This Inn was wonderful! The bed was so comfortable and I slept the best there that I've slept in years! The owner had thought of everything. There were three densities of pillows so that you could choose what was best for you. We ate breakfast on the porch every morning. There were beach chairs and umbrellas to borrow. We loved our stay there!
We stayed 5 nights in the Pue'o room. (I was a little worried that it was the smaller room - but it was PERFECT, lovely, charming and comfortable. Loved the terrace. Most comfortable mattress and bed ever.) We are now in Princeville at a fancy resort, and wish we had stayed the entire 2 weeks at the Banyan Inn. It was really quiet, and you had the sense that you were in a treehouse. Lorna and John are lovely people in every way and make you feel like they are SO HAPPY you are there as their special guests. It was unique, boutique, and authentic Hawaii. Forgot to mention that we loved all the goodies in the fridge and basket on the counter. Homemade banana bread was delicious. Next time we will stay here for 2 weeks - or maybe 2 months! (P.S. We had dinner reservations at several nearby places. Liked the Gaylords the best. Nice place, too, to stop for an afternoon Mai Tai in the comfy, charming lounge!)…
My husband was in need for some R & R and he alone found this relaxing place in the internet. From the moment you walked into the Ulu suite, and started looking out the glass windows all the beauty around the place, you feel a big peace inside. The bed (think is a California king) was the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept on, and I have difficult sleeping but not on this bed. The room ceiling is made in beautiful mahogany and as you lay down and look up, is a nice view as well! We are in the mid-sixties so hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, was not for us, especially when husband wanted to lay back and relax after a long illness. However, driving around to Waimea Canyon, Hanapepe, on the southwest, in a convertible, made us feel a bit younger. We loved that! We recommend the Holoholo Grill at Koloa Landing Resort, for outdoor lunch. Also, we recommend Kalaheo Café & Coffee Company, in Kalaheo. Loved their Rueben's. In general, it was a very relaxing ten days in Kauai. The sea turtles that were sunbathing at the Poipu beach will agree ;-) When planning to visit Kauai, say Hello to Lorna and John. They would love to have you as guests in one of their three suites: Ali'i, Ulu'u and Pue'o. We stay in both, Ulu'u and Pue'o. Great views from both.…
Second time staying here and once again perfection. Phenomenal views, immaculately kept rooms. Just minutes away from gorgeous beaches, far enough away from Any hustle and bustle so you don’t hear anything other than the beautiful breeze through the trees. Awesome tv when you just need some time to veg out, Lorna leaves you some great Hawaiian snacks for some early or late night munchies. Washer and dryer for some mid trip laundry which lets you pack less. Loved every minute of it.
The Hoff’s are great host. Lorna makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy the Southern coast of Kauai. We highly recommend making dining-reservations in advance, but we managed. The Kauai Banyan Inn was a very quiet, very comfortable place to come home to after the days adventures.
What a lovely place! Because of an unexpected change of plans, we ended up staying in both the Ali'i and Ulu'u rooms. Both were terrific: airy, clean, great beds and showers and perfect views (we actually liked the Ulu'u room a bit better, but that is entirely a matter of taste). Lorna is the consummate host who has thought of everything you might possibly need for cooking cleaning, etc. She even gave us a second welcome basket when we ended up staying one extra day, in a different room. While there are no restaurants, etc. within walking distance, everything can be reached via a 5-10 minute drive.
I hate to even shine the light because I want this place all to myself, but I want them to stay around forever, so I'll say, if you are looking for a boutique experience; IE: sitting on the porch, listening to birds, while looking at the mountains and sipping your cocktail - this is the place for you. There is a mini kitchen, King bed, windows all around - and quiet. Best place on the island.
We stayed an unforgettable 5 nights at the Kauai Banyan Inn for our Kauai wedding/honeymoon and wished we could’ve had 2 weeks. Lorna is an amazing host who has thought of everything you could need for a relaxing stay and more. The views from the Ali’i suite are absolutely breathtaking, particularly in the morning at sunrise. It’s spacious and very quiet - you have the top floor to yourself and the way it is arranged - so peaceful! Lorna provides a very nice welcome basket along with eggs, local drinks, yogurts and fresh cut pineapple. It’s a very nice, personable touch. She also has great recommendations for how to enjoy your time on the islands. We can’t wait to have the chance to return and make another visit!!! Thanks for such a memorable stay! I stayed here with my husband for 3 nights in the Ulu room in December 2019. The place was lovely - huge room, with breakfast stuff (fruits, juice, muffins, cake) provided in the fridge. Only met Lorna briefly, but she was very friendly and helpful - recommended a good helicopter tour to do (Mauna Loa). Unfortunately the weather was a bit rainy and breezy so we couldn't really take advantage of the lanai. Lovely views and noise of birds. Great location to stay on Kauai, as it's close enough to drive up to the top of the island and to Waimea Canyon in the other direction. Much prefer to stay in quiet places with beautiful views like this than a resort down on the coast. There are enough restaurants a short drive away (not suitable without rental car!).
We loved our stay in the Ali’i room and how this place is tucked away off the road. The view is breathtaking and the room had everything we needed. It was very clean, plenty of towels, a welcome basket of snacks, coffee, tea, etc. Lorna was so nice and hospitable. We would definitely stay here again if we travel to Kauai in the future.
