We stayed here twice. The first time we stayed in room 1 and it had a kitchenette with a small frig, microwave and toaster . A king bed and 2 singles which were decorated nicely with colorful bedspreads. The second time we stayed in Rm 17 which just had a king bed and a small frig. . We asked the staff to borrow a toaster and a few dishes and were able to use a microwave in the registration area. The staff, particularly Allison, and Sara, were very nice. Rosalinda did a fine job cleaning the rooms also. We would definitely stay here again because it is close to the airport .
We stayed here 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff are amazing and Ron, the general manager, is a true gem. If you get a chance, ask for Ron to “ talk story” with you. You can find out the history and legends of Kaua’i along with seeing many interesting artifacts. You will also hear about many fascinating sites to visit during your stay. We learned so much about Kaua’i and the Hawaiian islands. Ron was entertaining and very knowledgeable and kept us engaged and interested. Hotel room is vintage, is very clean and has everything you need. We were able to drop our suitcase off early and explore the island the day we arrived. Lots of people here from different European countries during our stay. Great food options a couple blocks away and the brewery even has 4 ounce sample sizes so you can try several of their different beers in one sitting. Thanks Ron for imparting some of your knowledge to us. We loved our stay and hope to be back again. Mahalo!…
The best thing about this hotel is Ron, the owner. He gives free talks on the history and culture of Kauai in a super relaxed environment, answering questions and showing artifact replicas of traditional implements. He is friendly, funny, and very interesting. I would have paid for this talk. The aesthetic of the building is maintained in the 1950s style, the time period in which the structure was built. All the staff were very sweet and friendly. Our room had a kitchen and was clean, charming and affordable. The location is perfect to explore downtown Lihue on foot, less than a block away from the brewery. Staying at Kauai Palms was one of the highlights of my trip, I couldn't recommend it more. Mahalo, Ron and the rest of the staff!!
We stayed here 2 nights after our timeshare week was up. We stayed in a "cottage" that supposedly had a kitchenette...it was a closet with door removed and a small fridge, coffeemaker, microwave and a portable electric burner. The bed was a full sized in a room 9 feet by 10 feet. They put a high top cabaret table and 2 chairs in the corner which was useless...we stored our luggage on the table and chairs as there was no where else to put it. The bathroom, shower and "kitchenette" were in a hallway that was 3 feet by 10 feet. The bed was so bad that my wife and I couldn't stay on our own side because the mattress rolled us into the middle of the bed. The wall at the head of our bed was shared with another unit. We could hear people in the other unit as if there was no wall between us. We made it work but it was not worth $470 for 2 nights...even in Kauai! The hotel is on a side street so it was relatively quiet and it felt safe. Staff was friendly! There was a small informal Hawaiian restaurant (Hamura Saimin) around the corner...the food was very good!…
In the middle of d/town Lihue. Cosy but EXPENSIVE. Our one night stay was in a very, very small room costing over $200USD a night Dec 29 2022. We were here 1 night prior to our check in at our other resort. Free coffee in the mornig, very good. Ron gave us a 2 hour history of Kauai and Hawaii.
Happy accident or “meant to be?” We were booked at an AirBnB in Princeville for my son’s 18th birthday trip. The Southwest operations failure of late December caused us to miss those dates/stay and come 5 days later. I happened on the Kauai Palms on Priceline, somewhat skeptical about location but booked on good faith. We were booked to stay Tuesday- Thursday but realizing once we arrived on Kauai Sunday that the location was perfect for home base as we explored the gorgeous Garden Isle, we ventured to extend our stay. Ron, the manager and Mango the cat greeted us at the office and made us feel at home, first in a cottage then to a room for the remainder of our stay. Local food recommendations and well researched manager’s “talk story” and artifacts of HI history add to the experience and charm. In my opinion, so much better than a bland, cookie cutter “resort.” The area is lovely to walk around (county Building decorated with Christmas lights and building murals)…opportunities to support local business always a plus. Cats and chickens add to the local feel. We were able to reach all our destinations within 2 hours of the hotel and head out ready and refreshed each day.…
Kauai Palms hotel was a great stop, the rooms are cosy, yet provide enough space and comfort. The place was very clean and it had all basic utilities. However the biggest reason to stay if you want to immerse in Hawai'i, is Ron - the general manager. Ron is a treasure trove of Hawaiian history and culture. He is a kind, fun and humble man with a passion for sharing the story of the islands. He showed us what true aloha means! A wonderful storyteller, he spent many hours with us enriching our impressions with stories of the beautiful Hawai'i, the history which uncovers so much more to this incredible place, the centuries long balance between the land and the people. We came back to hear more every evening and saw and loved the island from a deeper perspective than most. He's one of the people we'll always remember from our long trip - and we are so grateful to have been his guests! We sincerely hope to meet again in the future and Kauai Palms will be our first stop back on the Garden isle! Mahalo nui loa, Ron! …
5 stars: This star rating applies to Ron, the property manager. He really cares about the history and culture of Kauai. Please ask for him at the front desk to understand how the island came to be. Understanding the local context and stories helped us make sense of what we saw and even discovered a few non touristy gems that we would have missed otherwise. The tour is free and Ron is entertaining. Even if you dont care about the history, enjoy his jokes. 3 stars: This star rating applies to the property itself. Pre check in - smooth and fast communication regarding reservation change requests Checkin - smooth and easy, the person checking me in was courteous, if not friendly. Stay - we asked for cleaning service around halfway through the stay, the floors were still dirty (perhaps they lacked cleaning staff), toilets were clean though, bed was made. Roosters in the morning is a problem for light sleepers. Kauai is ruled by roosters, so submit to their sleep schedule. Perhaps the property can find ways to deter roosters in the property compound Parking - first come, first serve - wasn't a problem (extra parking is inside the compound) Checkout - There is a dropbox. The person checking me out was downright rude in making her request to have me drop the keys in there. Overall - Id stay here again, just for Ron!…
I would like to give this Hotel a good review as they staff were very good in answering questions prior to our stay. Unfortunately, the room wasn't great. I booked this hotel as it was close to the airport and we were arriving very late and needed somewhere for just one evening before picking up the rentalcar. The room was clean but very small the air conditioner was extremely loud so couldn't have it on, the beds weren't all that comfortable, although there were coffee cups in the room, there wasn't any coffee, roosters, which are common on the island, sounded like they were right outside the door Would I stay here again....no.
Very clean, comfortable and well maintained. We needed a place for a couple nights until our timeshare was ready, and this fit the bill perfectly. Centrally located. A very nice choice for those on a budget.
