What a magical and spiritual, healing place to connect with mother earth ! I am so grateful for the opportunity to visit this natural sanctuary and experience the most precious wilderness and beauty in Haiku Maui. I enjoyed a full week in this paradise and the home where i rented a room was like a exquisite temple! I will be back :~)

Staying at Maui eco-retreat was exactly what my partner and I were looking for and more. An off the grid retreat with all the comforts of home. We stayed in the Dolphin room and enjoyed the cooling trade winds at night and were greeted by the sunrise each morning. The property is beautiful and filled with communal energy. Located near the start of the road to Hana it has a feeling of old Hawaii, while being located a short drive to many beautiful attractions such as farms, zip lines, hikes, waterfalls, and beaches. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation close to nature, I highly recommend this unique rainforest gem.

If you want to get off the grid and be one with the island, away from tourists... then this is the place for you! This place is away from it all... or at least 20-50 min :) So if you're trying to do the touristy things on the other side of the island be aware it will be a drive (but this place is on the Road To Hana so at least that is close). And this is not a place you can Postmates breakfast, lunch or dinner. The closest restaurants/food trucks are about 20 min away. So I suggest you stop for some groceries on the way in... or there is the option to book the in-house chef to cook you up some meals. But if you decide to eat nearby I suggest Baked on Maui for coffee and breakfast, the shrimp tacos and chicken rolled tacos at the Shaka Taco truck, and the sauteed Snapper w/fries at the Paia Fish Market. I stayed in the Lotus room. It was a big room with a breath taking view of the ocean. There were other guests staying in the other 2 rooms but rarely saw them and the place is very quiet even with guests. And it was very safe. If you're wondering how do you share the community kitchen with other guests, each room has its own section to store food/drinks in the fridge and shelves. So no need to write your name on anything. The directions to the place may be a bit too much or confusing but it's really not that difficult. Once you pass Twin Falls you'll be close. The Waze app got me there with no problems. I also suggest you rent a Jeep because you will take a dirt road into the jungle to reach your beautiful paradise. And beautiful it is! Do the Ocean Trail hike along the coast to the top of waterfall. It's not that hard and is no more than an hour. And the views are Instagram worthy! Unfortunately because of the rains I didn't get to hike down to the beach and bottom of the waterfall (it was steep and muddy) but I hope to do it next time! So take in the sunrise (if it's not raining), enjoy the sounds of the ocean breeze kissing the bamboo trees, be hypnotized by the lush greenery and blue ocean views, and enjoy the calm and peace this place has to offer.

Being a guest on these lands was a special experience that healed from the inside out. The rooms are warm and decorated thoughtfully while the grounds themselves are a perfect balance between manicured and natural. The volunteer staff are all incredibly talented and dedicated, while the vision of the owners inspires and motivates. If you're lucky, the owners will share stories from their interesting endeavors and encounters. Hiking to both the top and bottom of the waterfall was spectacular and practicing in the yoga shala daily was healing. Come for the place itself, its history, lands and vision, not for luxurious rooms. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

This remote, peaceful, magical, tropical retreat is just wonderful. With private access to waterfalls, the dramatic North shore of Maui, and grounds dotted with beautiful structures and statues from across the Asian spiritual and design worlds, this is one of the most unique stays I have ever had. Don't miss this incomparable experience. Make sure to book the private chefs for a wonderful meal (and there will be leftovers!). The hiking is challenging, so bring good shoes. You won't have to fight the crowds that drive the Hana Highway to get the feel for this natural paradise with crashing waterfalls and beautiful gardens full of birds.

If you are looking to getaway and connect with yourself and with nature this is the place to do so. There are so many hidden gems around here if you take the time to explore. My husband, myself and our 2 year old traveled here for our intimate wedding ceremony, just the 3 of us. Kutira and Raphael performed the perfect ceremony for us. It was not generic or cliche , it was heart felt, and honestly everything we ever wanted in a ceremony. She even had one of the lovely women there help with our son during the ceremony. She was so sweet & so helpful. Gabe and Andrea cooked us the most delicious meals we had while on island. Fresh & Farm to Table. You can tell their food was made with so much love. It was a such a pleasure connecting with them. The stay itself was lovely. You are about a 30 min drive from any stores or beach & i recommend a car with 4WD to get there.

