The grounds were beautiful. However, most of the amenities weren't available. No restaurant, bars, hot tubs, shuttle, or daily housekeeping. It's odd for a $600/night resort. We were passed our cancellation window before we found out about these policies. Our room said "island view" but don't expect an ocean view. You'll have to drive away from the resort to reach a beach. Unlike other Westin hotels we have stayed at, this one is more like a condo/timeshare. It's very difficult to get a taxi or uber to the airport since very few serve the north side of the island these days. The resort didn't offer a shuttle service. If you can find one, get a rental car. Also, there's a $20/day parking fee.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize that your stay did not go as expected. We are currently operating with state and local restrictions related to the pandemic, but we strive to ensure all our guests enjoy their stay. Although the cost of our property is higher than some, you are correct that we are a vacation ownership destination, and we hope to host you again after we return to normal operations so you can enjoy our resort to the fullest.

This was our second visit to the Westin Ocean Villas in Princeville. We came as part of their Vacation Club (timeshare) Package. We attended the presentation but did not buy since we already own a timeshare with another vacation club. The presentation was informative but we knew going in that a purchase of a Westin/Bonvoy package would probably not be happening this trip. The last time we stayed here, we were able to upgrade to a great ocean view room. This time, we were told that no upgrades were available even though we were ready to pay upgrade fees. We still were able to enjoy the resort even though our view was less than average. We have always loved the look and feel of the Westin. The pools are very good we really enjoy the infinity pool closest to the ocean cliffs. If you are there during the summer months, know that all the pool chairs will be taken early. The rooms as expected were very comfortable. The Westin Heavenly Beds are among the best in the hospitality industry. The biggest downsides of this visit is that the resort appeared it was not 100% prepared to open post-Covid lockdowns. Guessing it was due to staffing opportunities. None of the restaurants or pool bars were open and there was very limited maid service. The resorts we stayed at or visited on the southside had all restaurants and pool bars open. Not sure why the Westin could not get theirs going, but we did adapt to the limitations since we know that the island faced bigger Covid restrictions than where we travelled from. One other thing we noted that mgt might want to hear is that the customer service displayed by the staff walking around was not as good as our last stay. My wife and I are both in the customer service field and know what it means to treat your guests in such a way that they feel special every time they come in contact w/ your employees. A simple smile or greeting usually does this. We received some warm smiles and "Aloha's" from some of the staff, but we were simply not acknowledged by others as we passed them. Again, may be due to many being new to the team and were getting their feet wet. Greeting every person you come in contact with is a must in our eyes. Just a thought. Anyway, thanks for making our return to Kauai after a couple of years memorable.

I haven't checked in yet -- but I'm already dreading my stay. Our cancellation window is tomorrow. This evening, we received an email from the concierge with a list of all the services they will *not* provide when we check in 2 weeks from now. We knew hot tubs were closed. Fine. The spa is closed. Okay. But no housekeeping. No housekeeping. Somehow they didn't bother to mention that when we made the reservation. In fact, Marriott boasted up one side and down the other about all the special cleaning precautions they're taking. But they couldn't be bothered to mention that we'll spend a week in a dirty room while paying full prices. We debated long and hard about whether to rent a condo or go to a hotel. Why did we choose a hotel? Because of the sheer pleasure of coming back to your room and finding it sparkling clean. But Marriott/Westin could be bothered to mention that they're not providing that service. And they waited till we have less than 24 hours to try to find an alternative. In the meantime, the concierge at the hotel has sent us endless emails about activities on the island, local restaurants, sites to see -- but didn't bother to mention, oops, you'll be in a dirty room starting on Day 2 of your very expensive stay. Motel 6 can provide housekeeping. But Marriott is playing a dirty trick like this. I am not impressed, Marriott/Westin. As both a Bonvoy and HHonors member, Hilton is looking very, very good right now. And you are not. (They also failed to mention, by the way, plenty of other services that they promise on the website and are not providing. Very uncool, Marriott. Please tell me why anyone should trust you for hospitality ever again?)

First impressions were fine but after finding out the restaurant was closed and no bar at all meant that NO services were available and VERY few if any local restaurants made this not such a good vacation. The buildings are in fine shape and the grounds are well kept. The overall service from the staff was of Westin Standards, but the gym was NOT of Westin Workout Standards and a big disappointment. There is not much to do on the Princeville side of the island so the resort should step up, unfortunately the Westin does not.

The resort is situated in a large property with beautifully maintained landscaping and plenty of room between buildings. Room was spotless bed comfortable all typical Marriott. The kitchen unit was fully equipped. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus if are here for more than a few days and only have a carry on. There are three pools with ample seating. If you want a lap pool you have to make a reservation and drive to the golf course near by. While we were there gym, spa etc were closed due to Covid. One big negative was the total lack of food on the property. Not only was the restaurant and bar closed but even the small on site market. This meant the only option was the local supermarket. It is close to a mile away but well stocked when you get there. The decision to keep the on-site food market closed was a corporate one not due to Covid restrictions. We were told that there are plans to open it later in May. Another slight downside of the resort is the lack of beach access. In order to get to a beach you can walk down a steep muddy road (not recommended by the resort) or drive a couple of miles. Views of the ocean and coast line are lovely as you are high up on the cliffs. A problem unique to our room at the ocean end of unit 7 was the extremely noisy equipment just below the room. It was about like living on a busy road running night and day. A roof over the unit would have helped a lot. You could also hear it a the infinity pool close by. Not the lovely peace and quiet one hoped for.
