feel like you've stepped into your own piece of heaven. The flowery aroma that surrounds it will live with you forever and the amazing host will be the cherry on top. It does not get better than Huelo Point Lookout and we will only be staying here on our visits to Maui.