Where do I begin with this review? Let’s start with how beautiful this place is! The pictures do not do it any justice at all. It almost felt surreal to be in such a peaceful and beautiful place. It is definitely a different experience that I am used to when I travel. It is very private, opposed to being in the areas with a lot of tourists. If you are looking to get away from the crowds and go where you can enjoy nature and all of its beauty and energy, then this is the place for you. Keep in mind you are in nature, so expect everything nature has to offer, like geckos and insects. The place has screen and glass doors, so you can keep the insects to a minimum. There is hot water, reliable internet, a fridge, stove, pots, pans, toaster oven, coffee makers (a couple of them), basic spices (if you decide to cook), and filtered well water, so your basic needs are met. Although there is no A/C, there is always a cool breeze blowing that keeps your room cool during the day and night. The place is only 20-30 minutes from restaurants and grocery stores. They were close in distance, but the speed limit was mainly 15mph. So, expect to just cruise and enjoy the scenery as you drive for food. If you choose to stay on the property you can hike to the waterfall and ocean. The hike to them are a bit difficult, so bring some hiking shoes and gloves to help grip the ropes on the steep terrain. Although my wife and I made it to both locations, we struggled, but felt rewarded when we reached our destinations. Lastly, the host and staff were very friendly, helpful, and communicative. They give you your privacy, but respond quickly when you need them. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and my wife and I look forward to our next visit there.

What absolutely LOVED our stay at Maui Eco Retreat during August 2021. We are a family of three, which includes a 6-year-old. We stayed in Thai Hale. On previous vacations we've stayed at large resorts and this time we wanted something different. MER is definitely different in so many amazing ways. It is quiet, secluded, personal, and incredibly beautiful. It’s adventurous; you will not believe how incredible the Ocean Trail hike is (the first of several amazing overlooks is only about a 5 minute walk through the woods), and how cool the waterfall hikes are. You have access to all of this, WITH NO CROWDS. We had no need to stop at any waterfalls on the Road to Hana because we had one way bigger on the property. Thai Hale was magical. We loved the outdoor shower (another adventure), and you cannot beat the wrap-around lanai overlooking the Pacific. Staff at MER were friendly, helpful, and completely respected our privacy. It is a place with purpose, maintained with great care and respect. We did yoga three of the days were there and instructors were great. Our daughter really enjoyed it as well. MER is not for everyone. But if you are looking for something more out-of-the-way, adventurous, relaxing, re-invigorating, and embedded in the incredible beauty of Maui, you need to check this out. It was the best vacation we’ve ever had.

If you want to get away from the noise and feel Maui, not just see it, then this is the place to stay. You will feel like you are in your own private part of Maui surrounded by nature and views of the ocean and beautiful sunrises, and the night sky is just amazing. The staff is always available, friendly and just very welcoming.

Hello! Newlywed here. So my husband and I spent the most amazing 10 days at this beautiful place for our honeymoon, The Eco Maui Retreat. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise and birds chirping each morning, with the view of the ocean was everything. It reminded us both to ground ourselves and bring us back to the present moment. Shout out to, the queen of the land Kutira and her husband Raphael(the owners) you are both amazing humans. Thank you Kutira for sharing your stories with us, you are a true inspiration sharing a bit on your journey and what you have built is incredible. Raphael, Thank you for your amazing shamanic nights, that was definitely on the top of my favorite things to do while being there. My husband and I both enjoyed it so much, we are still talking about it. You have taught us so much in such little time, we appreciate it very much. Also, thank you to William for the excellent customer service, Alex for sharing your beautiful energy with us, and all the other volunteers for making our stay an extra special one. This place and the people inspired us to bring a little piece of paradise with us, we are creating a meditation room in our house in UT and applying inspiration from the aesthetic of the yoga room. Thank you so much for everything, see you guys in the future cause I will be going back for more shamanic nights😉
