I had high hopes for Marjorie's based on the stellar reviews, but the experience even blew my expectations away. This was the best place we have ever stayed. We wanted to stay somewhere that didn't feel super touristy and gave us a true feel for the island, and this is it! The view is spectacular, the room (we stayed in Trade Winds) was spotless and charming, and the location was very convenient yet far enough away to feel isolated and unique. The pool and hot tub were wonderful and tucked within the jungle. Great stars at night! We also had two of the best breakfasts of all time here.

Alexis and Mike are incredible hosts and were so helpful to answer any questions we had about what to do, and were so fun to talk to. We also appreciated being able to borrow beach towels, beach chairs, bug spray, etc.

We would absolutely return and would recommend Marjorie's to anyone!

My husband and I stayed with Alexis & Mike for a week over Christmas. Even without realising it was going to be the last holiday we would take for the foreseeable future, we were absolutely blown away. The inn itself is cozy, well-appointed and set into a hillside with a gorgeous view of an ancient healing valley. We awakened every morning to birds singing, lush rainfall (it was an exceptionally rainy December!) and rainbows.

Every day except for Sunday (when you get a picnic basket delivered to your room), Alexis & Mike serve up the best homemade breakfast you will ever have, usually buffet style but occasionally plated. The breakfast alone really put Marjorie’s Inn at the top of our list; it was such a blessing to start each day with a beautiful meal and sometimes sandwiches or snacks for later in the day. You will not find a better breakfast at any restaurant or hotel on the island.

The location on the south shore is conveniently located between north and west, so was ideal for us to explore the entire island without having to drive more than an hour or two in either direction. We spent everyday out adventuring (our hosts graciously helped us plan out our days and made excellent recommendations based on our needs). Should you choose to spend a restful day closer to home base, the inn is restful, gorgeously landscaped and has a lovely saltwater pool, hot tub and gazebo for your enjoyment.

Our week with Alexis & Mike was one of the best vacations of our lives. We truly felt like part of the family. Kauai one of the most beautiful places on earth. We soaked up every moment of our time on the island. This is a rare spot not to be missed. We can not recommend Marjorie’s Inn highly enough and look forward to the day when we can visit again.

This bed and breakfast is off the beaten tourist path but a quick drive to Koloa and Poipu. We absolutely loved our stay. The home is beautiful with a stunning view of the valley. We stayed in the Trade Winds room and it was comfortable and clean. There is a small fridge, kettle, coffee pot, dishes, and sink in the room for use. Everything else that you need during your vacation is available for use (chairs, ice packs, cooler, etc). Alexis has an eye for detail and quality and really there was nothing missing. The residence is well taken care of. We used the pool and hot tub area a couple of times and had it to ourselves. The breakfast was fresh, delicious and homemade. Alexis is a wonderful cook and accommodates dietary needs. She takes hospitality to a whole new level. This was our second time to Kauai but first time to Marjorie's. If we return to Kauai we will definitely book another stay here.

I am delighted to review Marjorie's Kauai Inn owned by Alexis and Mike from Chicago (my husband's hometown)! Lovely people who obviously love what they do. It shows every day. The property is absolutely gorgeous. Saltwater pool is fantastic, plus they have a little tea house to sit in near the pool. The food, the food! This is truly the definition of a real bed and breakfast. Alexis makes everything herself, from bread to eggs, from tarts to extra special fluffy pancakes. We stayed for 13 days and never had the same thing twice. Every single thing was absolutely delicious and inspired. I gave Alexis 5 stars to new guests every time we met someone. Mikes cappuccino's should be patented. Perfection in a cup. They are exceptional hosts and I give them all the stars in the world. The rooms were very nice with all the necessary bathroom items one would need and plenty of room to unpack your suitcases and room for you clothing in the dressers and closets. In addition, Alexis and Mike provided snacks in a community fridge for everyone to help themselves. Bread, lunch meat, sodas and beer were available for anyone to pack a lunch or grab something to eat during the day and evening. Our experience was the best to put it simply. We are now looking forward to visiting their Costa Rica house this next year followed by another trip to Marjorie's on Kauai. No other place on the island can possibly compare.

My newly wed husband and I stayed at Marjorie’s during our 7 day honeymoon on Kauai. We had the best time! The rooms were beautiful with the absolute most stunning view! We stayed while Jim was hosting and he cooked the most excellent breakfasts in the morning. We enjoyed our conversations with Jim and later Alexis when she arrived back in town. They were both super accommodating. They have a garage full of everything you could need for the beach that you’re able to use, a fridge stocked with drinks, snacks, and even stuff to pack a little lunch! We had a really late flight that left at 10 PM after we had to check out. Alexis was so sweet in letting us keep our luggage there and hang around the property, including letting us shower after returning from the beach. This place is definitely dreamy. We had such a great time and hopefully will be back!

