Be very careful about booking here and giving them a one night deposit because they will not return it if you need to cancel. I was not informed at time of booking. The confirmation you receive via email highlights a 30 day cancellation policy. At the very bottom of the confirmation under “guarantee “ it is stated your deposit is non refundable no matter when you cancel. It is extremely easy to overlook this policy where it is placed in the confirmation and under the “Guarantee” section. I had to cancel 2 months in advance and lost my $350. I think this is very unethical

We stayed our first night on Lanai and the Hotel Lanai before heading over to The Four Seasons. After reading all the TripAdvisor reviews I was a little apprehensive- and was grappling with how the rates could start at $250 on weekdays and $300 on weekends. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The hotel closed in May, 2018 for a 7 month top to bottom renovation so ALL of the prior reviews are essentially reviewing a different hotel. It looks like I am the first reviewer since the hotel reopened just before Christmas, 2018. The rooms have been gutted and fully renovated. We reserved the less expensive garden room. Our room #3 was compact with just a queen bed but the 9-10 foot ceilings made it so it did not feel cramped. It featured every possible high tech feature - starting with an electronic display panel to control the lights, shades, climate control etc. The bathroom features a $2,000+ Toto bidet/toilet combo. The lid lifts automatically when you approach and it flushed, cleans itself and closes the lid when you are done. High end amenities and beautiful tile work completed the bathroom. Our room also featured a gigantic smart TV (at least 60”, maybe 70”). The bed had high end linens and a great/pricey mattress. If we were staying longer I would opt for the larger/more expensive room. This room had limited space to unpack but we were just living out of our suitcases for the one night. We also had dinner at the restaurant - it was another pleasant surprise and one of our best meals so far in Hawaii. There was also live entertainment (Friday and Saturday nights). The menu was very creative and reasonably priced. The included continental breakfast was a nice spread that included eggs, thick cut bacon and potatoes as well as fried rice in addition to the usual selection of continental items. Service was friendly and professional. We had no issues with noise - our room was quiet. We stayed here because we were arriving after 7pm on Lanai and I wasn’t in the mood to spring for another $1,000+ for an extra night at The Four Seasons. I had very low expectations based on the other TripAdvisor reviews. As you can see I was wowed and I would highly recommend this hotel for a longer stay - but understand it is a duty hotel and has no resort amenities.

I really loved the small-scale motel w/its trendy/modern decor. From the moment we arrived the hostess was very hospitable & made us feel welcome. It was Memorial Day & the restaurant was closed yet she brought out muffins and coffee for us while we sat in the lobby awaiting our room to be readied! Loved the modern decor including Toto toilets. The bed was super comfortable! Heavenly! The hotel is close to town & theatre. Wonderful location! The next morning we dined on the outdoor patio surrounded by the tall Cook Island Pine trees. There were large, modern, over-sized floor lamps and white string lights, too. It would have been lovely to dine there during the evening, as well. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

This hotel definitely captures the “old Hawaii” feel, while having the amenities and luxurious extras of a four seasons resort. Fully renovated, the hard wood flooring and “smart” features really make this place feel high class. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. On weekends, this hotel features different artists from other islands playing acoustic music in the restaurant, which is a whole other highlight of this hotel. A frequently changing menu, the restaurant features delicious entrees much of which is cooked with locally grown produce. The hotel is located directly above the main town, that has several restaurants and a the islands only grocery store. All in all, this hotel was an amazing and peaceful stay, very convenient. Will definitely stay here again!

I stayed in Hotel Lanai for the other month and it was great! The place was recently renovated (still smelled like new paint in some places) and it is apparent there was a lot of attention to detail in the selection of the artwork, materials, furnishing ... even the restaurant was excellent! A place to get gourmet meals on Lanai! Got inside and outside dining seating. Upon check-in by the friendly staff, they walked me to my room, gave me my complimentary chocolate chip cookie (really good), and showed me how to operate all the fancy controls. Everything electronically and remotely controlled. 2 type shades (sheer and solid), lighting, climate control... all from a panel just inside the door. My only complaint is that it would be nice if there was a more easily reachable light control when lying on the bed. Some rooms got a lanai but regretfully I was not one of those lucky ones. The lanais got stairs going down to some nice walking paths, and there is a fire pit (I did not get to check it out in the evenings), but looked nice! Bed was comfy, big ... somehow too big (and high) in a way! It pretty much filled up the room, so there wasn't any space to put a nice chair to sit and relax. TV was huge and probably heaven for TV lovers. But for myself, I turned it on once as I'm not much of a TV person. Bathroom was nice, walk in shower ... and an automatic toilet that opens up when you walk up to it, complete with seat warmer and bidet (if you choose to use it)! The hotel is just at the end of the main drag in Lanai City. Stores and restaurants all within 3-5 minute walking distance. Gas station a 2 minute drive from the hotel. Parking is right outside the hotel and they did not charge any extra for that. There is a breakfast buffet that was really good. Portugese sausage, other meats, potatoes, rice, fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals, bagels, bread & toast, coffee, hot water & tea, fruit juices ... so a nice variety! A very nice (and much cheaper) option right in Lanai City as compared to the $1,000/night room rate quoted for Manele ! Would definitely stay here again!
