One of the most beautiful hotels you'll ever stay at, and the location cannot be beat. There is no where else in the world quit like Princeville, Kauai. We've stayed here a number of times, unfortunately it seems the service up to the same standards during out last stay. Overall, it was still an enjoyable trip.

Upon stepping out onto the hotel terrace it is hard to imagine such a perfect landscape exists. The towering Kauai mountains and the gorgeous Pacific below both meld into the most serene scene I can imagine. This setting is absolutely stunning and I can't wait to see the hotel after the renovation. Not sure how they can improve, but I am eager to find out!

We stayed at this resort during the worst of times. This was Mid-March just as the Virus pandemic was starting to get real in Kauai. We had rented a house in Heana through VRBO and due to a flash flood in Hanalei we got stranded on the opposite site of the bridge from our rental. We were with our two sons and had nowhere to stay and none of our belongings. We walked into the Princeville Resort to see if they had rooms available and they did! The wonderful lady at the front desk set us up in a high floor ocean view room that was outstanding for the same price as a standard room. The room was large, well appointed, and the view was out of this world! We used the pool, coffee shop, and beach while we stayed and loved every single minute. The most wonderful pool I have ever experienced! A scary horrible situation with our kids turned out to be a wonderful over the top luxury side trip. Thank you to this resort for helping us turn Lemons into Lemonade

DO NOT STAY HERE My husband and I stayed here for 1 night celebrating our anniversary. This was a splurge for us as it was almost 700 a night for a suite and a view. We were absolutely disgusted. I visited this property years ago when it was the St. Regis. The positive reviews are from when it was a different company. The bed was stained, the room appeared dirty, and there were bugs. When we checked in I knew something was lacking from the service. Our room number was written on a post it when we checked in. The front desk said it was a “green” hotel now. We immediately checked in the room and went straight to the pool. The pools looked gross, not from what I remember. At 7 pm or so all lights are turned off outside. We received a message it was due to protecting the wildlife. We’ve stayed at many hotels in Hawaii and have never heard of such a thing. I feel it was a tactic for the hotel just to save money on electricity. The hotel workers all seem sad and grumpy. I actually asked one employee what happened to the hotel and they told me “management is trying to save money so we are working on a skeleton crew, the hotel is operating at bare minimum”. I have traveled to many places, honestly this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed at 1 star hotels for work.

All the recent negative reviews are very misleading. Don't let a little chipped paint deter you. This was by far the best 5-star hotel experience I have had. The hotel was very grand and opulent feeling and the views were amazing. There were so many details often ignored or overlooked by other 5 star hotels. The brunch was fantastic! The concierge Minda was awesome! Very know legible and helpful. The room and hotel was very clean and the service was impeccable perhaps it was partly due to the fact that it was not very busy due to covid-19. I strongly recommend staying on the north end of the island as it is much much better and less crowded and touristy than the south end were most of the hotels are. The town of Princeville and Hanalei were really quaint with lots of mom and pop stores. It truly had an island feeling compared to other resort areas in Hawaii.

My wife and I started our Hawaiian vacation at the PR. Little did we know that the resort was sold and to be closed for renovations in about a month or so. This gave us a little of a downer as we were told that they were a little short staffed as some had left and certain things would not be available like the pool bar and grill (but it was open during our stay). We noticed that the resort has seen better days with deferred maintenance and dated amenities. That aside, the resort is located on the beach with nice views of the ocean, mountains, waterfalls, and sunsets. A couple of slight bugaboos was that they did not have accessible ice makers. You needed to call to have ice delivered. Second is they only have valet parking. This resort will be 5 star once renovations are completed and most likely be a much higher price than we paid.

This resort is absolutely the most beautiful location in all of Hawaii, and maybe the best location of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in worldwide. The view is spectacular. That said, the hotel is closing next month for renovation, and the cracks show prominently. I wasn’t sure whether to believe some of the reviews, but they’re true. The rooms are date and musty. The staff are complacent- it’s like saying in a 2 star hotel, with a 5 star view. The food is fine, but way, way, way overpriced. They are so understaffed, the valet attendants left “unexpectedly”, there was no one at the pool’s towel hut for two days, and the bar staff cannot possibly keep up, and don’t seem to care. The spa is not very well appointed, with very few amenities and extremely overpriced services. I’m sadly disappointed I didn’t follow others’ advice and save some money to stay somewhere else and just stop by for a drink on the terrace to take in the view. I’ll be excited to return once the location reopens under new management with renovations.

The Princeville Resort was previously a St. Regis resort and soon to close for renovations which it is in bad need of. It is still very glamorous with high end shops in the lobby. Views from here are great. Great Pool and Beach area with great views of Hanalei Bay.

From the moment you enter the lobby, the overwhelming view is the ocean. A local Hawaiian musician is playing the piano singing in her native tongue. You are on the northern part of the island with peaks soaring 3,000 ft. Lumahai is the infamous beach below where “South Pacific” was filmed. Be sure to rent the film while you are there...it is such a part of their heritage. Taking boat excursions is the way to explore the many water caves below and if Golf is your game, great Princeville Resort golf, complete with wild roosters.