Beautiful setting in the Lawai valley, convenient to the south and west sides. Set on a quiet residential street , the setting is beautiful with spectacular views, beautiful flowers and many many birds. Rooms are small but very comfortable and thoughtfully laid out with very nice covered lanai strategically placed to capitalize on the wonderful views.
Hosts are helpful, flexible and unobtrusive.
We were there in February of 2021, so Covid restrictions prevented breakfast service but hope to return in the future to experience that!

I don’t even know where to begin. From the breathtaking views, incredible meals, generous hospitality and the feeling of behind “home”…Marjorie’s Inn captured my heart and I can’t wait to go back. My father who is notoriously critical on bed and breakfasts couldn’t find a flaw with our stay. It’s quiet, clean, scenic, houses everything you could need for a week (laundry, extra shoes, poles, sunscreen, safety supplies, books, movies, stocked fridge, flowers, daily cleaning staff, etc) and you’ll find yourself wanting to spend an evening on your patio from the hot tub or pool watching the sunset. It’s a magical, life changing stay. Alexis, Mike and our private chef, Tiffany gave us the stay of a lifetime. Our trip was exponentially better because of this hidden gem.

We came to Kauai in part because of a recommendation for this B&B. After looking at the reviews, we decided to base our vacation around the Inn, and boy was that a smart idea. I could go on and on about the beauty of the location, the valley views, the rainbows we saw every morning, the 5 star pastries Alexis whipped up every single day ... but what was really so astonishing was the care that Alexis and Mike showed our family. Imagine being with the most helpful people you've ever met traveling and then times that by 100. Or a million. Honestly, nothing was too much trouble for Mike and Alexis. I won't go into all the details (so as not to set expectations!!) but the care they showed my family will not be forgotten. As just one example: Alexis speeding after us and meeting us at the airport to deliver some small lost items my daughter left behind.
There are many huge advantages to staying at a B&B over a resort, and that was particularly the case with Marjorie's Kauai Inn. We set off every morning with beach chairs and equipment, a cooler packed with snacks and tips on the best things to see and do on the Island.
Anyone can stay at a fancy resort, but my sense is that the most discerning travelers appreciate the type of boutique, authentic experience that Mike and Alexis provide. I hope they are reading this and knowing that the Aloha they showed us will never be forgotten.

We just came back from Kauai and our trip was so memorable because of our stay at Marjorie's. Veronica was house-sitting and hosting since Alexis and Mike are on vacation and she truly made us feel like we were longtime friends. She made sure our visit was memorable and was so helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai each morning overlooking the beautiful, lush valley. Our room was cozy, clean, warm and welcoming. The house itself is airy and the windows and doors are open and breezy on the lanai.

Staying here feels like you're staying with family, but in a tropical paradise away from the busy tourist areas. I would highly recommend staying here, thanks to the wonderful hospitality of Veronica!

Marjorie's Kauai Inn is a hidden gem. Nestled on the beautiful island of Kauai, it's a charming and peaceful retreat just minutes away from pristine beaches, making it an ideal oasis for travelers seeking a tranquil, private getaway. I live on Maui and needed to take a break for the volunteer work I was doing with the Maui fires and this trip recharged me!

The inn's gracious hospitality and thoughtful attention to detail are everywhere you look. When I stepped outside onto my room's spacious Lanai, was greeted by the sight of a serene saltwater pool and lounge area at the end of a romantic wooden stairwell, surrounded by swaying palm trees and an authentic Bali Hut, to sit and watch the sunset. I could relax and unwind while watching many different species of birds that call this area home. I also took advantage of "Night Swimming & Stargazing" as on a clear night you can see every star in the sky.

Inside the comfortable and tastefully appointed rooms, I found everything I needed to truly relax.

Waking to the smell of the Inn’s legendary breakfast was a pleasant morning experience. Each morning there are other guests engaged in fascinating "talk story" sessions with fellow world travelers. The innkeepers will happily share tips, stories, and insights about Kauai's rich history and vibrant culture. They also have a friend that is the "local activity director" who can fill you in on all the new and exciting things happening on island.

The inn's central location allows guests to make the most of their time exploring the island's breathtaking natural wonders. The innkeepers are avid hikers and can suggest any worthwhile outdoor activity you might want to engage in.

The inn's complimentary concierge services made it stressfree to plan exciting activities and tours. From thrilling door's off helicopter tours to serene hikes along the Napali Coast, there is an abundance of adventures waiting to be discovered.

At Marjorie's Kauai Inn, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere is obviously a top priority. All the guests I met seemed to be treated like a cherished member of the Ohana, ensuring a memorable and personalized stay.
If you're looking for relaxation or exploration, Marjorie's Kauai Inn offers an exceptional experience and where lasting memories are made.

Hi. There are only 3 rooms. There is one breakfast table for everyone. Can’t remember the time but you probably could arrange any time.

I would highly highly highly recommend a car to get around Kauai. I don’t remember seeing many buses while I was there and I imagine you’d spend a lot of time waiting for it to arrive.
