Very similar to the several third world countries I have visited with soldiers giving orders to visitors at the airport and military patrolling the streets. Government policies change regularly to the point websites aren’t up to date. The hotel and government sites direct viewers to the other in a “Do” loop. Plan $1000 in a couple’s budget for COVID testing and government/hotel monitoring. Plan to be disappointed that the hotel staff does not care to help with the bureaucracy. In my case, I studied all the websites and called the hotel three times before arriving; thought I had done everything right but my cellphone is not compatible with their monitoring system so I am being held against my will in my room with no room service. Stagnation working on my edema so I begged to use the fitness center. Hotel staff told me to jog in place in my room. Aloha spirit is dead. There is a reason for the word ‘haole’. The focus of the government and hotel is to keep COVID off the island and they are accomplishing this at the expense of our civil liberties. Wish I asked for details on the government gps monitoring system beforehand.…
Jennie Waiwaiole-Vega , General at Kauai Shores Hotel, Kauai is an amazing, caring , hospitable manager! This dear lady went far above and beyond in serving my husband and me during a 2 day stay awaiting the clearance of our COVID tests. The 2nd day when our negative test came through she helped us communicate to State of Hawaii through phone media emails for roughly 2 hours to release us and check us out. She was so patient, kind, and fully focused My husband, 69 and myself, 67 newlyweds came to Kauai to retrieve our postponed honeymoon. Jennie, you set the stage for a beautiful memorable time in Kauai! Thank you so so very much!
Everything was modified with the COVID rules but still a good trip. Quite without a lot of guests and had to plan ahead to find a place to eat. Facility is very nice and staff was very helpful, will be returning once the restrictions go away and we can enjoy more.
The toilets in 4 rooms were so nasty with the black light. I had to clean them myself and the white towel was yellow! Omg it’s nasty here. Wth with this Covid stuff? Clean you place! Disgusting! They should pay my tax for cleaning those rooms! Sadly I am here for another month with having to change rooms again and again! I have to clean more. It’s sickening.
As of Nov. 2020, the the Kauai Marriott Resort is basically staffing like a Courtyard hotel... there is no food service, no bell men, limited housekeeping service, and a shortage of other staff in all areas. The hotel rooms themselves feel a bit dated, but take away the services, and this hotel is currently a very poor value.
