My husband was in need for some R & R and he alone found this relaxing place in the internet. From the moment you walked into the Ulu suite, and started looking out the glass windows all the beauty around the place, you feel a big peace inside.
The bed (think is a California king) was the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept on, and I have difficult sleeping but not on this bed. The room ceiling is made in beautiful mahogany and as you lay down and look up, is a nice view as well!
We are in the mid-sixties so hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, was not for us, especially when husband wanted to lay back and relax after a long illness. However, driving around to Waimea Canyon, Hanapepe, on the southwest, in a convertible, made us feel a bit younger. We loved that!
We recommend the Holoholo Grill at Koloa Landing Resort, for outdoor lunch. Also, we recommend Kalaheo Café & Coffee Company, in Kalaheo. Loved their Rueben's.
In general, it was a very relaxing ten days in Kauai. The sea turtles that were sunbathing at the Poipu beach will agree ;-)
When planning to visit Kauai, say Hello to Lorna and John. They would love to have you as guests in one of their three suites: Ali'i, Ulu'u and Pue'o. We stay in both, Ulu'u and Pue'o. Great views from both.

What a lovely place! Because of an unexpected change of plans, we ended up staying in both the Ali'i and Ulu'u rooms. Both were terrific: airy, clean, great beds and showers and perfect views (we actually liked the Ulu'u room a bit better, but that is entirely a matter of taste). Lorna is the consummate host who has thought of everything you might possibly need for cooking cleaning, etc. She even gave us a second welcome basket when we ended up staying one extra day, in a different room. While there are no restaurants, etc. within walking distance, everything can be reached via a 5-10 minute drive.

Our stay at the Kauai Banyan Inn was our first location on the islands. The area around the inn was absolutely beautiful - a little secluded, with lots of hills on the drive in and lush vegetation.

We stayed in the Pueo room. Both the indoor and outdoor space was more than enough to accommodate two adults moving around. Inside, the bed was comfy and the air conditioning in the room was very effective - we usually turned it on for a short while to pull the humidity out of the room and then turned it off. The bathtub especially was nice and deep, enough to accommodate an adult soaking after a day out adventuring. Our lanai and room was the furthest from edge of the property, so the view from our lanai was partially obscured by the other room's lanais, but we still had stunning sunrises and we appreciated the comfortable furniture on the lanai.

We already had our excursions planned, but the innkeeper Lorna had other suggestions and tips about local road construction. The property has a ton of items (beach towels, scuba gear, beach chairs, cooler) that guests could borrow for the day, which is a fantastic amenity. Lorna also provides snacks in the room, which are perfect for taking on a hike or trip to the beach.

While the room doesn't have a full kitchen, this property felt the most like home. It isn't a luxury hotel, but instead a taste of what it might be like to live on Kauai.

Dear Alissera, thank you for your wonderful review. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your unit. The kitchenett5es work well as I have many guests that stay for an extended time. Not having to eat every meal out is a plus. As we just installed the A/C in the units I am pleased the feedback has been positive. Hope to have you on island again and stay with us longer. Mahalo Lorna

Second time staying here and once again perfection. Phenomenal views, immaculately kept rooms. Just minutes away from gorgeous beaches, far enough away from
Any hustle and bustle so you don’t hear anything other than the beautiful breeze through the trees. Awesome tv when you just need some time to veg out, Lorna leaves you some great Hawaiian snacks for some early or late night munchies. Washer and dryer for some mid trip laundry which lets you pack less. Loved every minute of it.

WOW. We recently stayed in the Ali'i suite and the entire experience was amazing. The views were incredible (go on the patio and look left for cows and right for goats!), the spacious bathroom was an absolute luxury, and the bed was supremely comfortable. The entire property is kept up impeccably, and the provided laundry, beach gear and snacks were very much appreciated! Next time we'll stay longer than 4 nights!

The Kauai Banyan Inn was amazing! We stayed in the Ali’i Suite. The views were spectacular. The location feels very secluded, yet you are just minutes from Koloa and Poi’pu. Lorna is an amazing innkeeper. Everything we could think of was provided for us. She is very knowledgeable about Kauai, as well, and gave us fantastic recommendations for activities and places to visit. The bed was so comfortable! This beautiful piece of paradise in Kauai made our vacation one of a kind.

So enjoyed reading your review and appreciate the time it took for you to make that review. Altho Kauai is getting busier, living on the island for over 50 years has given me the advantage of knowing what my guests should not miss seeing. My grandson is a help with all the new places to eat--including food trucks and out of the way places to go. I am happy to hear you appreciated the bed as the mattress came highly recommended. The Alii does have an amazing view--and I enjoy sharing it. Look forward to seeing you again. Mahalo, Lorna

The Hoff’s are great host. Lorna makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy the Southern coast of Kauai. We highly recommend making dining-reservations in advance, but we managed. The Kauai Banyan Inn was a very quiet, very comfortable place to come home to after the days adventures.

We stayed in the top floor Ali'i Suite for a week in late February 2023. The Inn is located in a beautiful rural setting. From our suite we had a distant ocean view with lush greenery all around us. We watched goats, cattle and listened to the roosters every morning. The suite is spacious and offers a well-stocked kitchenette,,,full-size fridge, microwave, hot plate and coffee maker along with dishes, glassware and cooking equipment. There is a gas grill available in the common lanai area.

Lorna is a kind and gracious host. She'll do her best to provide what ever you need. She was so kind to go get decaf coffee for my husband after he mentioned it's what he usually drank. We certainly didn't expect her to do that.

The Inn can be tricky to find especially after dark, but Lorna sent us wonderful, detailed directions including photographs. We arrived after 9pm in the rain without any problems.

Most attractions in Poipu and Lihue are less than a 30 minute drive from the Inn.

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of crowded resorts, kick-back and enjoy nature and just relax...then the Kauai Banyan Inn is perfect for you!

This place is so special. We stayed in the Koa Suite on our honeymoon and absolutely loved the view of the banyan tree. The setting was so perfect that we ate almost all of our meals outdoors at the inn. Lorna is an incredible host and provided everything we needed for a great visit to the south shore (including beach towels and access to laundry). A highlight of our trip!

This Inn was wonderful! The bed was so comfortable and I slept the best there that I've slept in years! The owner had thought of everything. There were three densities of pillows so that you could choose what was best for you. We ate breakfast on the porch every morning. There were beach chairs and umbrellas to borrow. We loved our stay there!

The Banyan Inn is indeed in a great location for Kauai. There are several different beaches close to the B&B and Lorna is incredibly helpful in advising you. The room was beautiful!! We also stayed at the Kealakekua Bay Inn on the Big Island. It is the most beautiful B&B. It is like a 5 star hotel, the house is incredible and the grounds are beautiful. It is steps away from a wonderful beach and Ruthie serves the most delicious breakfasts. I would definitely stay there for your Big Island.
