I've stayed at a lot of places in my travels -- and my time at The Hanalei Colony Resort is the most memorable, most relaxing and most unique experience I have ever had. First, people who live on the North Shore and those who travel here are people who WANT to be here. It's a ways off the beaten path. It's quiet. It's local. It's island-quaint. The coast stretches from horizon to horizon... the rhythmic sound of the surf and the wind is all you hear. There's a coffee house, spa and a restaurant/bar on-property. Everything is very local. The staff COULD NOT BE NICER. Wonderful folks. The grounds are meticulously kept. There's a bridge on the property that, if you look closely, was handmade with care and an eye towards detail that you don't find in other places. This is how the rooms are... made by craftsmen, comfortably appointed and separate from the world. We'll definitely be back and are already planning our next trip.…
Hanalei Colony Resort has been fantastic in dealing with very difficult times. Anyone can do well when its easy but the true measure of a company is when its hard The folks at Hanalei Bay, especially Chawake, have been very helpful and responsive. When we finally do make it to Hawaii, we will definitely be rebooking here.
It’s difficult to write a review for a place that is pure magic - a place that can only be experienced. This wasn’t a “hotel”. This was our home. I fell asleep to the ocean waves. At HCR you don’t have to go down an elevator and walk through a crowded lobby to get to the ocean. It’s footsteps away. No TV allows you to be fully present in the moment and when you’re surrounded by raw, untouched nature that’s easy to do. Our room had a stocked kitchenette so we were able to go to the local market and farmers market and cook our own meals a few of the nights. The staff is authentic and truly cares about their guests AND the land. It’s a hidden gem, not a cookie cutter hotel. It’s surrounded by a beautiful 360 degree view of the mountains and ocean. Pure magic.
Wow! I had the most incredible stay at Hanalei Colony Resort. The room was beautiful and spacious with gorgeous views, the beach was super accessible, Opakapaka Grill had amazing food and fantastic cocktails (try the chocolate mousse!), and this all made for a perfect and relaxing trip to Hawaii. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, too - they were knowledgeable about the area and about airport transportation, they were super welcoming, and they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and accommodated - even making lunch and coffee for us and bringing out a generator to charge phones when the power went out, and offering us a nice selection of card and board games to play. This resort created the perfect atmosphere to spend the most perfect vacation. The grounds were so beautiful, and the balcony in our room was an amazing space to relax and take it all in. I was so sad to have to leave when it was time for my flight! I would absolutely recommend staying here - it was an unforgettable experience, and I would love to stay here again.…
This resort is awesome. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are big and beautiful. The views of the ocean are astounding, it feels like paradise. While technically you cannot swim in the beach that the resort is on, Tunnels Beach is only a short walk away and it is not dangerous to swim in. The restaurant nearby is delicious. Even though it is the only restaurant nearby, it has many delicious options to choose from and I was never tired of it. If I ever come back to Kauai, I will stay at this resort again.
